Hello all! There are a few things i'm been wondering about, and why not ask them to the fellow horse-knowledgeable people at EoG. Theres kind of a lot, sorry, you don't need to answer them all. sweatdrop
1.) Where is the best place to put a hay net in a trailer?
2.) My dad was thinking about a net divider in the trailer, like the netted stall guards, good/bad idea? Is the all-solid one better? Is one with slits/grill in it better?
3.) Is collection bad in the show ring? (beginner Eq/Pleasure classes)(See Next Question)
4.) My horse responds better collected and, when not collected at all, twists her neck out, is there a way to fix this with out her always being collected when ridden at the trot? (Ask for better explination)
5.) What type of blanket is good when after you give them a bath they wont be dirty for the next day's show? Fleece? A Cooler? A Dress? What?
6.) My horse drags her back feet slighty when trotting, is that a bad sign?
7.) What places do you clip a horse for showing? (not just for halter classes, showing in general)
8.)Is it a good sign if my horse lets my close to her when she's laying down?
9.) How do you tell the difference between a dressage saddle pad and an AP pad, what does "full" mean?
10.) When my horse is collected she chews and "plays" with the bit, her mouth is never closed it's open chewig the bit, what does that mean? Does she not like the bit? Is it me? (I use a loose ring snaffle, same as the one she had before, but the right size.)
11.) My alpha mare bites, shoves and chases after our other horse, how do I tell if it's just play or aggression?
12.) Is it possible for a horse to not just like to canter in a round pen (60ft)? becasue cookie bucks into the canter in thier but going up the relativly straight driveway she is fine, i mean a bit of fast trotting then...CANTER!
And just note if you do answer any of these can you specify what number you are anwereing to make it less confusion thanks!!
I don't know any others right now, but they'll come to me right after i press "Submit" hahaha.
Thanks so much for actually trying to answer theses. biggrin

1.) Where is the best place to put a hay net in a trailer? For the horse to eat or to store for a trip? For the horse, obviously infront of where it face goes lol. If its a hay bag u can put it in the tack room, or if its an angle haul and the divider closes off the last horse u can tie it up in the back cornor. But we always let the horse eat or put it in the back of the truck.
2.) My dad was thinking about a net divider in the trailer, like the netted stall guards, good/bad idea? Is the all-solid one better? Is one with slits/grill in it better? solid with a "grid" like spot at their faces so they can sniff and see each other but not n**
3.) Is collection bad in the show ring? (beginner Eq/Pleasure classes)(See Next Question) Depends on your definition of collected. Yes u want the horse to be on the bit, accepting contact and soft in your hand. No you don't want the horse totally uphill and dressage like. But it's better to have a content calm stedy horse than anything.
4.) My horse responds better collected and, when not collected at all, twists her neck out, is there a way to fix this with out her always being collected when ridden at the trot? (Ask for better explination) What do u mean about twisting her neck out?
5.) What type of blanket is good when after you give them a bath they wont be dirty for the next day's show? Fleece? A Cooler? A Dress? What? Cooler if theyre still wet, but a sheet (dress) is best unless its cold and then a light blanket like a lined rainsheet. If theyre outside, somerthing water proof.
6.) My horse drags her back feet slighty when trotting, is that a bad sign? Could be signs of different issues. Could be laziness or confomation. If it concerns you, ask a vet/chiropractor/farrier for any signs of things that arent right.
7.) What places do you clip a horse for showing? (not just for halter classes, showing in general) If he's a hairy beast, body clip. If your talking about summer showing, than face (some people do wiskers, i dont because my horse is an outside/pasture horse), ears (i dont 'hallow' them though because of bugs), chin, bridle path, fetlocks, cornetband. And trim mane and square tail.
8.)Is it a good sign if my horse lets my close to her when she's laying down? Most horses ive known do. when a calm horse is used to people, (im my experience) they pretty much let u do anything to them. ive sat on several different horses while theyre laying down, and the worst ive ever got wwas a grumpy look lol
9.) How do you tell the difference between a dressage saddle pad and an AP pad, what does "full" mean? dressage pads are straight down the front, AP are rounded and are very similar to jumping. Full means for a full sized saddle (16-18inch)
10.) When my horse is collected she chews and "plays" with the bit, her mouth is never closed it's open chewig the bit, what does that mean? Does she not like the bit? Is it me? (I use a loose ring snaffle, same as the one she had before, but the right size.) there might be some irritation, you could try a eggbut/dring to see if that makes a differnece or tighten your noseband.
11.) My alpha mare bites, shoves and chases after our other horse, how do I tell if it's just play or aggression? it's usually the horse putting the other in their place. if it's play, it'll go back and forth and the other horse will look to get some hits in too. but agression is usually one bite/kick/squeel and then the mare goes back to her food or whatever

