I have a Saddlebred mare who has acute road founder. I take her out on trails with rocks, as well as on our dirt road(only at a walk). Her pasture is also rocky, because of the soil. I recently talked to the vet, and he told me that she has road founder, and from the look of her hooves, she's had it for some months now. What is the best treatment for this?

For the best treatment, I would work with your farrier and your vet ... treatment would depend on how severe or mild of a case she has and what damage has been done etc. I'm not too educated in this area - but working with your farrier & vet would be my best advice.
How has she been?

As long as she is sound, not in any pain, I would continue to ride her or hand walk her (walking only!). Getting some boots to protect her feet would be a good idea (I'm guessing she's barefoot? I don't know). Any sort of founder can take up to a year to grow out of their feet, so you'll have to be patient about it. Road founder may not have anything to do with rocky soil. It's caused by repeated concussion on hard surfaces.
