It was barely mid-afternoon and already the deep forest was beginning to darken like dusk. Though the trees were thick, the darkness was unusual. Lela guessed by the light and the increased humidity in the air that a storm was likely rolling in from the ocean. She crept carefully through the tangles of branches, her tail brushing lightly on the foliage as she went.
"What do you think of the weather, Neo?" She asked quietly. Hardly visible in the shadows and deep greens, another was trailing her. He was completely silent, making Lela's careful traveling sound loud and careless. Of course, Lela didn't expect an answer from him. Ever since they were cubs it was the same thing everyday; Neo would follow her, unspeaking, wherever she went. And she would tolerate his presence, though she had no idea why he was there, day after day. Lela could count on one paw how many times she had heard his voice. She turned her attention back on the trail. She could smell salt; the ocean wasn't far.

Fairyn picked a plump blueberry from a bush that was covered in them and chewed it slowly, loving the taste. The air that wafted around her smelled of the berries, and it smelled so good! The wind had picked up, but the lightly colored sibael didn't realy care. The air was cool and felt nice when it ruffled through her green fur. She licked her lips before going after another blueberry.
Fairyn felt water splash onto her nose right when she was getting her self another blueberry. She really like them. Crossing her black eyes, she looked at the spot the water landed, but as she did so two new scents met her nose and she directed her head that way. What was this? Who was it? Were they going to chase her away from the blue berries? Was this there spot....? She was getting paranoid. Maybe she should go, before they can chase her off....

The barely audible growl that escaped Neo's throat put Lela instantly on guard. The sound was so alien that her fur stood on end and with a nervous swallow, she slowed down her pace. Now the scent of the ocean mingled with a softer, sweeter scent and another she couldn't identify.
Then she spotted a soft shade of green amongst the leaf and berries. The stranger must've been picking the fruit and Lela stopped to take a breath. What a wonderful smell. Lela wondered a moment if they belonged to her, and if she would mind if they shared. But Lela was wary of other Sibael and she preferred to be alone (though Neo was her companion, most of the time it was like he wasn't even there). She would have to work up the courage to speak up.
"E-excuse me? S-sorry for bothering you," she started, poking her deep brown muzzle through the brush. "A-are these bushes yours? I would really like to try a berry..." Neo, meanwhile, crept around them, settling in the shadows right by Fairyn.

Fairyn gave a small yelp of surprise when a nose was poked through the bushes. "N-no. I don't-t mind." She backed up from the bushes only to realize there was another sibael right by her. Blinking her eyes she backed up from the other aswell. Though she couldn't see him it was evident he was there.
Fairyn looked back to were the nose and now seemed to be face, was poking from the bushes. "You can h-have as many as you want-t." She attempted a small shy smile at the sibael. "They arent any ones."

Lela was reassured when she realized that the stranger was as nervous as her. She stepped out of the bushes carefully, her tan, black, and white pelt standing out from the greens. Her golden eyes were soft and kind towards Fairyn. She knew how it felt to be shy. "Okay, thank you," Lela said with a nod. "You're welcome to stay. Don't leave just because of us." She smiled, and then she turned to the bushes. Carefully she plucked one and chewed, savouring the juice.
"Mmm, good..." she muttered, and her eyes flicked over to Neo. "Want to try some?" Of course, she got no answer, and Neo didn't move. With a shrug she picked a second berry.

The light green and pink sibael was still tense, ready to run if she had to. Fairyn's tail swayed as her ees flicked to the two sibael. "I'm, um, glad that you like them."

Neo moved swiftly and silently behind the two females. He looked at Fairyn with a blank expression, revealing nothing. "Don't be afraid," he said quietly, his voice as monotone and unrevealing as his face. Then he sat down and studied her, curling his tail around his paws.
Talkative today, Lela thought to herself. Aloud she said, "I'm Lela, by the way." She gave a little nod, and motioned with her muzzle towards Neo. "That's Neo."
