I'm constantly looking at the lyrics and listening to the song....
I believe it's about revealing your true self....letting the snake die and being who you really are
What do you think?

As with almost any Tool song, it's hard to say. To me it sounds like changing your whole personality. The snake would be that part of you that tells you not to change and threatens you with what all bad might happen if you change. "Blood before me" being the part of you that desperately wants to change. At a point in the song, the "character" finally does change, remembers who they were in the past "i could have cried" and "recalling all of the times i have died..." But in the end they can still feel that old part of them that they can never get rid of, and it's still hurting them "I am too connected to you to slip away, to fade away. Days away I still feel you touching me, changing me, and considerately killing me."
I'm just guessing at this though, like just about any Tool song, it's all heavily open to interpretation.

..this song i think isnt meant to be about one particulat thing...it could be about regret..or just sadness..its so hard to understand it...its one of those songs where its up to the listener to interpret it his/her own way and meanings....i love it though.....my opinion..i think it might be about love...idk.
