Event #10b - Female Wildtype

User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show. Please type up the best response you can to one of the following prompts. Post it here (we will not tolerate copying or idea stealing). You may respond to both prompt options if you wish, but if you are going to make us read more then it had best be worth reading.

Terms of the Prompted Flatsale:
- if there are no suitable entries within the time-limit, the Sentinel may not be awarded to any of the entrants
- base price for the Sentinel is 5K
- further customization will be available at flatsale pricing
- you can not change the base colour, genetic markings, or sex
- the winner will be announced after the entries have been judged
- we may offer runner-up prizes, so don't let a really good entry stop you from trying
- a particularly good RP response may qualify the winner for a position in one of the specialist or restricted tasks, at our discretion
- Enter for as many as you'd like, but you can only win one of these pretty Sentinels - keep that in mind when you are writing your entry
- although this is not an RP required shop, we ask that you not enter the contest if you don't intend to RP. It's just cruel to send in a fancy character form or RP prompt and then never play said character

Option #2 - The Graduation Prompt
Write up this Sentinel's reaction to the situation outlined below. Please write your entry in the style that you would normally RP in!

RP Prompt
The transition from fledgling to adult isn't nearly as clear-cut as it would appear to the casual observer. Most fledglings are lucky enough to be born at the same time of year as everyone else - so they graduate with everyone else, and become a part of the clan during a large and official ceremoney. Many fledglings, however, are unfortunate enough to spend an entire season at an awkward age - too young to become 'proper' members of the clan, but too old to be underfoot amongst the Minders and Teachers.

This particular young adult is one of those unlucky few. After spending the better part of the last moon flitting from one Teacher to the next, it is finally time to graduate. The ceremony is small, nobody but her closest friends and family are there to witness the event, and there are but three others graduating with her.

While she waits for the opportunity to step forward and choose her task, she cannot help but remember her time as a not-quite-fledgling, and the events that transpired during those nights. One event in particular stands out, and in fact that event is why she's going to take on the task she has chosen to perform for the clan...
((Describe the event, and how it influenced her decision to take on the task you have chosen for this Sentinel.))

Good luck!
Note: Do you want to enter, but you're finding it difficult to do so because you're not a member of the Guild and therefore can't post here? Well, then apply to join the Guild! You don't have to own a Sentinel to be here - heck, you don't even have to own a Sentinel to RP a Sentinel character!

Part I – The Sentinel

Player: SiyannaTwilight
Name: Firegold
Nicknames: Goldy
Species: Sentinel of Noctua
Age: Adult
Hatch Date: 8/26
Type: Wildtype
Task: Crafter
Personality: Firegold is somewhat scatterbrained and indecisive. She's the kind of gal that wants greatly to impress, but sometimes finds herself "tripping over herself." While she is somewhat "blond," she is great at what she does. Inflating her ego is easy with the right compliments. She grew up in a Minder's care, so she quite favors crowds and gatherings, feeling somewhat uncomfortable alone for too long a time. Sometimes she may seem naive, but she has had plenty of random experience from jobs she never kept. Some say she could have been a good Minder, but she never found it suitable. If that were to be a retiring job from crafting perhaps she would.
History: Firegold was one of those fledglings who couldn't decide what she wanted to do. Quite the dabbler you could say. She decided Watcher upon graduation, and did that for a good two months before she decided that being a Keeper looked fun! She tried her hand at raising Mus...to no avail, as you could guess, and ate them out of spite. No, she was no good as a Keeper. What of Medic? The sight of Sentinel blood made her woozy. Bard? Her singing sounded of a choking parus! Other Sentinels were getting fed up at her bouncing around like this, and some didn't want to bother training her, knowing she would probably skip out soon along the way. Constantly she was told to settle down and choose. Only her past minders were rather patient with her, and if it weren't for them she'd probably lose hope of being anything but a Watcher.
Aggravated, she went back to Watching for the better part of year, needing some time to digest the Minder's consoling and to search her soul. While Goldy Watched just fine, she wanted more. She began to take stock of her skills. Her Will use was pretty good, and she loved watching bards with their decorations and adornments... Perhaps something practical than mere decoration however. Something that could be greatly useful for most of the population... That's it! She could become a Crafter! Now why didn't she think of this before?!
Soon (to the relief of many) she learned to use these skills to advantage, specializing in hide pouches (She DID learn something from trying out professional hunting!) and small bags, usually adorned with one of her own moulted feathers for a "signature." She finally felt that she was worth more to society.
Territory: An oak tree that is a bit on the small side, but has enough room for her inside and out to work on her crafting.
Mate: None
Companions: No

Part I – The Sentinel

Player: giftwrapped
Name: Meadowsweet
Nicknames: Meadow to her friends, Sweet to her flavor-of-the-week, and all sorts of more unsavory things to other females
Species: Sentinel of Noctua
Age: Young adult
Hatch Date: 4 June
Type: Wildtype
Task: Artisan
Personality:
Meadowsweet...wants to have fun. She does what feels good because it feels good and can’t be persuaded to do otherwise. In fact, she does some of the things she does just because she knows others disapprove of them. This contrariness, of course, doesn’t extend to her ingrained Sentinels’ good sense, but she will go to lengths to “show those old fogies”.

