Blue rolling waves as far west as you can see. The vast deep ocean has shifted or receeded since the great cataclysm but still seems too wide to cross. The calming blue waters are deep and full of marine life.

An open-Sending washed through the currents a few miles as each day the Wavedancer asked, **Are you looking for me? It's me, Crosscurrent, who was with Eltiln and Jellyfish-Jumper. Is anyone there?**
And the red tailed elf would wait. Stretching his mental thoughts as far as he could, already far from the land. For many days he did this. There was food to catch and things to do but the lone Wavedancer always made time to wait for the touch of familiar minds.
**Adir? Brother?**
**What news do you bring?**
and, on the later days it would end with a faded, softer, heart-sore Sending..
**Here I am.**

The hurricane above was heavily felt below. Warm waters dropped in temptures somewhat rapidly; many of the scavengers were tucked away in the sands or burrows in the reefs.
Crosscurrent was finishing his own haven.
It was distressing to dive deep, away from his friend's Sending (although the Glider mother-to-be had), and so he didn't know if she'd gotten the warning in time, but he needed to secure himself first. Alarming but not so deadly that common-sense wouldn't see everyone through it. The semi-small cave he had cleared out actually had a curved entrance. He had stocked it with what little extra food he'd caught, his hard-made gear, and tucked in to wait.
There was nothing more to do. It was boring to stay there, but getting dangerous to go out. So he lay in such a way as to be peering out (curious, bored, watchful) of his new cave home. His long fair hair pulled before him by tugging currents - he enjoyed how much it resembled the coral kelp in all but color. The motion playfully soothing to his scalp as he sang aloud to himself.
And the Wavedancers, who played with dolphins and whales, who might know only a few instruments such as drum and pipe, were excellent singers.
He also Sent as he sang.

It was another empty day for Airana. Without the joy of her tribe she found small things to be joyful about but today seemed hard for some reason. She was missing everyone a great deal this day. Slowly she made her way along the oceans floor looking at this and that. As she stopped to look over an oyster that was clamped shut a song popped into her head. She hummed for a while as the waters moved about her. Amber eyes glanced up to see fish swimming by in large numbers and still the song plays in her mind. Humming on as her mind brings her a tune she starts to wonder if the tune was her mind or another's. Fathom becomes silent. Hushing her mind from thought and straining to hear. There it was. The song she was hearing. The beating heart now began to throb hard with excitement. She was off in a flash to the singer of the song. As she swam she also sang the familiar song in send form. The send filled with her joy and excitement.

It seemed to Fathom that the song vanished as quickly as it had appeared. Her swimming stopped and she strained to hear. Hear with both mind and ears. A deep sadness seemed to overwhelm her. Had she just heard the song in her mind? Was anyone from her tribe live still or was she all there was anymore. Now she moved slowly without purpose. Drifting through the waters as unseen tears mixed with the salty ocean. She wondered if she was going mad. Should she just find a place to put herself and let the sea have her. Such thoughts were strange to Fathom but the intense loneliness brought on many thoughts she never had before. Then something caught her eye. It was a gaping hole in the ground. She knew better then to just go into holes in the sides of thing as creatures liked them for homes and sometimes the long razor toothed eels would snap. Holes that went down though were new places to look over and so she slipped inside. Amber eyes quickly adjusted to the dark. It was tight in places but she squirmed through.

When she burst forth from the rip in the ground Fathoms mind called out, *Crosscurrent!* Her heart pounded as she waited for a responce. She was motionless except her hair. Eyes wide she scanned the waters as far as they would see. She thought to herself, "Please answer me. Please High Ones let him hear my call."

He was tired, worn down, so that his sleep was deeper then normal. The tug of the currents swayed him asleep.
Somehow Crosscurrent slept during the storm.

Fathoms joy was fading swiftly. No response could mean a few things. Was the youth mistaken? No she couldn't be, it was said in a send. Was he dead? Her heart skipped a beat at the thought as that would be unbearable. Maybe he was out of sending reach now. That possibility was the one she liked best. She swam and called more. *CROSSCURRENT!* Using both send and voice she kept trying. "CROSSCURRENT ARE YOU THERE?" Still the lack in response made her heart heavy as hope started to fade.

He wasn't as strong a sender as some, and to be frank he had been running himself a bit thin lately to make a temporay 'home' without any help. So he had slept heavier then usual. The storm had tugged him in his little burrow .. and the Sending mingled with the turmoil even as he kept dreaming.
But, although not awake, Adin Crosscurrent's mind gave that reassuring 'presence' that all elves not dead or awake Sent.
ooc: what can i say. Teasing much is he. Apologies for the long delay.

