Arevala's Personality and Background

Name: Arevala Baudansson
Gender: Female
Age: Late 30s
Affiliation: Church
Social Class: Upper Middle

Background as sniped from Sephadi's journal, to be extended:
Lazy, languid heat settled over the rich golden fields and farmland the day the woman came down from the high passes. She wore a rough bulky woolen cloak and the hood was pulled up to hide her face. She would speak her business to no one, and it appeared that she travelled alone. What woman would do this, none knew, but she seemed to have weathered the dangerous roads and come through wilderness unharmed.

She went straight to the compounds held by the Temple Knights and sought audience with the preceptor there. What transpired in that conversation, none knew, save that on that very evening, an avarian woman became an honoured guest. Perhaps an amnesty had been asked for, perhaps even a protection, such that only the Church could give. However it may be, Arevala quickly settled in, to become not only guest, but a skilled healer and one who knew her herbs well.

Arevala was a beautiful woman, of exquisitely perfect features and almost impossible grace. Life had been breathed into frosted ice, the fine chiseled crystal of her profile so fragile it scarcely seemed human flesh. Of coolly elegant presence and stately bearing, with pale morning sunlight in her hair, she drew the eyes of many, and yet her personality was such that she warmed to few. Yet in the matter of months, it became evident that she was with child. And that child, she bore upon a blustery Winter's night, and the whispers were many: who was the father, and why was Arevala here?

She would speak to no one of this, and the girl-child she bore, she named, Sephadi. The child was clearly full avarian, like her mother, but few could determine what cause had brought them both here. There were many who speculated, but a firm stop was put to all the whispers when on a brisk Spring morning, the Temple Knight preceptor who had first given Arevala sanctuary, Sir Damiton Baudansson, took Arevala to wife. There were many who were convinced the avarian woman had bespelled the preceptor, but there was no proof, and the whispers eventually subsided.

Arevala's Familiy

Damiton - To say Arevala's marriage to Damiton was one of convience and sesessity, would be quite correct. He took her in and granted the protection that was need, and even then she knew he was in awe of her for his offer of a more confirmed protection thru marriage. An awe that did grow to fondess in the days that followed in what would be a marriage, but a thing she has never been able to give in return. It is not that feelings have never grown for him, only that she has never been able to trust herself to act upon them, not after what came to pass with Sephadi's true father. Even of that, Arevala has never spoken to Damiton about. He knows that Sephadi is not his, that was never a question, but the full truth of it and of her past, he does not know. And she has always been greatful that he accepted this and never pressed further for more details beyond the simple tale she offered in the beginng. And she has been greatful the he has treated Sephadi as his own. But the marriage has been a strained one, growing ever more so as Sephadi grows and he spoils their ever more, with Areval being distant and never allowing him to close nor to express his affections as he would wish, she has forever held him at bay. It is a situation which pains Arevala, not that any would ever guess for the cool and icy way she acts and for how often Damiton is found resigned to sleeping on the couch. Things continue within a passive-agressive cycle between them, both always seeming to act as nothing wrong ever occurs between them...for now. For should the day ever come when Damiton truly gives into all of Sephadi's wishes the cycle just may be shattered.

Sephadi - Arevala's feelings for her daughter are chaotic at best, for Sephadi is a constant reminder of what once was and the disastrious end that brought her to her current position. And at the same time, Arevala has so desperately wanted to show her daughter the love she deserves. A thing that was easier when the girl was younger, for Arevala did show affection to the girl. A small gift now and again, the gently lullabies to send her to sleep. Even if she was also trying to instill properness and manners into her. But as the years have passed, it has become harder and Arevala grows ever distant from her daughter, especially as she presses for answers about her mother's past and information about her true father. It does not help Arevala any that Damiton spoils the girl endlessly and enforces nothing. As she grows and acts all the more the ungreatful and spoiled brat that Damiton allows, more and more it becomes that Sephadi only serves as a reminder of a painful past that Arevala would rather forget and it those feelings that drive many of her actions towards the child in turn. To that exctent, more often than not, Arevala simply addresses Sephadi as 'Child' in these days.

A place for.....what else I figure out is needed as I get a handle upon this all!

~runs around as she pieces it all together~

There was no hesitation to follow thru with the threat she had made once she had awoke, sending for the trunks as her breakfast was taken. Only a piece of toast, no butter, and some tea, a touch of cream to it. It had been little surprise to her really, to discover that Damiton had seen the child whisked off and busy for the day. Though it had stung at some level the lack of care he had put into seeing to her own safety, not that any would ever know. But it only served as a reminder that helped to solidfy and harden her resolve to follow through with the threat....She and the Child would travel back to her homeland, the far of lands the Avarian race called home.

In truth, it was more of a test for Damiton than anything. It truly had little to do with the child, though Arevala could not help but wonder the good it would do to the girl. It would certainly be an eye opener, if they lived. She would be barely a child in the eyes of the others, let alone the adult she seemed to think she was becoming. It would be interesting though to see how Damiton would react and respond to the motions. Arevala knew she could easily hook the child's interest, there were always rounds of questions and inquiries about Arevala's past, the side of the family and the father the girl knew nothing of. The hunger was there, she mearly had to bait it. But Damiton, would it truly prove his inability to say no to the child, prove his cowardice and frailty...Or would he finally rise up and prove he did have love for the child, and she not just a token showing and outlet for emotion. And tell her no, in order to save the life he knew would be lost to him if he allowed her to go with Arevala. For Arevala had little doubt he would not mind to be rid of his wife, and knowing that such a trip would assure such.

