Elijah's Profile Name: Elijah Fawsi. Age: 26. Gender: Male. Sexuality: Pansexual. Species: Human. Any Children?: No children. About Me:My name is Elijah, but a number of people call me Eli. I'm a professional performer living in the city, and I take my craft very seriously. I'm a magician and escape artist by title, but I fancy myself a comedian all the same. It is my greatest ambition to entertain people and bring them smiles, laughs, and thoughts of wonder. There's nothing more incredible than showing someone something they may not understand or believe. It adds a little charm to life, and that is why I greatly enjoy what I do. I like to have fun. Mostly I like to experiment. Try new things, learn, venture, broaden horizons. I find that sort of thing enlightening. I really like to travel, particularly out to the country side where the grass grows tall and there is scenery to be seen. I also have two rather special mice, Houdini and Leopold, who have been with me for a very long time. I like rodents, and I really do feel that people misunderstand their nature. Over-all? I think I'm a fairly intelligent and nice guy. I simply enjoy having a good time. Hobbies: Magic tricks, theater, entertainment, football (soccer), reading, and modern art. Caring for my mice. I also like science and history. I suppose you could say I'm a bit of a 'geek', though that seems relatively harsh. Talents: Well, this seems a little tricky. I'm good with magic tricks, illusionary art, and escape art. I can do a lot of things most people wouldn't dream of doing; the longest I can hold my breath is for three whole minutes! I could probably go even longer. I think I'm fairly good with modern art and item arrangement to gain interesting visual appeal. I'm fantastic at football, though I'm not really any good at other sports. I think I'm a decent singer, but that has been subject to debate for years. Looking For: Adventure. Excitement. A little pizazz to spice things up even more. Someone interesting, and smart - who at least knows what they're talking about when they open that mouth of theirs. Perhaps cooperative, or at least understanding. Someone who shares and shoulders, but knows when to point or take blame. I'm not particularly choosy. Surprises. Affection. Understanding. Someone who is relatively sincere and knows how to have a good time. And someone who doesn't mind rodents. Other: I enjoy games of chance. Nothing like it in the world. It's remarkable.

Quote: "I consider that a man's brain originally is like a little empty attic, and you have to stock it with such furniture as you choose. A fool takes in all the lumber of every sort that he comes across, so that the knowledge which might be useful to him gets crowded out, or at best is jumbled up with a lot of other things, so that he has a difficulty in laying his hands upon it. Now the skilful workman is very careful indeed as to what he takes into his brain-attic. He will have nothing but the tools which may help him in doing his work, but of these he has a large assortment, and all in the most perfect order. It is a mistake to think that that little room has elastic walls and can distend to any extent. Depend upon it - there comes a time when for every addition of knowledge you forget something that you knew before. It is of the highest importance, therefore, not to have useless facts elbowing out the useful ones." - Sir Arthur Conan Doyle. t a b l e o f c o n t e n t s

Description:
Elijah is a peculiar individual, which appears to reflect within his over-all appearance and posture. He is fluid, unsettled, and lacking a sense of formality. Indeed, his characteristics are almost marked by a slight sloop of his shoulders and a lack of attention to his gaze and posture. He seems almost dazed in focus. At times it can be unsettling, if not difficult, trying to equate whether or not he is paying attention. Nevertheless, his seemingly crude mannerisms are rivaled by an uncanny joy. Elijah is a happy man. He is contented, thoughtful, and provocatively philosophic. His smile is often eager and excitable; it floods his face like a washed light, brightening when he may hear something intriguing. He makes no hesitation to grin a toothy, Cheshire Cat grin from time to time, which seems to add a stretched beam to his narrowed face. His joy is perhaps the most endearing and evident quality surrounding him, for there is scarcely a look that is not shrouded in impish glory or tacit hilarity. He speaks wonders through his features, specifically the motions of his mouth and eyes (thus it is important to grasp their expressionate nature of calculating wit; he is almost satirical and devious in expression - certainly far from suave or comfortable).
