Making of a Kitten head charm

You'll need:
Polymer clay, wire, scissors (old dull manicure scissors for example), toothpicks.

Choose the color of your kitten as you wish, mine will be white this time (I like black better though...). She'll have black eyes and a pink mouth.

These are my "tools"

Step 1
Make a nice round ball.

It's easiest to do by rolling the clay between your two palms.

Step 2
Next, take the scissors and cut a piece out of the ball. (picture above^)

And this is the result: User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.

Now turn the not so round ball round again and smoothen out the cut trace on the smaller piece. Try not to change it's shape much.

Step 3
Place a pink diamond shaped piece of polymer clay on the small cut out piece.

Cut it into half like this.

And place it on the round ball like normal cat ears.

Make sure they are not going to fall off. You can secure it more after baking by adding super glue to the places where different parts are connected.

Now add the hook. Also secure this with super glue later.

Step 4
Add the face.
Do it so: Eyes make small round black balls and place them on the head, then roll them flat with a toothpick.
Mouth roll a small strip out of the clay, place and position on the face with the help of toothpicks. Apply a bit pressure to secure it.

Additional items:
I have used a silver bead that had been split in half as a bell under the kittens "chin". (click for the image)
Be creative and have fun making charms!

That looks really nice! Very cute, too >_<
I had a question, back when I took a brief lesson in clay sculpting, I learned that to bond appendeges (for lack of a better word), like the ears, to the main body, you could poke small holes on the bottom where it's going to stick and that helps it bond better to the main structure. Would that work for this?
I hope that made sense sweatdrop

well... polymer clay is very different from normal clay. But I'm sure it could help a little.. If the piece is bound to break off at some point, I use a piece of a toothpick or a piece of wire as a support inside the item. (hidden like a bone XDD )
