Welcome to Shattered Moons, an Elfquest Role Playing guild. Please read the introduction first, to learn more about how the world of Shattered Moons came about and the standard for which we will be playing.
If your new to Role Playing, don't fret, read these guidelines and with time and practice, you can be as good an RPer as anybody out there.
With the knowledge of the introduction you first read, the entry into the guild is not as hard as it seems. In order to become a member you must first have read the introduction, this welcome message, and of course, the rules which you must abide by while in the realm of Shattered Moons.
Secondly you must submit to the GM a character concept for your character to play. If you are unsure of what to write, you may add things like where your character lived before the great cataclysm, what your character did, what kind of elf your character is, what happened to your character during the great cataclysm etc. Please post in the 3rd person, as if you were speaking about your Character. (Example: "Clearwater was a wolfrider that lived in the Grove tribe before the Cataclysm struck. She was a gatherer and a mother. She is saddened at the lost of her home, her tribe, and most of all, her children.")
Armed with the knowledge of how to apply for the guild, we must stress that you make sure to read the rules and regulations that we will uphold your character to. Here are some basic understandings of how the system will work when you join our guild and RP with us.
exclaim One character per account. This will make it easier for people and will create less hassle. We encourage you to have only one character period so you don't feel overwhelmed, but you may have as many accounts as you feel you can keep up with.
exclaim NO BOOK CHARACTERS! This world has undergone a great change, and in order to keep tempers down, and jealousy to a minimum, we are not allowing book characters (ie Cutter, Skywise, Leetah, etc.) to be played. Your character must be your own creation and played as such. You may mention these characters in the RP but you may not play them. For all we know, these characters may have been destroyed in the great cataclysm.
exclaim Your username does not have to be your name in Character. If you choose not to use your username as your characters name, you MUST put your character name and a pic of your character in your sig.
exclaim Please dress your character in appropriate attire. They did not have guns in the world we are living. Weapons consisted of crude crafted or blunt instruments. Please ask a Crew member if your weapon will be acceptable. As with other atire, please use common sense in dressing your character. A Crew member may contact you if you are not wearing what we feel may be appropriate for the situation. Again, if you choose not to use your main avatar as your character likeness, please post a pic of what your character looks like in your sig along with your name.
exclaim Elves Only! No Humans, No Trolls. No Preservers. If you are unsure of what kind of elf you want to be, please check the Rules and Regulations section, some races have been added from the TwoMoons MUSH and will be allowable in this Guild.
exclaim Above all. No GODMODING. Godmoding is difficult because sometimes we do it without meaning to. Godmoding is doing something that your character is physically unable, and/or mentally incapable of doing. This involves things like magicks that have not been assigned to you, feats of strength that you are not capable of, or even something as simple as playing another character. When you RP, you will be playing your character only. If the play goes in a direction you are uncertain of, always err on the side of your character only. Do not play someone else’s character, even if it simple. Always leave a response open ended or with a possibility of it going another way. For Example: You and Clearwater are picking berries, you hear something, you do not know if Clearwater heard it because you are not playing her character. So instead of saying "Clearwater and I were in the forest and WE heard something" say "Clearwater and I were in the forest and I heard something. Maybe it was another elf?" Speculating and ending RP open ended will make sure you only play your character, and if Clearwater wants to add that she heard something as well, that is up to her. Do not play other people's characters. If you are unsure, contact a Crew member and ask. Should a concern arise between yourself and another player in which you feel uncomfortable or unable to work out player to player, you have the right to contact the Crew and request assistance.
These will be reiterated in the Rules section. If you are unsure of any of these rules please PM a Crew member and ask. We will be happy to help you out.
