Ah, the Cleric Quintet. I just finished it a few weeks ago.
If I need to find one word to describe the series it is this: PureEpicAwesomness
I swear it's only one word!
Ahem...anyways. Yeah, it was a really good series. Cadderly got a lot of really amazing character development, and he is a parallel of Drizzt in many ways. It was written very well, and there were some really nicely choreographed fights- as we've come to expect from R.A.Salvatore.
I highly recommend it.[/ranting ]

Just gotta Say Cadderly is one of my favorite Salvatore Chars. The Quintet is great stuff.
Just a tip. The first book was a bit slow. At least in my opinion. He's just some kid with a messed up yoyo and a crossbow. Its still a decent book of course but compared to what I was used to, it just wasn't as exciting. But don't let it deter you! Everything beyond that is made of pure win.

i was amused by cadderly's magic-based flashlight. and that ram headed walking stick was just too useful

Everything beyond that is made of pure win. Minandreas is right. The first book was a little slow, but its a QUINTET so it does get better by the second book. It's quirky, but it's refreshing since it doesn't involve Drizzt in the series. I like reading the Quintet because it tells you about Cadderly before you met him and about the Spirit Soaring.

The Cleric Quintet is perfect to read if you want to learn more about Cadderly, Danica, Ivan, and Pickel. Because of this series, Cadderly is one of my favorite characters.

Two questions, 1.) how mature is it? 2.) when should I read it in relation to LoD?

@ Yucale:
1. It's not ridiculously inappropriate. If you read the first three books in the LoD series and there was no problems then this should be fine. I remember that there was an attempt at seduction somewhere in the Quintet...but its not bad. You seem to be pretty mature for a middle schooler...you can handle it.
2. You can read it anytime, it gives you background on a character that is introduced to the Drizzt series. Cadderly appears in Servant of the Shard (Sellsword series) and another book that I can't remember. Ivan and Pikel also show up... in Passage to Dawn i think..... but if not then its some book close to that in the series...
