Pt 1 As far as anyone can remember, there have always been two families that kept on arguing. Little do they know of the cause for these fights. Their mission in this world has been similar but oh so different in many ways. The men, usually seven brothers, represent the fearful emotions in this world. This includes emotions such as doubt, fear, hate, selfishness, greed... The ones to represent feelings like trust, hope, love and other positive emotions were women, also seven siblings. Those two families never mixed, it was against their rules. Should they decide to do so, their powers and their task would have been stripped from them. At least that’s what many generations had believed thus far. The mutual mission of the families was to keep the emotional balance in the world. There were times when the emotions the brothers ruled over were at reign, but the positive feelings soon caught up to them and even surpassed them. This constant wave of changes had lasted for centuries… until things started to change. Indeed... “This is a story of changes…” Why am I running again? The enemy is fast, I can barely save my skin from his evil clutches but yet I don’t understand why I keep on running. I jump up these walls without even noticing that I’m able to do so in my dreams. Hide… that’s my main thought when sleeping. He’s here again… RUN! “Wake up sleepyhead and say hello to the morning. Here at the WSUP radio, we hope you have a bright and sunny day.” A girls hand reached for the clock radio, the button uttered a silent ‘click’ as its button was pushed. The girl sat up and soon left her warm nest which was a pile that consisted of a blanket and a pillow. It seemed as if she had not been scared by her dream. “Ah, that’s right, it WAS a dream!” She said to herself and stretched. It was still quite early, about 6 am. She, however, didn’t feel the need to take things slow as she prepared herself breakfast, got dressed and left her apartment to head towards her new school. Because of the recent moving she didn’t have friends to go to school with, so the school road was just a long and cold road to a place she might not feel comfortable in. But she didn’t have time for complaining, she had to make sure she would get to school on time, being late on her first day there would be just horrible. Then she suddenly sensed something weird, stopped and realized that she wasn’t on the way to school anymore. She looked around and saw a red brick wall that stood proudly before her and high wooden fences that were blocking the way out on the other sides. She couldn’t see a way out of this place, it was all a bit unusual, and that scared her a lot. Then it started to get darker and darker by the second, a cold fog started to appear out of nowhere. The state of things didn’t look good, she was very afraid now. It was even worse that she felt like she knew the place. Didn’t it turn out like this in her dreams every night? After a few seconds in this cold and dark place, she fell down on her knees, the wet and muddy ground crawling up her legs. As she noticed that, she tried to stand up, but she was hopelessly stuck. Her body didn’t seem as feather light as it did when she was running away in her sleep. She then took her head in her hands and cried out in fear. “No!… What is happening to me!! I’m not asleep anymore, leave me alone!” She could barely move, but then as she heard a cars signal, she looked around carefully and was stunned when she saw that she was sitting in the centre of a street, holding down the traffic. She quickly stood up, still shivering, and continued to run towards the school. The school wasn’t that far anymore, because she could see more and more students walking along the same path. Good, this felt a lot more safe, she felt that she could manage to hide easier in the crowd of students who all wore the same outfit as she did. After crossing a few more roads she could see the big and pale schoolhouse. Just a few hundred meters before the school building, she stopped, looked at the school and sighed. “Well, this is my new school. A totally new adventure to live through.” She said to herself as to adjust herself for the new surroundings. She walked into the big schoolhouse, looked around shyly and then looked up the classroom where she would be having her first lesson. She entered the classroom and then stood in the back of it. As expected, she wasn’t late, and in the matter of the fact she was the first one to come. She then had nothing to do except waiting for the lesson to begin. She passed the time by observing the birch trees sway in the wind just outside the windows. It was autumn and every plant outside proved the fact. When all of the students had arrived, the teacher, who had arrived some time earlier, walked to the front of the class. “We have a new student from now on.” The teacher said as she pointed at her, the same girl about whom the story is. “Akiie Mikomi, please come here and tell us a bit about yourself.” Akiie nodded and slowly walked to the front of the class. She then turned around to reveal her forest green eyes. She looked around shyly and smiled slightly. ”Hello, I am Akiie Mikomi, I just moved to this town. I’m glad to make your acquaintance. I’m 17 years old and I like discovering new things.” She said while trying to summarize the being that was her. As if there was much to tell anyways. “Ok, thank you Akiie.” The teacher said and then looked at the classroom full of students. “Do you have any questions for our new classmate?” A hand rose from the back of the class. “Yes, what do you want to ask?” the teacher asked. A boy with blonde hair stood up and prepared the question. “Akiie do you have a boyfriend?” he then finally asked. Akiie blushed, and said no. “Thank you for the important question!” The teacher added and gave a glare at the over insolent young man. “Now, Akiie, go and sit down there, there is a free seat for