Ye Olde 'Artisan for a Day' Contest Come one, come all to the first 'Artisan for a Day' contest! Ever felt the driving urge to design your own Sentinel.. and get it? For FREE? How do you feel about working within completely arbitrary restrictions? Do you think we're asking too many questions? Well so do we! So without further ado... Contest, the first:We pick: - Type (Wildtype)
You pick: - Gender - Colours - Task Contest, the second:We pick: - Colours
You pick: - Gender - Type (must be one of the five base types; we choose genetics) - Task Contest, the third:We pick: - Nothing
You pick: - Everything (must be one of the five base types; we choose genetics)
Want to give it a shot? Well, here are the details: 1 - Download the appropriate template - [1], [2], [3] ...or .TIF versions, here: [1], [2], [3]2 - Design your feather dye job (digital, or print and colour by hand!) 3 - Display your finished masterpiece here The contest will remain open until... May 7th, at 7pm EST. Entries will be judged based on originality, fitting within the world, and visual appeal. Artistic talent is NOT the main judging criteria, so feel free to enter even if you're not an artist! A great idea will trump beautiful rendering skills in this contest. - All you are designing is the feather dye, not the base colouration of the type - Proxies are NOT permitted - There is a limit of three entries per person - You may split your entries between the contests. (ie. one for each, two on the third and one on the second, etc.) - You may only win one Sentinel from this event

Okay! Here's mine... It's a little boring but that was my best with these colours. I think I should give the other two options a try. Oh, and I have used black on the beak and the talons. And here are the infos... Don't know if they would be used when someone wins or if I should post it when I post my entry but here I go: Gender: Female Type: Ghost Task: Artisan *good luck to me! >u<*

Task: Hunter/Crafter Believe it or not, it's all feather dye. From the metal to the glowing bits, all dye. Dye dye dye dye dye. He likes dye, obviously. sweatdrop

For Option 2 Woo, hope this is alright! JUST A NOTE: The black on the body isn't from the "black" in the given colors; she's a Shadow type and so I just made her dark to see how the pattern looked. The black from the given colors is used on her beak and talons, which are dual-colored with black at the quicks and white at the tips. Oh... and the eye color wasn't a listed color. Hope that's OK <3. Name: Water Gender: Female Type: Shadow Task: minder gone Teacher (Primarily a teacher, but if there's a sudden 'splosion of fluff balls, she moves to her Minder roots and then does a dual position thinger ...if that's allowed.)

Contest the Second Entry

Please don't laugh! I can has no photoshoppe skills. This is the first time I have painted anything in it. I tried not to blind you all! I avoided shading, too, as I think my lack of experience would muck it up...
Ehrm... I luff his wings/eartufts. :3 None of the marking edges would be straight on him, but I had a hard time getting them to curve. Everything is supposed to be curvy...

Contest the Third Entry

A bit flashy! Perhaps, if chosen, the red could be dulled down to something a little more natural?
She's a showy gal, though. :3
Once again, the markings are meant to be somewhat curvy and those red flecks are meant to be small spots/dots... D:
Based on the Roseline Shark, though I did take a few creative liberties...
- Also, a sentinel would probably never see a Roseline, which happen to be one of my favorite types of fish... But the markings don't seem too terribly farfetched for a young, energetic, dye loving minder, to imagine on her own, I hope! Especially because red, the colour of blood, is an important colour to these fellows! XD
Name: Feverfew Gender: Female Type: Ghost (preferrably a pale ghost, though markings aaaare up to you gaiz. :3) Task: Minder

Contest #1 Name: Featherfall Gender: Female Task: Elite
I have the PSD still. I kept what you said in mind and did a wash of a sandy grey, then turned the opacities down low. The only 100% opacity pieces on her are white spots and chevrons.
I fully don't expect to win an Elite in this contest, but it forced me to do her refsheet, anyways. :3

Contest #3 Name: Verdigris Gender: Male Type: Wildtype or Deep Woods, I don’t actually care! Task: Minder or Teacher, whichever is most practical at the time.
Oh, and incidentally, I just gave the palette as a reference. If you wanna fool around with shades, by all means, be my guest!

Contest the First

My third and final entry... Those green blobs on his shoulders and legs are supposed to resemble Ginkgo leaves... But my skillz are horribly lacking. D:,
Also, I am a huge fan of blending/fading... My attempts don't show it, but I'd like the paint on all three to fade sort of naturally, if that is possible. Gink and Silver are painted, but try to make it look natural...
