The making of a little fimo octopus, which I chose to boil instead of putting it in the oven. I like the speckled effect it got! ^_^

Hee! That's cute. *grabby hands*
I've always steered away from boiling as I've heard mixed views on it's effectiveness at curing the clay (since the recommended oven temp is 130C and boiling only reaches 100C) But clearly I'm being paranoid smile

The octopus turned out okay, but I've actually tried other pieces with which baking would probably have been more effective.
But it's holding out quite well, though! ^_^;

ooo, the colors of the clay became very interesting. I really reccomend you glaze it now to protect that interesting texture and to give a nice finished look. : D

It's very nice

What gave you the idea to boil sculpy? I have never heard of that before.
Well, I know some people prefer to boil their Munnys when they use sculpy on them, but that's to protect the integrity of the vinyl. But what's the benefit to boiling a piece that's entirely sculpy? I'm just curious.

Boiling gives a different texture to the finish. It also doesn't get as hardened.

I like the semi-mottled look he has. it makes him look more realistic. I like the pinprick 'suckers'. They give a good look without having to do all those tiny little knobbies. lol

Ahah, yes, I decided to go for the easier (lazier? Hmm) procedure and liked how it turned out. ^_^ I used a pen, that has since stopped writing >_>; But it was for a good cause!

Ghola: Because of the texture, really. Also, like the previous poster pointed, it doesn't get as hardened, although that wasn't something I intended.

I haven't ever heard of boiling sculpey/fimo. I really like how your octopus came out!
