Never done it but found a link. I would think you could use the same directions for sculpey or air dry clay...

I tried to do this same thing months ago.
I wanted to make a WORKING replica of the ocarina(s) in Ocarina of Time from the LOZ.

I actually found a guide...but I only have Sculpey and I think that it shrinks somewhat in the oven? I don't know.

But I'm not precise enough to do one. x3

*Pokes* Did I hear mention of ocarina making? P:

I'd like to learn how to make one.. I have a couple ocarina's to look at but... yeaah.

I tried to look at that site but my scan popped up with a trojan. D:

You know that the blow opening is like a flute and at an angle? And below that is another hole? ^^; Just thought I'd mention, because that sounds like why the only sound you get is wind.

We made them in art class, so I know how to make one version...

You need clay, a knife, and a popsicle stick.

Make a bowl shape out of clay. Flatten another piece of clay, put the bowl on top of it, and cut around the rim of the bowl so that you've got a flat piece to cover the open side of the bowl.

Put the popsicle stick an inch or so between the two pieces and pinch them together, so you've got a dome with a stick sticking out the base of it.

Form a tube of clay around the part of the popsicle stick that protrudes. This will be your mouthpiece. Make sure it's attached to the main dome.

Use the knife to cut a small slot in the bottom of the dome, just in front of the mouthpiece. The slot should be rectangular, and the side opposite the mouthpiece should be cut at a 45 degree angle.

Now for the hard part. Slide the popsicle stick out of the mouthpiece, and blow on it. You should get some type of note. If not, you may need to adjust the angle of the slot.

If it plays, you've got working ocarina. To get more notes, you can cut holes in the top of the dome. hope this helps.