you. Shall we go on with our lesson now?” She said as her calm, rational mood returned. Akiie walked towards the empty seat, still blushing out of embarrassment. Then the teacher took out the English workbook and said, “Now, who has done their homework?” Akiie, of course didn’t know anything about the homework the teacher was talking about. She stared at her table, listening to the teacher for the most of the time she spent in that classroom. When the lesson had ended Akiie picked her things back together and went to the hallway, where she accidentally bumped into a boy. “Uh, sorry, I didn’t see you.” she said. “I get bumped into a lot,” the boy replied while grinning, “What’s your name, I don’t remember to have seen you here before.” “My name is Akiie Mikomi, and I’m new to this school.” Akiie answered with a shy and silent voice as she looked up again. “Just as I thought, ” the boy smiled. ”I knew I hadn’t seen a such beauty here before.” Akiie was surprised of the reaction of the boy she had bumped into. She blinked a few times and then blushed again. Was it really as she was told? Were all boys so straight forward? It wasn’t the first time she had been called pretty or beautiful, but each time it only had brought her trouble. In one form or the other. “What's going on in here?” a girl asked when she leaned herself on the boys shoulders. “Kanki, I thought we were supposed to meet at my class?” “I’m sorry that I held him back.” Akiie said and bowed to show that she was sorry. “He has a girlfriend, thank goodness. An unusual name he has, Kanki… Kanki… it sounds familiar… Oh stop it Akiie, you’re just making it up!” She couldn’t help but to think to herself and blush. “Don’t worry Akiie, Mikana doesn’t mind,” Kanki said and turned to the girl who was still leaning on his shoulder “…do you?” “No, but now we are leaving!” Mikana said strictly. Kanki shouted waved while being dragged away by Mikana. “I guess we’ll meet again.” She thought and blushed a bit again. The next lesson was about to start and Akiie walked to her locker, opened it and for her surprise felt that a cold wind was blowing out of it. She looked deeper inside of it confused, because the locker didn’t seem to have a back wall. This was rather unusual since she was sure there had been one before. Some kind of unfamiliar force pulled her towards the locker and she soon felt as if she had been sucked into it. “Not this again…” Akiie sighed as she noticed that there was no way out of the dark foggy place. It seems as is someone has closed the door behind her. She was lying on the floor now. “Just a dream… IT will go away soon.” She reassured herself and closed her eyes. “Now, I’ll wake up, and I’ll be in the hallway again.” She said to herself and slowly opened her eyes. No change. She stood up carefully as she had accepted the fact that this was for real. Akiie looked around and saw a door on the horizon. She walked towards it, but just as she had touched the doorknob, she heard something. “Excuse me, are you alright?” a girls voice asked. “What is going on in here?” Akiie asked herself and then she felt someone shaking her hand. She looked at the direction where she thought the person would be and suddenly she found herself in front of her locker again. Akiie looked into her locker once again just to see, that it was back to normal now. She then turned towards the girl who had shook her hand. The person was the girl who used the locker right next to hers. She looked worried… ”Are you alright? Should I take you to the nurse?” The girl then asked and closed her locker door. Akiie, still a bit confused about what had just happened, smiled and said, “I’m alright. I think I was daydreaming. It happens quite often.” “What do you see in your dreams?” The girl and asked as she turned towards her once again. “You seemed so distant, as if your soul would have been captured.” She added and soon laughed at her own weird comment. Akiie hesitated to reply, but then she explained silently. “I see a dark place, it feels so strange and cold. And it always feels as if I’m being imprisoned.” She said as she took out her textbooks and stacked them on her other hand. The other girl looked at her locker, even more worried now. “It must be horrible. I cant imagine the fear you feel… I myself get scared by the littlest things.” She said and then shivered slightly because just thinking of the horrible things she had imagined made her tremble of fear. “It’s not that bad. As long as I remind myself that they’re only dreams, they cant hurt me one bit.” Akiie said to break the gloomy atmosphere that had arisen around the two young girls. She even smiled. “Just dreams? Does it really work?” The girl asked as she looked at Akiies’ unusually unfitting smile. It was obvious it wasn’t really that easy for her. She decided to give Akiie a break and forget the topic they had been taking about. “My name is Harika, I know you from the first lesson, I sit in the seat next to yours.” She then said to introduce herself. “Oh, I’m sorry but I didn’t notice you at all in the classroom earlier. My mind was off on it’s weird tracks again.” Akiie apologized while looking at Harika. She had short red hair with black streaks, brown eyes and a warm smile. “I don’t mind. You really looked nervous in there, it’s no wonder you didn’t notice anything around you.” Harika answered and laughed slightly once more. Akiie soon also smiled. There was no sign left of the previously gloomy atmosphere.

Pt2
The two girls soon became inseparable, they sat next to each other in almost every lesson, they ate lunch together and spent their free time in between lessons together also. But they hadn’t told each other much about themselves yet. It was a carefree friendship, no obligation, no restraint. It then seemed as if it was meant to be that Akiie had to tell Harika about her past. The reason was that Harika didn’t look too good on one day.