Getting the "Please leave a message send" made her heart leap yet again. He was around. Was he hurt? Fathom kept sending. Trying hard to locate where the ping was coming from. She must have looked like a frightened fish trying to find a hole in a net. Still she would not give up now that she knew he was here somewhere. In this part of the vast deep where she was. Amber colored eyes kept close watch of movement as the bluish hair seemed to only get in her way with each stop she made. Fathom wanted to leap for joy out of the water knowing another wavedancer was soon to be found but the storm raged on so leaping had to wait. *CROSSCURRENT! PLEASE GIVE ME MORE THEN THE KNOWING THAT YOU BREATH!* Her mind reached as far as it could, straining to find him. The voice calling his name as well. Her mind drifted back to the thought of him being hurt. A light frown started to tug on the corners of her lips. The dagger teeth were without mercy to everything if they hungered. The very thought of sharks making Fathoms dark skin prickle up. After all she had no weapon to defend herself. Her only option would be to out swim a predator or hide from one. Razor teeth made her silence her verbal call. Not wanting to attract attention she moved closer to the ocean floor and moved slowly through the shadowy overhang of cliff rocks. Her dark flesh and gray tail fitting in well with such colors. Now the mind searched for the response alone. No point screaming for one who will not answer back. She felt close and a longing inside her grew. A longing for kinship, shared tales of history and the warm face of another. One she could swim with and sing with. In truth it would be nice to be doted on as well a bit. Fathom was and always had been spoiled and somehow the High Ones even saw fit to give her what she most wanted. Another of her own to befriend.

Time seemed to lag horribly for the impatient elfess. Lightly sending to Crosscurrents mind and waiting for the reply tone and following its direction. At times Fathom even found her mind sidetracked to the youth in the cave. What did she call herself gain? Wufrider? That was something she could ask Crosscurrent once he was found. Her temper was starting to get the better of her when she saw something odd. It was whitish kelp in the distance. As she swam closer she realized it wasn't kelp at all. It was hair, long hair as if waving her in the right direction. Her sending stopped and she darted to the welcomed sight. Slowly, with lower lip pressed between her teeth Fathom peered around the corner. It was a good sized opening and just inside was a sleeping Crosscurrent. A delicate hand covered her mouth to hold back a gasp of delight. Unseen tears filled her eyes. She lowered herself to the floor of the cave and made her face level with his. As she reached out to touch his face she saw her fingers trembling but pressed on anyway. Tracing the outline of his face, letting her fingers flow through some of the long hair and saying his name softly, "Crosscurrent. Open your eyes my friend. We are no longer alone." Her own long hair starting to mix up with his as she lay there still except for the light movement of her tail from time to time. The dark gray shark body a nice match to the deep red tail he had.

He fell into a sounder sleep as the warmth pressed against it. It helped settle some of the tension he had, even dreaming. Crosscurrent was one who had always near another: both as a result of his childhood and to insure a guard was watching.
As the warmth spread he started shifting a little to find more.
Not to long after Crosscurrent, with a pleased smile, snagged an arm out to 'inspect' his partner. His brother might swat it (without either waking they'd been told) or his guard would briefly touch it to let him fall back into sleep. A lovemate might cuddle back, but younglings 'caught' while he'd been napping would be wiggling away.
None of them happened in the few second his hand touched the Other. And that, more then any really desire to, woke him completely.
Bright green eyes snapped open in confused alarm as he went ridged: not moving because he didn't know where he was in relation to his surroundings.
His heart kept racing, but some part relaxed as he indentified a tribemate... even if it took a few seconds to recall a name. That didn't stop him from suddenly hugging her in joy.

A light squeal of surprise and joy popped out as Crosscurrent embraced her followed by laughter. She returned the embrace tightly. Overjoyed at finding someone, anyone just as he seemed to be. Her mind touched his with such feeling as well. No words needed to let him know her heart was full and soul no longer alone. Again she placed a hand on his cheek. "Oh my friend it is beyond joy to see you." Again her eyes fluttered as tears mixed with the ocean waters.
The touch and warmth of another warming Fathoms heart so much she felt her chest might burst. She didn't want to let him go for fear of him slipping away somehow. Enjoying the closeness of another for a few moments more then pulling only a slight bit away to say, "Tell me how you got here. Are we even near our once home?" She looked out the cave entrance with a slight frown. "Everything has changed so much I can't tell. Sometimes I think I see something familiar but I'm never sure."

Crosscurrent shook his head. "No. I think the familiar parts were pushed far, like us. Because there is little chance that we were the only survivors. Three if Jellyfish-Jumper is still seeking the tribe." While confident he still worried, and it showed in the small shifts he made as he looked outside. Then green eyes went back to her as he slowly pulled from the embrace to better converse.
"But tell me, Fathom, of your adventure since the moon fell."

The question made Fathom look away. Remembering that day and every day after it till this moment hurt. Still overwhelmed with a mix of emotions she lifted a slender arm as if to beg a moment to compose herself. When she had done so Fathom told of how she was split from Darkperl while on an excursion into the dark waters of the ocean floor. How pained she was to leave him and yet knew she must do as he wished. The mournful cry of her brother at the loss of his mate and how she suddenly couldn't breath. Then waking someplace unfamiliar and just trying to stay live and away from hungry predators. Between tears and laughter she told him how she was going mad from loneliness. The crack in the cliff wall that led her to land elves and a youth she found quite pleasing to talk to if even once. She told him of how the young one mentioned him and that was what set her out to find him. Now the preening peacock fish was starting to be her normal self with complaints over mussed hair and none to tell her how much they were bothered by her doting when she knew better.
In the end she smiled at him, *It is so good to see you. To touch you and know you are real.* She lifted a hand to his face again as she caressed his cheek lightly. It was done as if to prove to herself she was not dreaming and someone she really knew was before her, smiling at her and just as happy to see her as she was him.
