Hiya, just wanted to ask a quick question (and possibly see if there's anyone hanging around here still!) I've known of this novel for a while now, and out of perverse curiosity decided to finally buy it - despite my better judgement. Has anyone read this, and if so, what did you think of it?

I've actually never heard of it.

I've not had a lot of time read it yet (only two chapters in), but it is pretty awful. Marius is just plain mean to Cosette, who in her turn is relenting to him despite everything. The background cast are the bad kind of weird, and there's a surprise arrival from the original. It's not a very subtle addition to rename him 'Verjat'... looks like our beloved Inspector was saved from drowning. stressed If I wasn't so strangely curious about it, I'd have stopped reading there. gonk

I actually have heard of Cosette. I've never read it, but my friend did. I don't think she liked it very much, but let me know if it gets better. Maybe I'll read it.
Who wrote it? It's one of those a-fan-of-Victor-Hugo-decided-to-write-a-sequel type things, isn't it?