“Harika, are you feeling alright?” Akiie carefully asked and examined her with fast glimpses. Harikas eyes seemed a bit red and her body seemed to have lost it’s always straight posture.
“It’s nothing,” Harika replied and shortly after that she yawned. “I haven’t had a chance to get a good night sleep lately, that’s all.” She stretched and laid her head down on the desk, her feet and hands loosely sprawled.
“Well, what kept you up then, it’s ok, you can tell me.” Akiie inquired. The pattern was showing up again and that made her worry. Harika giggled silently - she would have giggled out loud but she was too exhausted.
“I had a nightmare and I didn’t dare to fall asleep again. It’s my own fault I’m so sleepy now.” She explained and uttered another yawn. “I’ll be fit as a fiddle and ready to go tomorrow, don’t you worry.” Akiie was almost sure that what she had suspected was coming true. But before she could tell Harika what was going on, she had to make sure she wasn’t overreacting because of a normal nightmare. Days went by and Harika did seem refreshed at first but then she came to school just as tired as the last time she had told Akiie about her nightmare. This was the second time in a two week period.
“If she has a nightmare again within the next two weeks then I was right. I really hope I am wrong with my presumptions.” Akiie thought to herself as she observed Harika as she stretched and yawned. As she had feared, Harika did have an other nightmare during the period Akiie was worried about. There was only one thing left for her to do and that was telling Harika the whole story behind Akiie. A whole month had past since Akiie had transferred to that school, and now Akiie went to talk to Harika once more when she was laying on her desk, exhausted from the lack of sleep.
“Harika, can I talk to you for a little bit?” Akiie asked silently and squatted down next to her. Harika covered her mouth with her hand and yawned.
“Sure, I’m all ears,” she replied and looked at Akiie through her half shut eyes.
“Harika, I want you to come over to my home today after classes.” Akiie said bluntly and without any explanations about why she wanted her to come. Harikas eyes opened to their normal state as she rose her head up from her desk and stared at Akiie.
“Whoa. Where did that idea come from?” Harika said, she was surprised to say the least. Akiie didn’t seem like anyone who would let others into her home that easily. “I mean I would like to…” she soon corrected herself and blushed lightly. She should not be so surprised! They were friends after all. Akiie smiled softly and sat on her chair again. Harika couldn’t help herself, she needed to know what was going on in Akiies mind. Every time she had come to school with little less sleep than she was used to, Akiie always looked so worried that it was a bit weird even for close friends.
“Akiie…” Harika said faintly almost as if she didn’t want Akiie to hear her. But Akiie did hear and soon turned her attention back at Harika.
“Yes, what’s wrong?” She asked and turned around to face her friend.
“No, nothings wrong I just..” Harika shook her head lightly as she spoke. Then she looked down at her hands and added, “I wanted to know why you invited me over today.” Akiies face grew more serious. She knew she would have to explain everything but she had also hoped that she could enjoy the rest of the school day as she was, as she seemed to Harika.
“There is something that I want you to know about me… But I cant bring myself to talk about it in public, so I wanted you to come with me after school.” Akiie explained as simply as she could. Akiie blushed lightly and then made Harika promise that she would not let that ruin their day at school. She wanted everything to stay as it was. Later that day as the lessons were over, the two girls headed towards Akiies apartment.
“We’re almost there.” Akiie said as they got closer to a simple apartment building. Harika looked around. It seemed to be a quite cheap and peaceful neighbourhood. They walked into one of the apartment buildings and climbed up to the third floor, where Akiies apartment was situated.
“The elevator is not in order right now, so I always have to walk up these stairs to get home.” Akiie laughed as she unlocked the door to her apartment. They went in and took off their shoes. Akiie led the way to the living room and asked Harika to sit down while she made some tea.
“When does your mom get back home?” Harika half consciously asked. To her it was normal that everyone lived in an apartment with their parents or a parent. Akiie didn’t even turn around and continued to prepare the drink.
“I live alone.” She answered after she had poured the hot water into the mugs. She held the mugs in one hand, took the sugar bowl into the other and then returned to her guest.
“Alone?” Harika was shocked. “But you’re only 17, how can you manage this all by yourself?” she exclaimed. Akiie sat down next to her and handed Harika a mug.
“I invited you here to explain my situation to you.” Akiie stated and looked at her friend. She was almost sure Harika would avoid her in school after she had told her what was going on with her, but she had to tell her everything she knew. “I don’t have a family that I can remember, my oldest memory dates back to the time before one and a half years. At about that time I woke up in a hospital. My room was empty at first but then a nurse came and checked up on me. As she noticed that I had woken up, she called for the doctor who had been assigned to take care of me. !!! Then a young male doctor came running into my room. The nurse observed silently as he checked my pulse and my eyes.