His physical build is estranged as a combination of wiry wildness and being 'undersized'. He claims his slump diminishes his height (and he refuses to nullify the habit for sake of his comfort), thus proclaiming his exact measurement as relatively near 5'8"; however, fact subtracts two inches from his claim and he logically stands at 5'6". His features are angular and vivid in nature. They are sharp, accenting, firm structure. In that respect, Elijah is particularly bony. While not abnormally thin, his frame depicts itself as lean. Therefore his strength is obviously not sensible; he is not toned nor developed in physique in the least. A top his angular, pasty face rests an unruly bit of pumpkin orange hair that contrasts his pallor. It is bright, giddy, and energetic. The curls are cut short, yet a meager amount manage near the edge of his forehead and over, thus acting as small 'bangs'. The style is generally tossled, quirky, and questionable, depicting a possibly hectic lifestyle. Nevertheless, his mess and lacking formality seems contradicted by his choice of dress.
If there is one thing Elijah considers a vitality, it is the presentation of attire. He wholly buys into the idea of clothing making the presentation, and given his occupational choice he binds himself to a specific uniform that seems unabashed. He wears comfortably fitting button up shirts, typically a simple white in color, and generally black slacks with business-esque shoes. He does not wear a tie, nor coat jacket on any given occasion; hats are also off limits, as he does not enjoy the feel of them.
Personality: Elijah's mannerisms and opinions appear to be shrouded by a blatant mist of philosophic humor. He is a thoughtful individual, but contaminated by wit, satire, and farce in a manner which brings out his intense desire to ... stretch a situation. Simply speaking, he is a comedic man, who is engulfed by the hilarity of every day activity or thought. He strives to make any situation seem comical, and often he does that with basic observations. The lady is wearing a blue hat; what is beneath the blue hat? He pushes the line of sensical and absurdity with a loose regard of what may be logical. Elijah loves his humor; he loves his act, and in that rests the truth --- he is a natural performer. He is typically bright and happy, though his mood is genuinely subjected to circumstance. He is a reactive person. His mood is almost strictly determined by his atmosphere, or events which may have occurred throughout his day.
Perhaps one of the most fine-tuned details Elijah contains is his adoration of magic and escape. As was being said, he is an absurd man, and enjoys drawing the line between something sensible and something nonsensical. His infatuation with illusion and trickery is nothing to think lightly of. He considers it a masterful art, and strives for performance after performance in an almost lusty manner. He is excitable when it comes to his magic and his stunts. As he would put it: there is an adrenaline rush to showing someone something they can't begin to understand the process of. There's an even greater rush when that something is reckless or supposedly impossible. The process or image itself is usually beautiful in its own way.
This intrigue and vast obsession with his occupation, hobby, and talent can prove difficult. There is no quarrel of the matter; Elijah tends to over-do his trickery at times, which can come across difficult or uncomprehensive. Even serious situations seem unscathed by his humor and will to fool the eye to make it laugh (his favorite tricks usually involve such spontaneous actions as elongating a handkerchief or making coins appear 'from thin air' in mid-conversation when it isn't truly necessary).
In terms of his art as an escapist: Elijah enjoys "defying stunts" or things which test the limits of the human body, mind, and patience. He's very well apt to drive himself mad for the act of experimentation, which raises the question ... Is he a masochist? One can't be too sure, but he claims to feel elated and overjoyed when dangling ten feet above the ground in some ungodly way. The more difficult or bizarre the stunt, the more personal pleasure (mentally, of course) he seems to derive. His favorite stunts often involve strait-jackets and dangling upside down.
Despite his quirky habits and wit, Elijah is an intellectual at heart. He adores books, and it's quite rare not to find one or two on his person. He is particularly intrigued by science and history, finding that the two go hand-in-hand to create an amazing view of societal progression. He lavishes in study, and his eagerness to express what he may know or have learned is not disputable. He enjoys talking about such things, just as he enjoys the philosophic outlook of life (asking "why?" over even small things. Purpose-searching, one might say). However, he does not enjoy lecturing, as he believes one-sided conversations are mundane and impersonal. Alongside his books, Elijah has a love for television and entertainment. He simply enjoys fun, and anything which can provoke that often finds a way to weasel into his life. Live for the moment. That's what he appears to try and believe and live by.
