Heh, I was on my high school's water polo and swim teams when I was in high school. Compared to actual clubs that are not associated with any particular school but just associated with the city, high school teams in general sucked (this is Canada).

But anyways, my high school's swim team wasn't bad compared to the rest of the high school swim teams in my city. Since my high school had a ratio of 7 girls per guy, the male representation in swimming was very low from our school. Our female teams always won the city champs for the four years that I was there (junior and senior teams).

As for water polo, my sister was the only actual water polo player we had on our team. There were a couple of us competitive swimmers on it too, but the rest of the team were all noobs. Despite that, we did ok (considering the composition of our team was quite similar to everyone else's in the city). I think the highest we ever ranked was 3rd, though I might be stretching that. In my last year we didn't make the play-offs.

It was fun though. But anyways, in Canada, if you want to see decent water sports, you'd be best to look at the clubs in the cities. High school water sports are almost non-existent, and where they do exist, they are not very serious (my high school's swim team trained twice a week, for an hour long each time. Most people could barely do the strokes let alone flipturn. But I taught a lot of them how to flipturn by the championship meet).
