Izumi-Chan's suggestions of meditation got me to thinking... What do you do to meditate? Or for those who do not, how do you unwind yourself from a stressful day...or just out of daily routine?
Me? Well. Sate the obvious, listen to music. Not that relaxing sorts, though. Was never a big fan of it. Just music in general. Give me Don Henley, Sakamoto Maaya, or--Hells--even Billy Idol. I am good to go.
But about ten minutes ago--when I should have been studying for school--I was partially and casually cleaning my room. And I found my meditation balls that my boyfriend's parents gave to me as a stocking stuffer for Christmas this past year.
Now. It may not seem like it, but I am having serious relationship issues--amongst other things--so I was just simply rolling the meditation balls in my hands and I got to looking at it. I can only do so with my right hand. And, funny enough, I am left-handed.
Anywho!! I am so getting off topic here.
I am only curious of what your routines--if any--may be.

I find it is particularly easy to meditate after doing yoga since it can be such a rigorous work out it's easy to relax. All I really have to do is listen to my heart beat and think of a place I would like to be.
Since it is not always possible to spend time doing yoga I find playing video games, reading, and listening to music good ways to enter the meditative state.

aside from the wonders of art, movies, my husband, exercise, and yoga.....
I take ALOT of medication. Here is the list of my fabulous relaxants....
1. xanax 2. ativan 3. celexa 4. lexipro 5. Skullcap (herb for anxiety)
I try more [color=green]herbs than chemicals though. You never know what the hell is in prescription drugs or what they will do to you. And the doctors have no idea. Plus herbs are actually healthy, and unlike antibiotics they won't cause you a nasty yeast infection after use. biggrin

I tend to use different meditation techniques depending on my mood and the situation.. Like yesterday, Mommy and I were at Wallmart and there were so many people there! I mean, more than usual and they all seemed to be shopping in the grocery department!.. I have very bad social anxiety.. I will literally get sick to my stomach if I'm in an enclosed area with too many people.. and I haven't been around that many people at one time sense sixth grade (the last year I went to public school)! I had to retreat to the craft department and sat down at the pattern books and just imagined I was in a big room all alone and concentrated on trying to get my breathing back to normal... It took about five minutes and really freaked out the ladies working there...... But I lived! And I didn't throw up!
erm.. that was a bit longer than I meant for it to be...
Other common ways I meditate would include working on fillet-crochet (it's the exact same stitches over and over and over), winding thread and/or yarn balls, hand sewing (usually kimono), working with clay (or just mushing around a kneeded eraser.. those things are so much fun!), drawing, painting miniature houses and people for Mommy's Christmas village (we've been asked to be on the Historical Homes Tour again for this coming Christmas), and I'm probably boring everyone to tears about now, so I'll stop here......
