"Ah."
"..Ah."
Move? No. Wait. Hold on. Maybe it's best to just turn around and....

"Where're you going? Afraid of me?"
The man seated on the couch in the middle of the lobby smirked, adjusting his elegant mask with one delicate hand. He sat in a casual manner, one leg crossed over the other and leaning back against the leather seat. From where he sat, he couldn't see the other man whom had just so recently entered.. at least, not directly. Ferdinand looked to the window into the pitch black of the outside, the glass panels reflecting the chandelier lights from within the room..as well as Dominik's form.

"Who the hell would be afraid of you, Masque DeMasque?"
Dominik snapped back in annoyance. He wasn't in a good mood to begin with, after another row with his brother. Which was why he was in the lobby in the first place, having been kicked out of their shared room [Again.]. Pride winning over, Dominik completely forgot about his initial plan to retreat and not cause anymore trouble or additional stress to himself. In fact, he crossed the distance to the middle of the room and plopped down into the sofa on the other end, facing the elevator and simultaneously, his self declared 'rival'.

"Well, with the way you were retreating so quickly, I thought maybe you were embarrassed to show your face to me."
Ferdinand laughed, turning the page of the heavy book in his lap and returning his attention onto the tiny text scrawled neatly on its white pages.

"Who's the one wearing the mask? What is there for me to be afraid of?"
Dominik's lips twitched into a frown, the man flicking a long strand of jet-black hair over his shoulders as he leaned back in the seat and crossed one leg over the other in a perfect imitation of Ferdinand's natural cat-like grace. Two can play at that game.

"Well...."
The masked bartender grinned to himself, not looking up from his book.
"Your masculinity is questionable at this point, isn't it?"

"...What the hell are you talking about, you crazy alcoholic?"
The younger man's frown deepened, dark eyes narrowing slightly. The question was asked more in defense than actual ignorance, as both men knew quite well what Ferdinand hinted at by that, just that neither were willing to be the first to blatantly point it out.

A heavy silence followed as Ferdinand simply continued to read, seeming as though he was not to give a reply. Dominik having nothing else to do, turned his gaze out the window in annoyance-- his pride wouldn't let him leave by then, less the other man made another pass at him verbally.

"I mean I worry about whether you are keeping a healthy sex life or not."
Ferdinand grinned, speaking as naturally as if he was talking about the weather. Although the statement caught Dominik off guard.

What the hell did he mean by that?

"What?"
Lamely, Dominik gawked the word out. Well, how else would one reply to something like that, and so spontaneously as well?

"Let's make a bet."
Seeming to switch the topic, Ferdinand closed his book in a business-like manner with a sharp thump, putting the volume onto the marble desk before him. Leaning forward, the masked man smiled innocently.

"What bet?"
Dominik frowned. Some how, he always had a bad feeling whenever the other man smiled like so.

"Are you secure in your masculinity?"
"Naturally."
"Good."
Ferdinand smiled smugly, his expression almost feline-like. The bartender continued on when he got no further reaction from his 'prey'.
"The stake is $5000. The time span is two weeks, and the objective is for you to bed someone before the time is up."

Dominik quirked a brow, unable to resist glancing down the west wing corridors which lead into the suite rooms.

"$5000? I don't have that much money to throw around. Quit joking." Rolling his eyes, the waiter stood up as though to dismiss the topic.

"Guess you're not so secure after all."
Ferdinand laughed at the other's quick reply, leaning back into his seat then with a long drawn out sigh. "What a shame."

".....Name my target.'
Ah. Dominik cursed his pride.

There was only one thing in the world that could make the struggling Reiner not focus at least a modicum of attention onto anyone that happened to be in the vicinity, and that was clutched in his arms in a white-knuckled terrified, near-bowlegged grip as he prayed for the elevator door to open soon.

Moving was a b***h for even a normal person -- there were so many knick-knacks to be moved, dust to be swept off the furniture, boxes to be labeled, packed, taped within an inch of their lives. And then there was checking out of the hotel, paying off past debts, and saying goodbye to the local alley cats that yowled outside his bedroom window. Yeah, normally, things were rough for any relocating refugee.