“You seem to be getting better.” He complimented and smiled. “Do you by a chance remember your name?” he then asked and took my record card from the foot of the bed. I wanted to reply but I still felt a little faint so I replied with a slight shake of my head.
“Doctor, what should we do?” the nurse asked and pulled him towards the door. “We don’t have any info about her family or relatives, there isn’t a missing persons report that would fit her description…” She whispered to the doctor, but I could hear her quite well. The doctor peered at me shortly.
“I cant say for sure what we should do about her quite yet. We should at least wait a while, maybe she’ll remember who she is once the shock’s over.” He then said to convince the nurse of letting me stay for a while longer. “We need to observe her physical condition for a few days anyway. We cant send her off before being certain that she’s ok.” He added as he looked at me again.
“Yes Doctor, you’re right,” the nurse agreed and stepped away from his path. He then turned around and waved at me.
“I’ll see you again later.” He said cheerfully and opened the door. He and the nurse both left my room. I sat up slowly, I was left alone again. Then I first noticed the bandage around my right wrist. I held it up to my face level and inspected it briefly. I turned to the side of the bed to get off. I bent my legs and as I was almost ready to step on the cool floor of the room, the nurse returned. She surprised me and I fell off my bed: my legs were not strong enough to support my body.
“Oh my!” the nurse yelped as she saw me fall behind the bed. She rushed over to me and helped me up again. “You really shouldn’t be out of the bed yet,” she scolded me and made me lie down again.
“What….. happened…” I whispered and looked at the nurse.
“What happened?” the nurse repeated my question, “You fell off your bed.” She then said with a smile.
“No…” I said and shook my head. I held my bandaged wrist up for her to see. “What happened…. to my hand…?” I then asked. The nurse took my hand and then gently unwrapped my hand.
“It was a little burn wound we found after you were brought here. It should be healed up a little bit by now…” she said and continued to do what she was doing until the last piece of the wrapping was off. She released my hand shortly after that to toss away the used bandaging material. “Here, let me have a look at it.” She then said and I reached my hand to her again. She had barely taken a short glimpse at the said wound when she suddenly said, “ I’m sorry, I … I have to call the doc back.” With that said she fled out of my room once again just to return with the nice male doctor. He immediately came to my right side and took a look at my wrist.
“Well… I guess we know her name now then,” he mused wit ha smile on his face. Finally, some information to add to the medical info card. I was a bit confused because I hadn’t looked at my wrist yet but I soon fixed the problem.
“A-k-i-i-e” I spelled out of the fading burn mark. The burn mark looked like a trace of a bracelet. One with the name of the owner engraved into it.
“Isn’t it great that we now know your name, Akiie?“ the nurse asked as she turned towards me.
“Um… yes,” I replied and nodded. This was the first thing that I found out about myself.” She was then interrupted by Harika.
“You lost your memory? But why didn’t you tell me?!” She inquired and took Akiies hands into hers. Akiie gave Harika a little smile.
“I didn’t want it to haunt me anymore. I’ve begun a new life.” Akiie explained. Harika didn’t let her hand go she just looked down.
“I think I understand.” She said and then looked back up at Akiie. “Sorry, I cut you off, please, tell me more.”

Pt 3 Akiie returned to telling her story.
“The doctor took my info card and turned to leave again.
”I’ll take these papers to the secretary, We’ll put the right name there.” He said and was off in a moment. The nurse pulled a chair closer to my bed and sat down.
“If you don’t mind, I’d like to keep you company for a while.” She said and smiled at me.
“I… don’t mind…. I guess,” I replied and laid back on the pillow. “Miss…?” I said silently and turned my head to look at her.
“My name is Marianne, you can call me by my name Akiie.” She said with a silent giggle. “What did you wish for?” she then asked and leaned closer to my bed.
“Miss Marianne… do you know… how I got… here?” I asked.
“Well… I wasn’t there when you were brought in, but I heard your story from the main nurse later when I was assigned to keep watch over you.” Marianne replied and leaned back on the chair. “Do you want me to tell you what I was told?” she asked.
“Yes, please do… I want to know more about myself.” I replied and prepared myself to listen to her.
“Well…I heard that some young people found you on the street not far from the hospital. One of them carried you here on his back and made a fuss in the reception. Can you imagine that?” she said and giggled softly but soon stopped her laughter. She realized that she might have been a bit rude. “As much as I was told you didn’t have any other injuries besides the burn. But as you didn’t wake up after a while and since after a few tries to bring you back to consciousness had failed, the doctor decided to keep you in here until you did wake up.”
“Somebody carried me here?” I asked surprised. I felt thankful for the mysterious person, who ever he was. “Did… he leave me here alone?” I then asked silently, kind of not wanting to hear the answer. Marianne looked at me again.