She is charming and manipulative and equal-opportunity with Sentinels of both genders, always being just sweet enough and just loose enough to catch and keep their interest, just elusive enough to keep them waiting and wanting more. She loves toying with affections and the thrill of leading others on, and she absolutely adores being able to discard one lad or lady and select another when she feels like it. On the flip side, when she ends up with a Sentinel she actually likes, she gets clingy, possessive, and jealous.

If one can hold firm under her initial flirtation and push to enter into something at a much faster pace than should be comfortable, Meadow will generally go to the effort to befriend that Sentinel purely out of bewildered curiosity. If she’s still resisted, Meadow generally goes off to sulk.

She’s not used to romanticism, so an easy way to win her heart involves nothing more than true courtship and sweetness.

As a friend, she is a bit flighty and frivolous, never really focusing on anything other than her latest flame. She is not a fighter and prefers to charm her way out of situations like that, and...she’s been pretty good at it so far. As an enemy, for many other Sentinels dislike her and disapprove of her, she is generally catty and malicious, but she is more the type to spread rumours than to actually do anything.

There have been...incidents with feather dye and her patrons before, though, so you never can tell with Meadow. It'd probably be a reasonably good idea to keep away from her brush if you've been gossiping about her, though.

Her lack of parents has never concerned her, and she was taught well. Perhaps someday in the future she'll want to really settle down, have an egg, move forward with her life and a mate who loves her. For now, nope. She's quite happy to be herself, even if herself makes her a lot of enemies.

History:
Meadowsweet was born and raised normally enough: given to Minders by parents she was never told of. Whether that was because of the conditions of her birth or because of something else, well...that isn’t important, and she doesn’t know. The point is, she was minder-raised, brought up well.

She never wanted for attention, and she was a relatively bright young female, picking things up quickly, learning to fly on schedule, and though she spent extra time before her Graduation because of the unusual month of her birth, she spent it in a semi-apprenticeship. That extra time gave her the opportunity to really understand her chosen field, and that last little push in the right direction gave her an edge when she finally graduated.

She started toying with affections out of sheer boredom one day. Not long after that, she had her first serious fling. She already knew how much fun flirting could be, and taking that next step forward didn’t require any drastic change of mental gear. So she had the fling, (luckily) produced no eggs, and she and her gentleman friend parted ways.

And she’s been doing that same thing (more or less) ever since.

Territory: A nice little patch of trees on the edge of a birch grove just outside the southwest edge of the Deep Woods, with plenty of places for customers to perch while waiting for the frivolous little perfectionist to get on with her job.
NOTE: She likes birches. A lot.
Mate: None
Companions: N/A

Part II – Companions

Name: Raspberry
Species: Mus
Age: Young Adult
Speech Ability: 2
Intelligence: 4
Skill: Mostly, Raspberry is just a little friend for Meadowsweet. But she is a handy little pair of claws if Meadow needs them. Oh, and she tends to listen in on conversations and report snippets of them back to her mistress. Watch your mouth around this little one.

Part I – The Sentinel

Player: StrawberriLori
Name: Lantana
Nicknames: Lana, Tana
Species: Sentinel of Noctua
Age: Adult
Hatch Date: July 21
Type: Wildtype
Task: Watcher
Personality: Lantana is generally a calm, peaceful Sentinel who would rather converse with and visit other Sentinel than be off by herself. She is almost always around and hardly ever in her own territory for this reason. She finds the crafters to be a bit of a silly bunch, and the rangers, scouts, and hunters to be a little too aggressive for her liking, but she gets along with just about anyone. While she is very talkative, she is good at keeping an eye on the area at the same time, which is what led her to be a Watcher. She wanted the social aspect of being around other Sentinel, but still wanted a task where she could use her quick eye and ability to put all the stories together and figure out what is closest to the truth.
History: Lantana was raised by the Minders as a whole, and has never really paid attention to the fact she doesn’t know who her birth parents are. As a fledgling, she idolized the Minders who took care of her and thought for sure they must have the most important task of all Sentinel kind. As she grew she realized there were other important tasks that need to be filled, but she still holds the Minders as a whole in high regard. She respects the Minders for what they do, and is quick to defend them and their task, because they made Lana who she is. This Wildtype Sentinel doesn’t mind entertaining a few fledglings if a Minder needs a little time off, but she is always sure to keep in mind her own task. She probably would have become a Minder herself, had she not thought that the territories needed another good pair of eyes.
Territory: She sometimes sleeps in a poplar tree in the mid-range between the center of the deep woods and forest, but often she’ll just doze off in a safe place around other Sentinel.
Mate: None
Companions: Yes

Part II – Companions

Name: Lyre
Species: Parus
Age: Young
Speech Ability: 2
Intelligence: 4
Skill: Since Lantana probably couldn’t take a companion who talks as much as she does, Lyre is quite content to sing her little heart out most of the time and leave the talking to Lana. While Lyre doesn’t speak well, if at all, she sometimes acts things out that she has seen that she thinks Lana should know. While some of these charades end up as false scares, Lantana would rather have a scare now and then rather than not notice something.