And then there was Reiner, clutching near-priceless technology, his headphones slipping off his ears and his red-brown hair rumpled, his favorite damned turtleneck torn in two places, and an expression that was halfway between hatred and begging for help -- this, he thought bitterly, is hell. But it was worth it.

Or at least it would be.

As soon as the damned elevator door opened!

He was working his way into a good firm kick to the doors when they opened, and his mood lightened just enough to place a determined grin on his lips as he squared his shoulders, ignored anyone he couldn't see over the top of the oversized box in his arms, and began purposefully striding in the direction of the room he'd been shown to earlier, breathing deep and even as he could manage, and trying not to swear too loudly as his thumb was smashed between the two boxes for the tenth damn time.

There was a heavy silence in the air after that. The two were completely frozen in place, one glaring while the other continued to smile smugly. The elevator rang softly as the doors slide noisily open, admitting out the lighting technician. Still, neither moved as they both waited for Reiner to past them, out of ear shot.

The bartender inclined his head ever so briefly to the side, quirking a slender brow, smile turning into a full on grin at the man facing him.

"There's your target."
The words didn't need to be spoken, Dominik could just as well hear them from the simple expression. With a soft 'hmph', Nik nodded his head to accept the challenge, his eyes darkening briefly. Though despite his show, the man was intrigued himself. Aside from that $5000 stake, it seemed like quite an interesting challenge.

Straightening up, Dominik flicked the bangs out of his face, pulling off his trademark shades and tucking them into his shirt pocket before taking a casual stride down to where the poor man with his large burden was fumbling alone.

While Nik didn't particularly like to play things slick [He much preferred rough housing, but that's another story for another time.], it was standard procedure to at least keep up a facade of friendliness so as to get a handle on his victim. At least until he knew the other's name and what they did. After all, just barging in and seducing was definitely not Dominik's style.

"You look like you could do with some help, hm?"

The voice coming from behind him stiffened Reiner's flagging spine, and he drew himself up, smiling with teeth bared as he tried to find a third hand somewhere to fish his key out of his pocket, and turned his head to catch sight of the other with one curious golden eye. He arched a brow, bemused. What in the name of everything good, holy and delicious could the man want?

"A third hand would be nice," he said, offering that 'I-am-not-entirely-welcoming' grin that had frozen his lips. "Failing that, there's two options, both equally helpful." He eyed his bedroom door for a second, sucking in a deep breath. "You could get my keys out of my pocket --" he shifted one slender, pinstriped hip to gesture which pocket it was in, " -- or you could get one of these boxes and I'll get my own key."

He paused, and snorted, shaking his hair out of his eyes and subsequently shedding his precariously-perched headphones, which clattered to the floor, drawing an irritated swear. "-DAMN- it! I -hate- moving!" He tried to look and check on them, but couldn't see over the boxes in his arms.

Not seeming much phased at the other's smile [Dominik preferred to think it was from the stress of moving. After all, he was not exactly accustomed to anyone be less-than-friendly to him right off the bat.], the waiter flashed a rather amused smile of his own, leaning down to retrieve the headphones gracefully. though not before helping Reiner brush the bangs out of his eyes. It would have been hard to think of the Nik that had been so worked up by a few of Ferdinand's prodding words to the man standing next to Reiner at the moment as the same person. A boy and a man.

"Relax. The more you stress, the more problems will arise."
Keeping his voice in a gentle, soothing tone that he would have never learned if not for his kinder brother, Dominik held out a hand to steady the other's cargo before reaching into Reiner's pocket and pulling out the keys. He was careful not to linger in his movements, in case his goal was made clear.

Inserting the keys into the door and opening the door smoothly, Nik turned, sliding the headset back into their proper place on the owner's head before taking off the top box, bracing himself momentarily under the surprising weight. What the hell did this guy have in there?

"I see why you would hate moving."
Despite the weight on his arms [Which already ached from the last few days of catering], Dominik managed to keep his voice controlled and free.

"What do you have in here? It weighs a ton."

When he'd realized the other wasn't going to simply stand and watch as he wobbled helplessly, some of the hostility went out of Reiner's expression and he simply looked exhausted, drawing in a deep breath as he peered up at the other through now-cleared eyes. He wasn't used to such help; people in general, he had noticed, did not fancy being kind for no personal gain. It took a conscious effort to make himself not be wary.

