Well, Many of my ship designs have guns hidden under hull plating that come out when needed. Imagine in your head what this looks like in real life.. the things are like porcupines! becoming all bristly only when threatened XD
Especially something like the Mars, where they would be spaced only far enough away to not interfere with one another, because there's so many on such a small ship.

I think puffer fish is more like it. I picture the guns as popping up still under the plating, so the ship seemingly puffs out a little when they activate 3nodding

hah. yeah. Either way, it would be somewhat humorous to see a mars go from standby to combat ready mode suddenly XD