(sorry bout typos, long day) Weird Flaps ^ her walking with it, shoule it be losser at the shoulder? this is how much room there is. loosen? the weird tie things...what do i do with them? how tight should these be? 10.) so it';s becasue she like used to the flash, now what do oyu mrean about solid? like a loose french ring? Thanks again!!! biggrin

The blanket is about 2 inches too big for her, but it's not a big deal. If you can get a size smaller do it, but it isn't a horrible fit. It appears to be too tight at the shoulders because the neck hole is too large. Don't make it any larger. The fleece whithers piece should sit about where the whithers and neck meet, and the buckle on the neck, where the neck joins the chest or slightly lower. The 'wierd flaps' are there because the blanket is too big. Here's a similar shaped blanket to yours that fits better: That's what those back flaps are suppost to look like. But all this isn't really a big deal since it's going to be an 'over-night-once-in-a-while' blanket. It fits well enough. If it were a turnout blanket that she was going to wear all winter, a better fitting one would be needed because it would rub on the shoulder and whithers. EDIT: almost forgot. The belly straps should be loose enough so that when you are pulling down on the middle you can fit 2 fists (one ontop of the other) between it and the horse. That's on the cross part of the straps. You want it to be loose enough so it's touching but not tight when the horse lays down, but you dont want it so if they kick at their belly (flys or whatever), or when they lay down and get up, they could catch a hoof. The way you have it adjusted looks good. Those strings i think are to go under the tail. But if there are leg straps i dont really see the point. 10. the flash kept the bit high in her mouth which prevented her playing from it and kept her mouth shut a bit more than the noseband does. By a solid ring, i mean a ring that doesn't slide through the bit. Like wiht a loose ring, the ring is well, loose. It moves through the bit. Verses an egg butt or dring where its more of a hinge and a solid chunk with the rest of the bit. A bit that she can;t move around might discourage playing with it.

Someone must of thought i siad 78 but i don't remeber. i thought she was a 74. I really wanted to get a fleece one for showing but i got this at an auction and they had to fleece. Yeah this lbanket would only be used for keeping her clean after bath time till the next day's show. so i guess its not i big deal. And i kind of want one smaller now, i mean its not horrible but she looks a bit goofy and i don't know becasue if its too big somehow dirt will get up there. Thanks though. Know by loos ring do oyu mean like in a loss ring snaffle how the ring can move? like do oyu have pic or somwthing i'm having trouble pictureing it. sweatdrop Thank you!!

Silver Moon Kitsune Know by loos ring do oyu mean like in a loss ring snaffle how the ring can move? like do oyu have pic or somwthing i'm having trouble pictureing it. sweatdrop Thank you!! Here's a pic of all 3 bits: Loose Ring Snaffle Eggbutt Snaffle (lol this one looks like it's pony sized) D-ring Snaffle (hrm, I wonder what you call this type of 3-piece. its kinda odd looking) (Sorry for the huge size. It was the best one I could find quickly that didn't have an extremely square ring.) Do you see how the loose ring snaffle the ring can slide through the joint where the mouth piece attaches? And then on the eggbutt and d-rings don't have the ability to slide through? Also for playing with the bit, if you have a copper roller or copper of any kind on the bit, that usually makes horses want to chew on it. My horse has a copper roller on his bit. He doesn't play with the roller though, he just chomps on his bit when he's bored rolleyes . Sweet iron is better if you want something on the mouth piece to get them to salivate (making their mouth softer). It doesn't seem to be something they want to chomp on, as far as I've seen. Probably cause copper is a much softer metal.
