My flute is a really nice step up, which is what you're looking for. It's a capital edition Jupiter and it's sooooooooo nice. It's an inline G, it's got a B foot, straight head joint, gold mouth piece, gold cork cap thing, and there is little designs around evey key and the cork cap thing! It's soooo cool! I love it.

DONT GET INLINE G! honestly... it really doesnt do anything to your sound and is just a calling for arthritis and carpell tunnel.. like. faster then normal. also. I just got my new professional model flute.. its a murumatsu. and honestly. Im in love with it.. passionate love. its amazing. heres an example of the sound i guess >.<

I just bought a Muramatsu in December, and LOVE it! 3nodding I would absolutely recommend them. They're very helpful and friendly and will help you with an awesome financing agreement. It was all a great experience.

As for In-line versus Offset G, it doesn't matter. Whichever you're used to is perfectly fine.

I've got a Pearl, myself. Nice big sound with a wide variety of colors. Sterling silver body, lip, and riser, B-Foot, in-line G and French model keys. And, by the way, you wont get carpel if your hand position is good.
The Altus is a good one, too.
I'm personally not a fan of Jupiters or the Gemeinhardts--the tones are far too bright for me.
The thing you have to remember, though, is that not every flute will work for you. I had the opportunity to get a Brannen, which is supposed to be one of the best brands out there. I played on it for a bit, and I hated it. The upper range sounded strange and the lower range wasn't all that great either. It wasn't that it was a bad flute, it just didn't agree with me and the way I played.
