Kanki laid on a rock in the middle of a grass field. She yawned, soaking up the sun that hung high above her in the sky. Her glow was dull, from her boredom. She blinked, focusing on a blade of grass. Today is the same as any other day... company-less and nothing to do... so why do I have such a bad feeling int he pit of my stomach? She gridded her teeth a bit, having a bad feeling that old feelings were going to bubble up again soon, but more angry/sad. She shook her head, what's wrong with me? Nothing bad is going to happen today... but than again Frostbite always told me that I had a good eye for telling that something bad is going to happen...
She tried to calm her tensed self down, but knew it wasn't working since her glow only grew stronger. This is so stupid... she rolled her eyes before closing them and going back to sun bathing. Though the aura around her was like a spinning coin and just threatening to lose balance.

 Serena twitched her tail curiously. What was that strange glow that seemed to eminate from the middle of the grass field? The long grass tickled the little kit's nose as she drifted cautiously toward the mysterious glow. Could it be Tinkle Bell? She had often heard tales of the little fairy in Peter Pan from the many fairytales that she loved hearing. She smiled happily at the thought of finding Tinkle Bell and sprinkled by the pixie dust...and the flying, the flying! She giggled happily at the thought; zooming in and out of clouds, yawning in the afternoon sun, feeling the free wind in her fur......
She blinked. To her disappointment, it was not Tinkle Bell, but another ulaya. The ulaya was very strange, and seemed to be almost transparent radianting an icy blue aura. It curiously reminded her of her own mother's aura, which was several glowing orbs like twinkling stars. Serena titled her head curiously, who was this ulaya?

Kanki opened her eyes and stared at the Ulaya that had appeared in front of her. "...Yes?" She rolled back onto her stomach and raised and eyebrow at the kit. This feeling... why do I have a feeling of familiarity with her? She shrugged it away. "What do you want?" She narrowed her eyes, her glow becoming short and concentrated, before relaxing them and the glow growing and having a more friendly, calm look. She shouldn't be so rude to a kit, she hadn't even done anything yet. She slided off the rick landing in front of Serena. Hm, interesting patterns she has...

Serena tilted her curiously and asked the question on her mind,"Why do you glow so much? It is like icy blue flames....." She blinked and continued,"It looks really pretty and everything....but I think it looks like my mommy's aura." Was this strange ulaya a close relative of her mother, perhaps her mother's sister? A sudden thought struck her, oh boy would her parents be displeased if she wasn't polite to her elders. She immediately introduced herself,"Oh, and I'm Serena." She said bobbing her head up and down.

"I glow because my mother glows, because her father glows, and so on," she nodded, obviously she got that question a lot. "And I'm Kanki," she smiled gently and gently ruffled the fur on top of the kit's head with her paw playfully. "So, what are you doing out here...? Wouldn't your parents be worried that you drifted so far away on your own?" Her eyelids dropped slightly, remembering how she was allowed to wander away all the time, for long distances and long times actually. So she need not act so motherly towards the other ulaya, besides, it was technically being nosy. Kanki mentally sighed, her family was such a mess.

"Oh, that's berry like my mommy's faimly, me thinks."said Serena nodding her head thoughtfully. Then she paused as Kanki ruffled her head and answered,"Well, I was playing around, catching grasshoppers. It is great that it is spring!" She titled her head and considered the next question, it had never crossed her mind before that her parents would be worried. She finally said,"Mommy and Daddy shouldn't be too worried, I'm not that far away from where we all live together, about twenty minutes from here...and I know my way. Anyways, they aren't really worried if I appear before dark comes." said Serena nodding proudly.

Kanki nodded in approval, "so... what are your family like anyways?" She tilted her head to the side slightly, curious. Kanki always liked learning about other Ulaya's histories, she got it from her mother. She blinked and her eyelids drooped slightly again, envious that the kit lived with both her mother and father. Wait a second... like her mommy's? Mentally her face screwed up with slight worry, with fear building up. Could this be what I was sensing before...?

Serena frowned in concentration as she tried to remember how her mother's family was like, she paused and said,"Well, Mommy has a pretty big family, but Daddy doesn't really have any relatives. He is a Native American ulaya I think."She said nodding,"Mommy, I think has four other siblings and five other half-siblings as well as some siblings-in-law. I have two sisters named Chepi and Citali. Then I have like countless cousins, and it just makes me dizzy counting them. Oh, and I think that I have like five half-siblings too, who are all grown up by now me thinks. Pretty big family, yush?"

"That is pretty big..." She said, blinking, "My mother also has four siblings and five half-siblings and... other people that I don't feel like including." The fear that rode on top of her heart grew and grew as Kanki became more certain, "...what does your mother look like again?" She regretted asking as soon as the words parted from her mouth, on second thought Kanki didn't want to make sure it was true. But ti was already too late. Please please please... She felt her legs tremble, she never did like her mother but... now they weren't a family anymore? They never really were a close one but... Kanki blinked, regretting that she was never close to her mother during childhood and regretted never trying to become close and just leaving when she was old enough.

Serena blinked, why was Kanki trembling as if she was scared of her answer? She shrugged and answered the question,"Well, Mommy, she is mainly white, but patches of light blue here and there. She glows slightly just like you. There are like tiny glowing orbs floating around her, like twinkling stars....."She said nodding thoughtfully.

Kanki felt her heart break, so it was true. She flopped down, her legs no longer supporting her as she had boiled over on the inside with anger, hatred, and sadness. "Mom..." Now the only person in the world she knew would always be with her besides her grandmother her was gone, she had lost her. Kanki and Farfalla never were close... or at least unrequited, but now whatever bond they had was gone. She closed her eyes, the fur around them becoming wet, for once Kanki was glad she was almost transparent, because it made her tears harder to see. Her glow had died completely. Stupid Farfalla, stupid stupid woman...

Serena jumped rather surprised at Kanki's sudden movement. The other ulaya had flopped down and bowed down in sadness. Serena blinked at the single word "Mom". She bit her lip, was Kanki her half-sister? What was happening to this crazy world? She shook her head sadly, for once, she could feel exactly what her aunt Alyssa felt like. She blinked again, trying to shake off the strange thoughts and her normal calmness came back to her and waited for Kanki to speak.

Kanki blinked, her eyes dull. "Our family... is crazy, you know? Everything weird happens to us..." She sighed, not bothering to get up, "did you know we're one of the biggest family's on the island? it's not really a wonder..." She chuckled, though it was dead and had an air of confusion. "Serena... be careful... please, something bad is gonna happen to your family, I just know it. One of your siblings may screw up or whether a crazy merc comes after you for unknown reasons... just... just watch out for yourself."

Serena tilted her head and started at her half sister curiously, what did she mean? She blinked for a few moments and nodded,"Yah, I know that...."She paused as Kanki chuckled and looked mildly confused before saying,"I suppose so....I know, I guess that I can take care of myself."muttered Serena nodding, still a bit confused. Well, it might have been the fact that she didn't meet much of her whole family yet, or she might have had an idea of what it was like.

"You look confused... I mean, with our luck, we're probably going to end up breeding with a rogue that we don't even know." She closed her eyes for a moment before slowly getting up, feeling like she was acting like a kit after a temper tantrum. She blinked, before looking somewhere else, trying to see if her mother was enjoying be a mother again, and a more accomplished one at that.