"My toolbox," he said, and the smile he gave was genuine this time, if charmingly lopsided and still strained -- less weight meant a better mood, and the other was right about the stress multiplying itself as much as it would have galled him to admit it aloud. "And the terminal for a desktop computer, plus a couple of computer manuals..." He slid into the bedroom door backward, with his eyes over one shoulder. "... and... Actually, I think that's it." He snorted as he put his box down carefully on an unoccupied patch of floor -- of which there wasn't much. "I appreciate you getting it for me, though. I've still got my laptop and a couple bags of clothes to haul up."

Did the other expect money for his help? God, Reiner hoped not, but at this point, he would gladly have paid the other the last remaining change in his wallet plus the half-marble floating in the depths of his pockets, as weak and wobbly as his arms were acting.

"I see..."
Dominik stopped as he got one foot into the door however. Being quite tall, he could see over the box in his arms-- And balked at the state of the other's room. While Nik was no neat freak himself, he was surprised at the turmoil it was in. His brother was an obsessive cleaner and kept everything nice and orderly even as they moved in. Since the twins were always together, Dominik had never exactly seen such a chaos excuse for a room.

"Where...should I put this down.......?"
Emphasizing the silence at the end as a silent way of asking the other his name, Nik tossed his head slightly to throw the bangs out of his eyes, leaning against the wall to ease the weight as he better adjusted his grip on the cardboard.

"I'd be in a bad mood if my room was as messy as yours."
Unable to keep the words back any longer, Nik offered an apologetic smile.
"If I may, can I organize this mess for you?"

While he wasn't as effective of a house wife as Viran, being the one that grumbled a lot whenever it was his turn to do the chores, Dominik did happen to be very thorough and know how to get things cleaned up if he set his mind to it. And seeing the sorry state of the place, as well as using it as an excuse to get closer to his target, he was quite intent on sorting the place out.

"Can run down and get the last of the stuff if you have another pair of hands helping out, correct? No point running around twice. You look exhausted."
PostPosted: Tue May 06, 2008 11:50 pm

"Reiner," he supplied in a murmur as he pointed to a sturdier, larger crate the box the other held could go on top of, and couldn't help blushing slightly as the other commented on the sorry state of his bedroom. He looked about with his eyes widened, tugging at a few strands of his rumpled red-brown hair in slight bewilderment. "As far as the bedroom goes... uh, I guess you can. I hadn't really had a chance to make anything neat yet, sorry..."

He felt rather small, and at a disadvantage, with the other smiling so disarmingly at him, and offering help -- he couldn't very well take offense now, could he? Drawing a deep breath, he sighed and nodded, lips curving slightly into a small smile. "Yeah, the help would make things easier, too. I think my shoulder's damned near about to fall off, you know?" Reaching up, Reiner worked the offending joint with one hand, wincing and biting his lip to avoid making a noise of distress as he found the sore spot, easing at it gingerly for a moment with his long fingers. "I've been hauling stuff all damned day."

Reiner rolled his eyes, gesturing about with his free hand and giving a snort. "And now, we've got to get everything unpacked which is just as heavy." He tried not to let his face look -too- sour, after all.

Dominik nodded in acknowledgment of the other's name, but neglected to give his own. It just wasn't his style until someone straight out asked for it. So without further comment, the man transferred the weight on his arms to the appointed place. While the waiter's arms ached dully themselves, Dominik wasn't one to take back an offer.

A ghost of a smile alighted onto his lips as the taller male straightened up, taking another look around the room before stepping out of the area.
"I know where you're coming from. I didn't move in that long ago, anyway." The smile deepened, though it was more in bitter memory. When the twins had moved in, they had separated jobs. Unfortunately for Dominik, he was the one hauling everything up and down while Viran sorted things out. Thankfully, they didn't have much to bring in with them. There was only so much you can have when you used to live on the streets, after all. But then the furniture started coming in....

Laughing at Reiner's expression at the mention of unpacking, the man reached over and patted the other on the back [While it was more of a 'Nik' thing to pat people on the head, he made an exception this time, seeing as most people did not appreciate head pats from taller men.] "Take a rest today. Just get things out of the way as far as your bedroom is concerned and you can have another go at this whole moving thing tomorrow." Grin.
PostPosted: Sat May 10, 2008 7:00 pm

If the other had not been so kind as to offer his help, Reiner would have bristled at being patted -- he would have glared at the other, but instead he couldn't help giving a little smile. "I guess it -is- a good idea to rest, huh? I've been pretty focused on just... getting everything here, making sure I didn't leave too much behind."

