I hope that I'm not putting this in the wrong place...
Soo...as the topic implies, I was wondering if there's some natural remedies (herbal or food) to help cure the runny nose. My friend, who gets them often asked me about it, and I drew a blank. Haven't come across anything that helps with that yet xD and I'm determined to find something. I've heard that spicy foods can help, but I'd like to be aware of other options. Whatever anybody suggests, I do plan to look further into first. Help? sweatdrop

That's a complicated question.
A runny nose isn't an illness, in and of itself. Why does her nose run? If it's allergies, the treatment would be completely different than if it was a sinus infection, which is different from a cold.
Do you know why her nose runs?

His knows used to run from allergies, but apparently it's gone away. I would still like to know though...what would be good herbs to look into for allergies and the sinus problems associated? Also, what herbs would be good for a cold-related runny nose? Stuffy nose?
Thanks!

First: I want your cauldron. WHERE can I find one of those?!
Second: .... well, this is more complicated... and simpler at the same time! XD
To treat allergies, firstly be clean. Wash your hands and your clothes frequently, keep your face clean, blow your nose a lot. It'll keep allergens down.
Drink frequent cups of tea made from nettle- yes, that nasty stinging nettle that hikers hate. Make a quart of nettle tea, in a medium to strong dose, and strain it carefully through a coffee filter (to get all the little hairs out). Drink it throughout the day, when allergies come on.
If you have hayfever, it's rumored that eating a good LOCAL honey can help- the idea is that you eat the honey made from the local flowers, which gives you a sort of immunity to the local pollen. It's just a theory, though, and of course watch how much honey you eat! Very high in sugar!
Hot steams can relieve congestion- a very hot shower or a bowl of hot water to breathe in- throw in some mint, some eucalyptus or tea tree oil... it will loosen the congestion and let you get it out.
As for colds, it's best to let a cold run its course if you can. You want to get those germs out of your body, and fevers, snotty noses and diarrhea is how your body is voiding those nasties. If you need to work, you can ease a stuffy nose the same ways as you would for allergies- a hot steam to loosen the snot, lots of blowing. Echinacea can sometimes dry out the sinuses- it's not what it's for, but it works. XD In the case of a cold, it's best to treat the underlying illness and not the symptoms. Eat a balanced food- broths made of chicken or veggies, oatmeals, things that are easy to digest and high in good nutrition. Hot food, if you can, helps relieve congestion in the nose and chest- in fact, heat in general is good for congestion! A supportive tea blend of your choice will help, and so will large quantities of fluids that are not high in sugar or caffeine- so gatorade is a yes, water and tea are a yes- soda, kool-aid, and stuff are definite no's!
Does that help at all?

Yup! Thanks. I already knew some of those, but I'll keep the rest in mind.
As for the cauldron...you have to do the "skittles" quest. You should be able to find it by doing a search through the forum, but I'm not sure. My friend gave this one to me. Then you can change the colors of the inside. 3nodding

I know from experience, as whenever I eat spicy food, I tend to get a runny nose.
