It is getting to be that time of the year again. When Serenity once more graces the screens of local theatres in an attempt to raise money for Equality Now. It is a noble cause that Firefly fans everywhere can be honored that they are a part of it.

So are you going? Did you even know it was happening? What? You didn't? What is wrong with you?!?! And you call yourself a browncoat... Anyway the homepage should be able to tell you all that you need to know about it. Show listings, ticket prices, and all that good stuff.

I am going once again with my sister, and this year seeing as Doni is gone and probably won't be able to drive up for it, I am going with my friend Heather. Last year only my sister and I cross dressed, but this year the whole lot of us are going as characters of the male gender. Abby and I will be going as the same two people as last year (she shall be Wash, I shall be Jayne...duh...), and Heather shall join us as Mal. I am very excited!

Anyway, anyone else going (I know the answer is probably no, but I am still curious)? and if you can't go do you wish you could?

crying crying crying I can't! I'm soooo pissed! The nearest one is LA, and gas is too expensive to drive all the way down there!

I will say this. If I could go, I'd be my person from a Firefly fanfic cosplay thingy that I did with my friends... She's who I based Camille off of... My name was Adeline, or Eda for short... Hmmm... Must. Find. PICTURE!

Super sweetness. The one I go to is kind of far from myself as well, like three hours, but because there are a couple of us going it will be a bit less expensive seeing as we all will chip in for gas. I love going as Jayne though, he is my favorite.

Yeah, our cruddy movie theater didn't do it. And I even told 'em about it and that there was money involved. stare They wanna charge $3 for a small popcorn, that's their deal...

It's kind of complicated to do, and you have to go though all of the right channels with the higher ups. It isn't the movie theatre that does it either. Someone else (the host) contacts different movie theatres and finds one that is willing to rent out a screen for them (most liking for free or for a discounted fee seeing as it is for charity), and then the host does all the rest (like getting donations, people to see it, and then of course hosting the event and making is super shiny).

Also, movie theatres don't get any of the ticket money. All that goes back to the distributer and the production company. They are only making money off of what they sell in concessions. Chucka worked in a movie theatre and I'm a film major so we know the sad truth. Of course in my mind if they wanted to make more money they would make things cheaper so more people would buy them, and not the other way around... some people fail at thinking things all the way out.