Pulling the little music gadget out of his pocket, he tossed that and his headphones onto the table beside his bed, sighing. "Thanks for helping me." Reiner sighed, then shook his head as he looked at Dominik appreciatively. "I don't know if I'd have had the gumption or the ability to organize." He raked one hand back through his hair, rumpling the soft red-brown smoothness. "You should've seen my old apartment. It was a damned mess, parts everywhere..." He snorted quietly, and watched the other's grin for a moment, before laughing self-consciously, the smile smoothing away a little.

"Sorry for rambling," he muttered, sheepishly, dragging his eyes down to the corner of a box as one hand smoothed a piece of tape that had come undone. "I don't talk to people too much."

Dominik smiled warmly. Though one wouldn't be able to tell [Unless they were Ferdinand...and maybe his brother.] that he was merely smiling at the irony of it all. Here the technician was apologizing quite appreciatively for his 'help', with no idea whatsoever of the darker motives behind it. It was cute, really. It'll be cuter with the other screaming in ecstasy below him... But then he's just getting ahead of himself.

"Can't imagine it'd do any good for when you sleep. One generally feels better if their environment is clean and relaxing." The elder of the twins made a gesture around the room with one hand. "And with this much space, it won't be too hard to sort everything out."

Shifting his weight to one foot, Dominik crossed his arms over his stomach, gaze sweeping over the inside room once more. Prying his mind away from his own perverted thoughts, he began in earnest to calculate where and what things would fit where. Despite appearances, the man was actually quite focused in tasks he set out for himself. After all, there was no point in offering to help if he didn't do it with all his heart. Plus, his game could easily be let up if he didn't.

At length, Nik snapped out of his calculations and evened out his weight with another award winning smile.

"Let's go down and get the rest of your stuff, then?"

Ordinarily Reiner's guard would have been up, but if the little danger-sense siren in the back of his skull was going off, it was doing so very quietly; the other seemed surprisingly good at not setting off his pride or distrust. Rubbing his hands along the seams of his pants, he looked at Dominik and nodded, smiling awkwardly.

"I've never slept well anyhow," he muttered, mostly to himself, as he saw that brilliant smile, and suddenly felt for a moment that his own sideways sheepish one was somehow less. Then he laughed a little, embarrassed.

I'm an idiot.

"Of course, let's. I left them downstairs. There's not much left," he mumbled, and beelined for the door, jingling his keys in his pocket as a reflex action at his own foolishness.

"That's not good. You should take care of yourself."
The words came out automatically, an auto-mimic of his brother. God knews how many times Nik had heard Viran say it when he couldn't sleep at night and sat around watching television. Suppressing a smile, the man stepped to one side as Reiner passed him, closing the door before following the technician to the elevators.

Ferdinand was still in the lobby as they passed and the masked bartender looked up briefly from his book with a small, amused smile to them both. Meriting himself a scowl from Dominik, which seemed to satisfy the shorter man just fine, the barkeep returned to the text in his lap. Silent.

In a half effort to fill in the silence as they waited for the elevator, Nik glanced to Reiner with another of his smiles. He probably had a lot of practice making them so sincere.

"Where are you moving in from, if you don't mind me asking?"
PostPosted: Sat May 17, 2008 8:44 pm

"I take care of myself just fine," Reiner muttered, faint heat touching his cheeks as he headed for the elevator in a beeline, shaking his auburn hair from his eyes. He didn't need a lecture. God knew that. Sleep was not for people who had things to think about, whose brains didn't shut up. But bitterness wasn't going to help.

And those damn smiles were like arrows, aimed and precise; Reiner squirmed a little as he waited for the elevator. "Well, I've been living in the city," he explained with a slight grin, rolling his sore shoulder again. "The money ran out, and I got tired of doing my landlord's chores... so I lucked out finding this job, huh?" He didn't meet the other's eyes, but laughed anyway, a little wryly. "If I'd known moving was gonna be such a hassle..."