“He stayed in the reception hall for the whole time you were being treated. They asked him a bunch of questions which he by the way couldn’t answer because he had never met you before.” Marianne sighed. “He was asked to give them his contact info but he said that he didn’t have anything to do with you and what ever kind of accident that had happened to you. I actually saw him leave after the doctor told him that you hadn’t woken up.”
“He did leave me here alone…”
“No he didn’t,” Marianne murmured. “He has been checking up on you from time to time. One day I spotted him outside in front of your rooms door, peeking in. I invited him in, but he didn’t want to come… He sure was shy.” I cheered up a little at that comment. He didn’t abandon me although I was a stranger. It seemed as if I was living in a good world after all. Marianne kept me company every day from that day on. On some days they would run some tests or let me exercise a little. I was moved to an other room, one with less machinery in it. One day the mysterious helper came to check up on me again but couldn’t find me in my room. Marianne dragged him to my new room and we met for the first time. He was older than me… He at least looked like that. The age I was given by Marianne was about 16 or so, but she wasn’t sure of her guesses accuracy. He on the other hand looked like a young adult, tall and fit. He introduced himself to me as Hiroto Rikuto.
“Thank you for your help Hiroto.” I said to thank him but he wouldn’t even look at me. He kept on staring out of the window.
“It’s common knowledge to help the hurt you know. There’s no special need for you to thank me,” he then said without even blinking. I smiled, he was shy just as Marianne had told me before... I remembered the whole story she had told me that evening.
“There is a need to thank you,” I insisted. “After all, you came to look after me.” I added self confidently. Hiroto gave the nurse a short glare, he probably thought it was not nice that she had told me about his visits.
“Well, don’t think you’re something special now, ” he snapped silently. He soon regretted saying that, I could see it in his face. He finally turned towards me. After receiving a glare, Marianna thought it was best for her to leave us alone, so she left.
“I know I’m nothing special…” I said and stared at my hands, they were cramped together nervously. I did not know how to behave myself around men, the one I was used to was Marianna. Hiroto walked closer to me and looked straight at me.
“Sorry. I did not mean it like that.” He apologised and slightly leaned on the bed. “I guess I never expected to see you awake.” He then said and stared out again.
“Did I sleep for that long then?” I asked surprised. I didn’t know for how long I was unconscious, no one had told me yet. He turned his gaze right back at me so suddenly, that I was a little stunned.
“You were in a coma for months…” He explained shortly. “They said that people rarely wake up from such a thing.”
“For months?” I gasped and looked at my wrist. The burn mark had healed, but wouldn’t it take less than a month for such a thing to heal up? “I… I didn’t know. I’m sorry.” Hiroto saw me examine my wrist and looked at it too.
“The burn wound still hurts?” he asked.
“No, it’s just an itchy scar,” I replied and showed him the scar that looked as if I had been branded with my own name.
“Your name is Akiie?” he asked to make sure he had understood right. I nodded.
“That’s what me and the others think.” I said and pulled my hand back to my other hand. “I didn’t remember my own name when I woke up.” Hiroto sat on my bed after hearing that. Surely, it was quite a shocker.
“You have amnesia?” he inquired silently, trying not to seem rude. I had to nod once more, he was right, I had lost all my memories.
“I guess it was just meant to be like this,” I shrugged. “Marianna has been very nice to me. We’ve spoken about a lot of things, even though she does most of the talking.” I smiled. I was really treated good in the hospital. Hiroto turned away again, he seemed a little upset.
“You shouldn’t accept things as they are,” he scolded me again. “You know you’ll have to leave this place soon, there is no such thing as a free stay in the hospital for people who are cured.” He looked back at me and added, “You better try to remember everything you can about who you are, so that you can return to your family.” Just as he had said that, my attentive doctor came to see me.
“Good day Akiie.” He said before he had noticed the guest. “A friend?” he asked as he became aware of Hiotos presence.
“Good day Doctor! This is Hiroto, he was the one who brought me to the hospital.” I replied.
“Aah, I see.” He replied and smiled. “Thank you for saving our princess,” he then added with a silent chuckle. Hiroto didn’t reply to that.
“When is she being kicked out?” Hiroto then asked bluntly. The doctor was dumb-founded by his question for a while.
“Kicked out you say?” he replied more seriously. He looked worried. “Well to be honest… The head doctor is already trying to make us sign you out. But we still don’t know anything about your family or friends, we notified the police about you, but no one has recognized you yet. So far the only ones you know are me, nurse Marianna and this fellow here. Bluntly, things don’t look too good for you right now Akiie.”
“I’m... so sorry,” I apologized, I had made them worry about me so much that it was unbearable.
“Akiie.” Hiroto said and looked at me. “I’ll take you in…If you don’t mind living with total strangers for a while.” He then offered. The doctor was surprised.
“Take her in?” he asked.
“Yes, my mother owns a little hotel, she wont mind lending me one room for Akiies sake. And Akiie can work there too if she wants to.” Hiroto explained. I was overwhelmed. I did not expect such kindness from someone whom I had known for less than a day. I got out of bed and walked slowly to where Hiroto was standing.
