 Gwen looked aound her newfound home in amazement. It had taken a lot of her strength to swim out to the large island on the huge lake, but she knew it was worth it. She had scouted the island quickly, and had found a waterfall to the north, coming from a mountain. A stream led from the waterfall's bottom to the east, to a boggy swamp area. To the west there was an open field, dotted with wildflowers that looked very pretty. To the south it was all forest, mostly oak and maple trees with a few pines sparsely throughout.
She sighed in contentment as she made her way back to the field. This place reminded her of growing up with Hedda in the woods. Her thoughts floated away, back to those times.

 Sawa lifted his head sleepily as he heard something larger than the usual squirrels and rabbits disturbing the underbrush. "Now what's all this noise?" He grumbled to himself.
He picked himself up and stretched, dried mud piecing away from his body as he did so. He sniffed the air, trying to scent out what might have been passing by. Another? Like myself? His senses became heightened at the thought, and he started to follow in the direction the scent was coming from.
It brought him to the open field, but he didn't see anything. Whoever this Ulaya was, they were stealthy. He took a few more steps forward, the scent getting ever stronger, and then found himself tripping over a large mound of grass.

"Ouch! What the heck is that?!" Gwen exclaimed, scared out of her wits. She looked around her, confused, almost missing the muddy colored male on the ground near her.
It was, to her surprise, what looked like another Ulaya... and a male at that. This could prove to be interesting...

Sawa growled as he heard a voice. that was no mound. He whipped his body around to snap at his foe, but quickly drew back when he realized it was female. Despite his aggressive nature, he could never bring himself to harm a lady.
"Sorry." He said, trying to smile, which looked more like a grimace.

"Oh, that's no problem." She said in a purring voice, edging closer to him. He wasn't that attractive physically, but it would still be fun to try to get him to like her. She knew she was beautiful, so it shouldn't be that hard. She rubbed her body against his, cringing a bit as she felt the flaky dried mud rub off onto her clean coat.

Sawa's body stiffened as the female rubbed her side against his. "I would appreciate it, stranger, if you would kindly step away from me. We haven't even properly met." He backed away himself, not really knowing what to think of this forward female. Certainly she was like no one else he had ever met, and he wasn't sure if he liked that or not. "What are you doing here. this is my land. It's clearly marked."

Gwen was taken aback at his negativity and formalness. She had thought it would be easy to wrap this one around her little finger. Ah well, the more of a challenge he presented, the more she wanted to meet that challenge.
"I'm sorry, that was rude of me. My name is Gwen... I didn't know this island was inhabited."

"It's alright." He said gruffly. He looked at her a bit more closely now. He supposed she was the epitome of beauty, but he wouldn't let that affect his judgment of her. "If you're wanting to stay on this island, you're going to have to gain my approval first." He gave her a smirk, thinking that she would never be able to pass the challenges he would set for her.

"Gain your approval?" She was surprised... her charms did not seem to be working on this male. Her brow furrowed, and she tried to make the best pouty face that she could. "I hope you'll go easy on me... I mean, it's a huge island. I don't really see why you wouldn't want to share it." She batted her eyelashes at him.

"That's my decision to make, not yours." He gave her a disapproving look. "If you don't wish to perform the tasks I set for you, then you may leave the island now." He then wondered exactly what kind of challenges he would be setting out for her. He didn't want to make them impossible... he was a fair minded Ulaya. But he didn't want to make them too easy either. There was also a question of how many tasks she would have to perform to satisfy him.

She frowned. Obviously she wouldn't be able to sway this one. "So... if I perform these... tasks... you'll let me live here?" She wasn't looking forward to performing any sort of tasks for anyone. She was used to getting her way. But the island was so beautiful that she was willing to put those feelings aside. Just this once.

"Yes, you will be able to stay on the island, if that is what you wish." He frowned. He thought that if he set tasks, she might not want to perform them. She certainly looked like she was a pampered thing. Oh well, he doubted she would be able to do them. "There will be three tasks that I will have you perform."

"Alright," she said, a look of determination on her face. "I agree. What are the tasks?" She hoped they wouldn't be too hard, but she thought she would surprise him with her agility and physical prowess. She was a good fisher, climber... yes, she felt like whatever tasks he had for her, she would be able to do.

"Alright, your first task starts now." He grinned at her, although it must have looked a little malicious. "It will be in the form of a riddle, and you will have a time limit of 5 minutes to answer it correctly. You may make as many guesses as you like within the time limit." He paused to gather his thoughts... the riddle he was thinking of, the answer was simple, but it might be hard to come up with. "What two things can you never eat for breakfast?"

Gwen started laughing... maybe a bit nervously. Riddles were not her strong point. Her mind often wandered, and she wasn't a great thinker. She thought about this one now... well, there were lots of things that weren't really breakfast foods, but she thought that you could technically eat them for breakfast. Suddenly, her face lit up. "Lunch and Dinner!" She said excitedly, knowing her guess was correct.