It was a dangereous game to be sure, but it was one she was more than willing to play. After all, she was tired of this life. Even if it would not be long before she had outlived the Church Knight, but then what? There was truly little here for her and the child was soon to be faced with the true reality of their long lives and differences from these people. For all he spoiled the child, he did her more harm than good, he would barely be there for a fraction of her life to protect her and shield her as he did...Then the cold reality of life would be upon her. But...just perhaps..if she witnessed just a flicker of truth and saw another world, the world to which they truly belonged...just maybe she would have a chance. For all Arevala was viewed to hate upon and torture the child in the current years, by the eyes and minds of others, she did care for the girl and did not wish to see her to continue down the ill fated path she was set upon.

It had been some what surprising how easily he had given into the child, barely an attempt to disswade her from teh course. She had expected it, yet it had still surprised her to some degree on his inablity to tell the child no, even when her very life depended on him doing so. It was sad truly, and no wonder to her that he was no where to be found now, to face what he had allowed. It was up to her yet to try and teach the child some manner of lessons, manners, humility. She was truly never going to learn or comprehend such simple things with his weakness for her.

The spoiled child was already throwing tantrums about not being able to take anything but the barest of things. Everything else would have been lost otherwise once they had reached the boundries, the child wouldn't be able to carry it all. Then she doubted the child would be able to hadle carrying what little had been packed, it was yet far to much in truth. Arevela was certain the trip would be a shock to the child's system, Sephadi had really never been far away from home at all, let alone a journey this far. And there was much more than that which would have to be faced upon this trip. One way or another the girl was going to learn a thing or two, if it was the last thing she did for her.

There had been enough time for what extra the child might have attempted to stuff into her bags, though Arevala. Grabbing up her cloak, she made her way to the girl's room and rapped on the door,"It is time."

Eyes looked past the child to the cluster of things that had been clustered about with the intentions to be packed and brought as well. Arevala was not surprised by the sight of so much in fact she had figured there would be more amongst the items gathered. Ah...there had been, noting various tiems that were not within their proper place, having once been among the cluster and no longer amongst that which remained, tossed aside for the moment. The child clung to much and put far to much stock into these material things, she had far to much to learn.

"You were finished before you began, I told you our things were already packed and ready. " Thin fingers gave a vague wave towards the cluster of things,"There is not room for all of that, it shall all be left. It is past time to depart, we have already lost time because of this. " Perhaps to much, things were happening in the city. She did not know what, but she had not liked at all what she had glimpsed from her window...Tops of buildings had simply vanished from sight in the districts near and far within the view, the glass of her window itself had given to change with water condensing suddenly upon the one side. She had little doubt the child was clueless to what was transpiring, to self absorbed in her possessions.

Already turning down the hall to make for the stairs,"If you must, grab one thing but know it will set within your lap the entire ride. " Adding after a step or two, as if to cut off the protests that were likely to come,"The rest can be set along later, but hurry or you shall be left with it." Her traveling cloak trailing out behind as she glided down the stairs, her choices that day made for more for function and ease rather than to appease the fashion expectations of those of her husband's family nor the shallow asperations her daughter held.

She did not give pause to see if Sephadi actually did as she was told, it would almost be a first if she had, but continued straight out the door. Everything she had arranged for was already aboard the awaiting carriage, the only delay was the child. Arevala gave pause once outside, shifting her cloak...the air was warm....unlike the cooler climate that was usually offered up... She might have even taken time to enjoy the change, had it not been so uncharacteristic of this place. Keeping down the urge that rose to spread her wings and depart in that moment, she called over her shoulder,"The carriage leaves in two minutes, with or without you."

[.just outside city.]
[.Arevala.]

It was felt more than heard, the increased rumbling that soon struck the home and district that was departed. Arevala's gaze turned, catching sight of building vanishing again...but from about the home that had...was...hers. No doubt damage occuring to it, if not more. So much to be lost, perhaps it was good that the child was so intrenched on behaving and sitting still to miss it, she would likely have been stuck upon having left so much behind to be lost. Though....Arevala frowned...how was it that all was so lost upon the child. Perhaps her work was more than she knew, perhaps the child was gone further than she had thought. A shift of her hand absently addressed a wrinkle in her traveling cape as it lay across her lap, it was only just begun hope must yet remain. Though....there was much going on that was not expected. A glance given back again to the whispers where buildings once were on the vanishing horizon. Fleeting thoughts did drift to the man whom she called husband, to wonder what was becoming of him within that which was striking the city.

But the thoughts were pushed aside when the child broke her silence to speak. Taking the moment to shift as she looked to Sephadi, her wings shifting just slightly to give a mild strech and set. They were not meant to ride about in boxes, but it would not last for to long.

"How long will what take? The trip in total? Or our travel this day? To reach the cabin before we strike for the pass?" Such trivial specifics tossed out without pause,"You must be more specific in your question. The trip in all will take months, just to arrive, if you do not struggle to much along the path across. Though is several weeks time before we will even think to reach a point to consider the crossing. " Though her mind could not help put turn back to the little that was witnessed back in the city, something important was coming to pass, she remained alert to the sensations that pulled upon the fringes of her being.