Naturally, he is a sociable person. He has a preference for social activity and atmosphere. Interaction. Elijah is well-tuned on such things and speaks quite easily with others. His articulation is particularly good; it should be noted he speaks with a relative, proper accent which focuses on his vowels. He speaks from the back of his mouth more-so than the front, in technical terms. Yet, returning to social scenarios: he enjoys people. He enjoys being near them, spending his time with them, and therefore is very apt to being out and about. He is affectionate, humane, and polite, with a particular charm melded into his suave, unorthodox demeanor. He isn't shy, and actually is fast to jump into attempting conversation with strangers ... Even at Bus Stops. Unfortunately, he has a lacking patience for people as well. He is fickle, stingy. During disagreeable situations he is quick to lose his temper and may say something he does not necessarily mean. Consequentially, his stubborn tendencies can lead to fit-like tantrums and a refusal to admit apologies. He is not quick to admit he was wrong in doing something --- though it should be known that he does not necessarily believe he was correct in situations like that. He may know he is wrong, but refuse to admit it. Proud, boastful, and stubborn --- but not naively blind. Circumstances of that nature are often delicate, and as an emotional individual Elijah behaves on a spectrum. He may not care at all whether someone is angry with him in one instance, but, at the same time, there may be situations which lead him to deeply concern himself with the events at hand. In that respect, his temper and his pride are severe flaws. Even greater, though, is trust. Elijah values trust. He values integrity, and honesty. He would never lie, it's against his code. Although, that is no to say he discloses every drop of information about a situation. His form of 'lying' is more of a failure to disclose details. He refuses to make things up, but he is inclined to censor information. He often expects others to keep their promises or behave honestly, however. When they fail to do so, he is more likely to be expressively bitter and upset. In more radical ways than he would be were there a casual disagreement. Therefore, such is important: Elijah intensely values trust, and a violation of it is difficult for him to look past. Combining his flaws, it's safe to say that his core difficulty falls into line with "letting it be" or "letting go". His negative responses are complex, but it's very clear that he has trouble forgiving and forgetting. On a similar note of social standing, Elijah values the company of animals nearly as much as the company of human beings.

Born to a lower class family residing in the urban center of Durem, Elijah's childhood was, and is, nothing of which he minces words about. In fact, he seems rather disinclined to acknowledge it as a whole beyond the occasional bitter joke ("I am the Pied Piper, only with morality in tact"). He was the fifth, and youngest, child born to his mother. However, his father's origins are questionable given the timing of his birth. Nevertheless, his childhood was scarcely subjugated by the context of which he was born. More so, his childhood was scrutinized by the complexity of impoverished, large family life.
He was never close to his father, distancing himself from a young age due to the man's pessimistic and realist nature. It's highly suggestible that Elijah's adoration of the illogical and the logic was born of his exposure to such behavior. Still, he housed a rocky relationship with the man, and by age six had gone out of his way to disregard the existence of such a depressing and generally absent man. His mother, however, was the light of his life - and Elijah trailed after her like a love-stricken lamb. The relationship with his mother is something he refuses to discuss, thus little is known beyond his overwhelming fondness of her approval and support.
It was around such an age of six that Elijah became infatuated with magic tricks and the craft of magicians. He had encountered a street performer who had done a variety of basic tricks, the like of which Elijah began imitating immediately after the show. Surprisingly, he excelled at the act of slight and cunning - and by age nine was doing small performances of traditional magic tricks for his family, friends, and teachers. There was little denial that he was a talented boy. Unfortunately, with great talent came great quirks. Elijah quickly began experimenting with his tricks at inappropriate times, disrupting his classes, or waking others up at odd ends of the night. His sleeping habits seemed on the decline as he remained awake for hours to watch late night television specials on the seemingly ancient television set in the living room ... Or to obnoxiously continue the practice. Indeed, he slaved religiously over the matter to the point of his passion being absurd. Still, his work paid off when, by the age of twelve, he was performing amateur tricks at the local talent shows.