“Thank you!” I said with tears in my eyes. Really. Such kindness. Such care. Hiroto blushed slightly and told me to get back to bed.
“You don’t have any normal clothes, do you?” he then asked. I looked at the doctor, he shook his head and so I knew the answer.
“No, I don’t. I’ve been wearing this kind of clothes all the time.” I said. This caused Hiroto to utter a silent sigh.
“I’ll have to ask my sister for some of her clothes. I’m pretty sure you’re about her size,” he said and stood up. “I’ll be back tomorrow with the clothes. I’ll take you with me then.” He added and looked at the doctor coldly. “Is that ok with you Doc?”
“Yes, I’ll make sure everything will be ok until then,” the doctor replied with a hint of stubbornness in his voice. Hiroto left and the doctor came closer to me. “Big day tomorrow,” he commented and checked my pulse once again. He uttered a silent sigh, “Indeed, you’re as fit as a fiddle now.” He turned away and started to leave but as he got to the door, he looked back at me and said, “Best of luck to you princess. Don’t let anyone out there hurt you again. I wont be here tomorrow when you’re going ‘home’, so it’s good bye for us.” I stood up on my bed slightly as I heard that.
“thank you doctor, for everything! I’m really thankful!” I said and bowed deeply as he left my room. “

Pt 4 Harika listened closely trying not to miss any of the story although it wasn’t even near to ending. Akiies story went on…
“The next day, he came back with the promised clothes.” Akiie continued. “Marianne knew I was leaving that day so she spent the whole day with me. She sent Hiroto out as she helped me change clothes. We were in luck, his sisters clothes did fit me. I was facing away from the door and fiddling with my braids as she called him back in.
“Looks good on you.” He commented as she observed me from behind. I turned around and smiled. He suddenly blushed. The redness of his face was partially hidden by his medium length messy black hair.
“Marianne told me that my hair was in braids like this when she first saw me.” I said and pointed at the thin braids that fell down onto my shoulders.
“Yes… I remember…” he stuttered silently and scratched behind his ear. A silver earring shone brightly from the dark background that was his hair.
“It seems like she’s all set to go now.” Marianne said to turn our attention back to what we were supposed to be doing. “Thank you for taking her in Hiroto,” she said and took out a pencil and a piece of paper. “Please give me your address, so that I can come see Akiie,” she asked and handed the things to him. Hiroto took the paper, did as told and then he handed it back to the nurse.
“We’ll be going then. Akiie?” He said and turned at me again. I quickly rushed over to Marianne and gave her a hug. It was like a reflex, because it felt new and familiar at the same time. “Come…” He then said and went out of the room. I looked at him and left Marianne behind as I ran after him.
“Bye-bye!” I said from the door and waved to her like the doctor used to wave to me. I left behind the room with the small bed which was always covered with light blue sheets. The window with a white sun blind and the pale walls. “Please wait up for me…” I pleaded as I tried to keep up with his fast walking. I was still not too fast on my feet. We walked side to side until we reached his home. On the way there I experienced the new sounds and smells of the city and the dangers too.
“We’ll go in this way first…” Hiroto said and led me to a smaller building next to the building with the hotel sign. “Let me look if my mother is here. You wait here.” He added as we stood in the hallway. As I was standing there, the front door opened behind me. I was a little stunned and jumped aside. A girl about my age came in and stared at me. I felt like I was being accused of something as she still didn’t say anything.
“Akiie, right?” she then asked, came in and closed the door. I just nodded. The girl took off her shoes and started to walk to the other room but soon turned around again. “Did Hiroto make you wait here?” she asked. I nodded once more. “Great manners he has… really,” she pouted. She then came back to me and held her hand out to me. “My name is Reenie, I’m his sister.” I looked at her hand, not knowing what to do. The girl with long straight black hair stood before me in this pose for a while.
“Good day, thank you for lending me these clothes.” I said to end the awkward moment. She pulled her hand back as she noticed I didn’t know what she had in mind and laughed silently. She brushed her straight fringe aside for a moment and let it settle back to it’s place.
“They look better on you than they did on me,” she commented with a smile.
“My mom is not here…” Hiroto said as he returned to the hallway. He soon noticed his sister and stopped a few meters from the two girls.
“Hey bro,” Reenie greeted him. “If you’re looking for mom, she’s in the hotel, messing with the paperwork,” she added and grinned. Hiroto came and put on his shoes again.
“I kind of figured that out myself,” he admitted and took me with him. We soon arrived to his mothers office. He knocked and as he got the permission to come in, we entered the room.
“Hi mom,” he greeted his mother simply and closed the door behind me. The older woman looked up from the papers that had taken over her table and then stood up.
“Well.. good day to you as well,” she replied and looked at me.
