I've often wondered why Aerith is scared of the sky in Crisis Core. It didn't make any sense and I thought it was something random Tetsuya just threw in there for fun. But, I did some thinking, and I made a connection.
I thought about Jenova and how she came to the Planet known by the Ancients as "The Calamity From The Sky". And I believe, since Aerith is connected to the Planet, that it sends some kind of emotional energy towards her that channels that fear of Jenova through Aerith. She doesn't know what's the cause, but she feels herself afraid of the sky.
Your thoughts?

Hmmm good thought. I guess I've never really thought about it, I just assumed she was afraid of it because it was so big.

Your logic is very interesting and I like that concept. It was unusual that she randomly was afraid of the sky. In the end, I think it was more of a random romantic Zeris moment to show that he helped her get over her fears, like a couple working through a problem to fix it. I do really really like your interpretation though. XD

Thanks. n.n Though, I think Zack eventually helped her get over that fear, allowing her to accept it and maybe even love it. I mean, she said his eyes were pretty, and next thing you know she's making Cloud promise her to take her for a ride in the airship.

Yes, that's what I meant too. XD That she seems to get over it when she looks into his eyes and says it's not scary. Never thought of the airship thing either. Maybe that's another connection to the original game. That she used to have a fear of the sky but she overcomes it and wants to fly into it. XD

Such a big change, if you ask me. I mean, it was almost immediate. Normally when people are scared of something it takes them awhile. But it just took her a glance at his eyes. o.O Strange girl.

Hehe, guess that's what love does to you. I hear stories about people getting over other fears because their significant other supported them. You know, fears of heights, ect.

Or it's just Aeris. xd Aeris is the strangest girl ever....I wouldn't be surprised if she woke up one day and said "I'm not afraid of the sky anymore." xd
I found her not liking the sky very odd too. It connects to her desire to ride the airship, but it seemed very.....uncharacteristic?

You'd think so. xD But when I first heard that she was afraid of the sky I was like, "WTF?" 'Cause she loves the sky in FFVII, so... I guess the sky thing is just another connection from Crisis Core to FFVII for Zerith. I guess I just found another proof thingy. n.n; Which was what I was avoiding.
Ah, well, can't help it, I guess.

Though it connects.....her not liking the sky in CC is just.......weird......not like it was weird itself but it made me think "what the heck did the creators do?!" It was kind of awkward hearing Aeris say that she hated the sky.
