How high does the Sycamore grow?Hey guys! I'm working on a novel version of Twilight Princess.
Now there's been some controversy in Twilight Princess on whether it's Midna he falls for or Ilia, and each people have their reason.
Well I need your opinions. Are you a Link/Ilia shipper or a Link/Midna shipper? And why?
I'm having trouble deciding who he falls for in the end, and I'd like some advice to make up my mind.
I made him fall for Ilia at first but I may change it. The reason I made it Ilia was because they've been best friends since childhood. They've shared so much, their innermost secrets and feelings (at least that's my assumption since they are best friends). No one understands Ilia like Link does, and vice versa. They have a very special bond.
But I may change it to Midna, because it's kind of like this typical love story. They meet, and one finds the other annoying, rude, selfish and obnoxious at first, but slowly they change and soon they warm up to eachother. Plus I think they both learned something from eachother during their travels. They get to know eachother and find things out about themselves in the proccess.
But I wanna hear your thoughts. Post away!
If you cut it down, then you'll never know...

That's a really hard decision. When I first started reading your post I was all like "MIDNA!! GO WITH MIDNA!!" cause I totally HATE it when the hero falls for the damsel in distress thing (SO CLICHE), but then I remembered that yeah, Ilia and Link do have a lasting thing for each other. They're much closer than Midna/Link since, like you said, they've spent most of their lives together. I think that is the best way relationships grow. Plus the game makes it clear that they really care for each other (i.e. ILIA MEMORY CUTSCENE :] ).
But then I also think that Midna/Link is an arguably good setup. They've saved each other a lot of times, and come on, it's obvious Midna loves Link at the end, she even almost said that!!! But I still think Ilia/Link would be more appropriate, especially cause Midna goes back off to the Twilight Realm and destroys the only known way of getting back (DARNIT).
This does not affect my standing superior ideal of Zelda/Link. But that wasn't one of your options, so I figured Ilia/Link was second best. If you could pull off Zelda/Link (only if you wanna) I would be even more excited!!!
I should point out that Zelda is DEFINITELY NOT a damsel in distress in Twilight. Ilia fills that role much more accurately. Ganon only captured Zelda because she sacrificed her spirit to save Midna, which left her body open for kidnapping. So this does not apply to my earlier statement of the whole "I hate heroes falling for princesses in distress" ideology.

Yeah I agree. Plus the reason I think Midna destroyed the Mirror was because she know his heart was somewhere else.

I'd avoid a love interest all together, personally.Akeyami I should point out that Zelda is DEFINITELY NOT a damsel in distress in Twilight. Ilia fills that role much more accurately. ... But she was originally captured and taken over by Zant, who threatened the fate of her kingdom to keep her in check, and then it shifted over to Ganon later on. So either way she was one of the damsels who needed rescuing, regardless of who held her hostage or whether or not she helped you out in her prison.

I forgot all about that part (it's been a while since I've played). sweatdrop And you're right.
But I still think she kicks all other Zeldas totally out of the park. I loved this one.