“Good day ma’am,” I said shyly. I held my hands cramped on my side. Hiroto led me to the chairs in front of her desk and told me to sit down.
“This is Akiie, remember, I told you about her,” he then said and sat down next to me. His mother soon also sat down again.
“But of course,” she said and arranged her papers into a huge pile. “I don’t see why I should not lend her a room for the time being.” she then said with a smile.
“Thank you.” I said cheerfully. “I’ll gladly work to pay you back the kindness,” I then offered. Hirotos mother looked at his son.
“Isn’t she going to go to school?” she asked him straightforwardly.
“Mom, she has no ID. She has lost her memory, remember?” he reminded her. “There’s no way a school would accept someone without documents. Besides, she needs to learn how to lead a normal life first.” He added and looked at me. He was acting like a real big brother. I couldn’t say anything in there, I was too embarrassed because I was pretty much useless.
“Marianne said I was a quick learner,” I then managed to say. I was almost sure she would not allow me to stay and work for her because I was not going to go to school. They both looked at me. The silent one had spoken. Soon after that a silent laughter sounded from Hirotos’ mothers direction.
“Don’t worry, I’ll find you a job you can handle,” she said and smiled again. “Hiroto prepared you a room yesterday, don’t you want to go see it?” she then asked me. I looked at Hiroto… he had prepared a room… for me?
“Yes… I would like to,” I answered and waited for what was going to happen next. Hiroto stood up.
“We’ll go there then, “ he said and took my hand. I was almost swooped to my feet and dragged out of the office. He seemed a little… anxious. It didn’t take long for him to find the room he had promised me. It was the room number 13. An unlucky number. “The people these days are so superstitious. We have never had anyone stay here who had been content with staying in the room labelled with a 13. Even if we would move the number to an other door, people would still not set foot through the door with this number on it.” He laughed and unlocked the door. “So far we’ve taken advantage of that and had our little rest room in here,” he added and blinked. He seemed really amused but back then I just didn’t understand why he was laughing. When the door opened, I saw a huge room. It was a lot bigger than the one I had stayed in before. And the bed in the next room was huge!
“Wow,” I exclaimed and looked around. Hiroto smiled and stayed by the door.
“You’ll eat with us from now on, I’ll come to get you when the dinner is ready.” He said and leaned on the doorpost. “We’ll arrange a little stove and a fridge for you once you know how to cook for yourself.” He added and looked to his side. He was acting like he thought I would be staying there forever, but yet he seemed to keep me at a distance. He soon returned to the house next door and left me behind with the key to the room number 13. My new home. As I myself did not own anything, there was nothing for me to unpack except the little package Marianne had given me as a parting gift. It contained a toothbrush, a hairbrush, toothpaste, soap and a shampoo. I put them away to the shelf in the bathroom and went to inspect the bedroom. I found a note on the pillow. “Welcome home…” it said.
“Home…” I said and laid on the bed. Before I knew it, I had fallen asleep. When I woke up in the middle of the night, I found myself under the bed covers. I remembered exactly that I had not taken anything on before falling asleep, so I was a bit confused. But as I found a pile of clothes on the chair near the bed, I realized that someone had been there. I crawled out of the bed, the dress I was still wearing was wrinkled pretty badly. I held up a piece of clothing from the chair and realised that they were pyjamas. There was one more outfit on the chair. Jeans.. and a matching shirt. I put them back neatly and looked around to see if there was something more left behind. I was right to assume that there was more. A plate with some sandwiches laid on the cupboard next to the bed. There was a note attached, but it was still too dark to see what it said, so I had to turn on the lights.
“You were asleep when I was about to call you to dinner. I didn’t want to wake you so left you these to eat in case you’re hungry. Hiroto.” I read from the piece of paper. I put it back on the plate with the sandwiches and looked back at the clothes. He hadn’t mentioned leaving me clothes as well. I then noticed an other piece of paper on the floor. This one said, “Akiie, these are for you to wear, I hope they will fit you. Sweet dreams! ~Reenie.” I giggled. They really were brother and sister. Leaving little notes like that, worrying about me. I took off the dress I had gotten from Reenie before and put on the pyjamas. Since it was still quite late I climbed back to bed and covered myself with the soft blanket. I looked out the window as the sun began to send more intense rays of light along the horizon. From that day on I lived there and learned everything the kind family was teaching me. Marianne came to visit me a few times a month They helped me get an ID and with that, my official name was Akiie Mikomi. I got to enter the school in about half a year. That was at the time when the school year begun. Hiroto was in the final year now and I was sent to the first year of high school with his sister. Soon after entering the school I started to have nightmares. I figured it was just because it was all new to me, but the dreams became quite frequent. Some times they repeated themselves and some times they went on from the place where the last nightmare had ended. Hiroto told me that I should not pay attention to the dreams because if I didn’t sleep, I was not able to be cheerful. And he also thought that the dreams might help me remember who I was, so he actually asked me to write down what I had dreamt. I slowly got used to the dreams although they still scared me. When a few more months had passed, Hiroto and his sister seemed more exhausted than I had ever been due to my sleeping problems. I asked what was wrong but they shrugged it off as nothing. Their grades fell and they got even more sleepy and gloomy. One day I got Hiroto to tell me what was wrong.