Despite his overwhelming success with the skill, Elijah's general life was less than glamorous. He often could not afford the things he desired, which tended to embarrass him amongst his peers. He was adamant about hiding his life from his schoolmates and friends, though the attempts were more than futile if not halfway done. While his relationships with friends were unscathed by the shoddy, over-crowded row-house which he resided in, his relationship with schoolyard bullies was. He was typically known as the runt of the 'rat-pack', as well as by a variety of other names which he regards presently with ill-humor more so directed at point making than anything else. From quirk to spaz to fruitcake and beggar-boy, to comments regarding his mother, his siblings, what he considered to be his dead beat father. Elijah took the matters harshly and was often disinclined to venture into school, resulting in frequent absences. He was particularly defensive of his mother, often brawling (and losing) for the sake of honor. Such incidents became increasingly provident as his mother fell ill and inevitably died when he turned fifteen.
After his mother's death, Elijah permit himself the will to give up on formal education. He set to schooling himself on matters which he deemed important - and at sixteen he had left high school to pursue the working world. To his dismay, he began working labor jobs with his father, who he had been driven into an interactive relationship with after the death of his mother and departure of his four older siblings. Still, Elijah was a fickle, stingy, and discontented young man. He eventually quit the job to pursue a career as a magician and performer. The decision was a turning point in his life in that his somewhat improving relationship with his father was severed by an argument regarding responsibility and person. Even within the present, the two do not speak.
From that point on Elijah set himself up to perform vigorously wherever he felt his big shot may emerge. He was a regular at theatrical auditions, but more so near the grand train station where he performed near the ticket booth with spontaneous volunteers. It was there which he found his mysterious, long-living, rodents, Houdini and Leopold, who became his constant companions and performance partners. Soon, Elijah began to realize a mundane quality to just surprising people with magic tricks. He began experimenting with escape art, and had soon developed an overwhelming fancy for the brutal physicality of the craft. By age eighteen he had mastered a number through observation and inquiries with professionals he encountered at fairs.
It was this blend and obsessive interest in both crafts which swelled Elijah's ability to deliver. His quirky charm, thickly accented voice, and complex demeanor drew audiences in - and his seemingly nonchalant reactions to bizarre situations were often comedic, if not enlightening from an observational stand-point. By twenty he had quickly become a notable local performer with reoccurring weekly shows. Perhaps the greatest assist to his notability was his social life, however. Upon his successes, Elijah's natural tendency to be loud and heard emerged. He became highly, and visibly, sociable - frequenting social institutions that would allot him entry. He was vigorous with the idea of community acquaintance, but there remained a peculiar gap between him and intimacy (which would continue into the present). He never once dated or spoke of the possibilities, though there were the occasional running gags regarding his singularity. "I guess I'm a little too magical for real people," he would chastise. "Or maybe I am the puzzle they would rather observe than solve?" His failed levels of intimacy scarcely seemed to phase his general interaction with friends, both long-time and short-lived. Yet it is reportable that he was frequently bothered by the absence of it, and has been for years.
Within the present, Elijah has not achieved a fame greater than local notability - though he regards fame itself loosely ("I am more interested in committing the act than being known for the act"). He lives in urban Durem, owning a small one-room apartment and 'skimming by' (as he would put it).

Elijah's home is a relatively small apartment located in the urban district of Durem. It consists of one room styled in a rather off way - with his bed seated promptly near the window and the door, as well as adjacent to his desk and books. His television set sits atop a table surrounded by two futon-esque sofas. A kitchen is just a ways beyond the sofas towards one of the walls, where a refrigerator, stove, and other materials linger for use. A bar separates the kitchen and the room, and that area has justly been designated for his mice through innovative construction. Despite Elijah's messy habits and demeanor, his home is particularly tidy, stressing that he likes a degree of order in some areas of life.

Remington Alloy
Elijah's childhood friend and landlord; he and Remington are considerably close to one another. Their relationship often goes undescribed, but typically it may be associated with kinship. Remington often acts as Elijah's manager, booking his performances and assisting in the act of scouting out open slots.
 Houdini and Leopold
Elijah's pet mice. He treasures them greatly and often refers to him as his 'mischief partners'. They endure a peculiar longevity given the average life span of a mouse, which often leads Elijah to believing they are some how special. They are frequently carried with him in a variety of casings, most notably a small shoe box.
