Jethro opened Elissa's violin case, making sure that there wasn't anything wrong with it. He never expected this plan to last so long. He had always figured Elissa would back off or that she would be found out. But so far everything was going as perfectly as it could be.

Temperance hugged Elissa, saying "It is wonderful to see you! How have you been?" Temperance released her friend, and taking her arm, led her into the salon where the instruments sat waiting for the players.

Elissa accepted the hug and walked with Temperance. "I have been alright, nothing tragic has happened since I last saw you."

"Tragic was what happened before." Temperance said, taking her seat behind the grand harp in the salon. " I hope that you will be attending the Crown polo tournament on Friday. The invitations have been sent. Did you receive one?".

Jethro closed the case and carried it to the salon, overhearing the past bit of their conversation. "I have her invitation, Temperence." He paused to give Elissa her violin, then reached into his pocket and pulled out an envelope. "I couldn't risk your mother finding it in the mail." He said to Elissa as he held it out to her. Elissa took her case, and grabbed the envelope. She opened her case, took out her violin and put the envelope in her case. "I should be able to go, so far she doesn't have anything planned for us." She picked up her bow and played a C major scale, closing her eyes and tuning when it was needed.

Temperance cocked her head to the side as she leaned the grand harp against her shoulder. She too joined in tuning, plucking out a major C scale. Once finished with a quick check, she leaned back turning to Jethro. "Did I receive an invitation?"

"Of course you did." Jethro dug into his pocket once more and pulled out another envelope. He handed it out to her.

She took the envelope and laid down on the table next to her, mentally reminding herself not to forget it there. Really all she wanted was to make a dash for the nearest letter opener and tear the bloody thing open but she also wanted for Elissa's lesson to go smoothly. So she settled for plucking out a random melody on the harp before her.

Elissa listened to the melody Temperance played, admiring the beauty of it. That was one thing Elissa absolutely loved about her: She could put beauty into something random.

Jethro listened for a while before walking to the bookshelf in the corner. "Hmmm..." He thought aloud, "What shall you play today?" As he skimmed the composers, one of them caught his eye. "Ahh.. I think you'll enjoy this one." He said as he pulled it off the shelf.

Elissa looked up, her fingers still finding the correct strings. "Ah" she said, noting the composer he had selected. Today was going to be a work day, she thought, as she imagined the complicate finger and bow positioning usually called for by the composer's score. She switched to another song, this one by the composer Jethro had selected. "Guess the composer" she teased Elissa.

Elissa listened to the song, knowing that she heard it before. "Alessandro Rolla?" She guessed tentatively. Jethro smiled at Elissa's guess. "No, but very close." He gave Elissa the music. "Paganini." Elissa read off of the music. "Niccolò Paganini." "It's understandable why you guessed Rolla, Paganini used the same style as his teacher." Jethro sat down next to Elissa and began flipping through the pieces. "This is a collection of his 24 Caprices for Solo Violin. You are going to learning the 13th."

Temperance stood up from her harp, knowing Paganini didn't exactly work with harps. Instead she moved over to the piano next to the window, after picking up one of the booklets Jethro had brought from the shelf. Although she didn't love the piano as she did the harp, she was well acquainted with the instrument. Opening up to number 13, she quickly sight read the first couple of bars, her fingers moving over the keyboard without pressing down any key.

When Elissa saw the piece she was to play, her look turned sour. It was full of runs that would take her a lot of time to play it correctly in the right tempo. Jethro saw the look on Elissa's face when she first saw the piece and had to suppress a chuckle. "I am only going to assign you the first part for next time. It is the easiest part of the song, and this way you will also learn the end at the same time." Jethro said as Elissa looked the song over a couple of times.

The runs kept tripping up Temperance's fingers as she attempted to sight read her way through the music. She always liked to practice with Elissa in case Elissa wanted to practice outside of her lessons. Taking a deep breath, Temperance tried again.

Jethro leaned back a little. "Sight read the beginning and we'll see how you do." Jethro was about to relax and listen when he remembered something. "Wait-" He said as he reached over to the metronome on the table. He set it to the appropriate tempo. Elissa took a deep breath and closed her eyes, focusing on the ticks of the tempo. Then she looked a Temperance and started the piece.