“It’s those darn nightmares,” he sighed and laid back on the couch in my room. He rubbed his eyes. “Reenie has been complaining about these dreams also. I said they are not real but they still get to me every time I see them,” he said and let his hand fall down on his side. He looked as if he was going to fall asleep at any second. But he then rose up and left me alone in my room. I had decided. I was going to fight against the nightmare when ever I was going to see one again. I thought that I had given them the nightmares. I realized I was the source for their exhaustion. The very next night an epic battle took place between me and my nightmare. I was sure I had fought it off. The next day, as we arrived at the school, there was a sign saying that the school was closed due to the building being vandalized last night. There were holes in the walls, the doors were scorched without any signs of them being burned. And many of the windows were shattered. I took it all in and then realized that I had dreamt that I was at school before I started resisting the man in the dream. I did not tell Hiroto and Reenie about what I had realized and returned home with them. After everyone was off to bed, I put my own things that I had bought with the money I had earned with working in the hotel in my bag and left all the lent items on the bed. I also left a note next to them saying that I was sorry for everything and snuck out. As I closed the front door, I could see Hiroto look out of his window. He had noticed me. I ran. As fast as I could, I ran away from the first home I could remember.” Harika was listening with her eyes full of tears. Akiie stopped to give her time to calm down.
“Why are you crying?” she asked and rubbed Harikas hand softly. Harika quickly swept her eyes clean and shook her head.
“It’s so sad. You could have stayed with them, I’m sure it all was a misunderstanding,” she replied believing in every word she had said. Akiie looked down.
“It was not a misunderstanding…” she said silently, her voice was a little shaky. “It has happened more than once,” Akiie added and looked at Harikas surprised face. Harika got a bit more upset again.
“Are you going to flee from me too, thinking that you caused the nightmares? Did you think of how the people felt who you left behind?” she said partially scolding her best friend.
“I know how they felt…” Akiie said and a tear fell onto Harikas hand. “My heart broke every time I had to run away from the people I cared for. But it hurt me and them more when I was there, “ she said and sobbed.
“How can you be sure your disappearance made them better?” Harika almost yelled at her.
“Marianne…. She had my mobile phone number. She sent me mail messages shortly after I left them.” Akiie explained as she wiped off her tears. “Hiroto and Reenie were too hurt to contact me and I do not blame them. I lack the courage to look them into the eye. Marianne however reported to me about how they felt.
‘Why did you run away? Hiroto and Reena miss you already. They want you to come back,’ she said in the first mail. I replied after a week just to know how they were feeling and Marianne sent me this reply: ‘I haven’t told them I’m in contact with you, but I have been checking up on them for you. They seem to be getting over their exhaustion problem. They still miss you. Come back.’ That was the last I heard from them. I changed my phone number and left them to live a normal life.” Harika took her hand away from Akiie and leaned back.
“Are you leaving again?” she asked bluntly. Akiies eyes filled with tears again and she shook her head.
“I don’t want to run anymore…” she sobbed.
“Then don’t worry…” Harika said and placed her arms around Akiie. “We’ll fight the nightmare together when it dares to show it’s face to us,” she comforted her.

Pt 5 Akiie looked up at Harika who had gone through a sudden change of mind.
“Are you sure you want to do that?” she asked and pulled away a little. Harika smiled.
“How hard can it be. I mean, you’ve dealt with this for about a year now, right?” she then replied and let Akiie go completely. Akiie looked to the little coffee table next to them.
“I might be wrong, but it seems like they have gotten a tad worse. ” Akiie admitted silently.
“Worse? What do you mean?” Harika asked and tired to look into Akiies eyes.
“I…. don’t have to be asleep anymore to see the nightmare,” she explained. “The first time I had the nightmare while being awake I almost caused a traffic jam.”
“You mean you just stood there… on the road. Like you did in front of your locker that day?” Harika asked and straightened her back.
“Well… not exactly.” Akiie answered. “The first time I fell on my knees, so I was sitting on the road. I did not hear the other people rush past me but a louder noise woke me up.” Harika put her hand on Akiies shoulder.
“I’ll wake you up again when I see you in a daydreaming state. It’s a promise,” she said earnestly and stood up. She reached for the cup of tea.
“We let the tea get cold…” she commented and put the cup back on the table. Akiie suddenly woke up from her hazy state and jumped up.
“I’ll make us some fresh tea,” she offered and took both of the mugs to the kitchen.
“Don’t bother making tea for me,” Harika said and took her school bag from the couch. “I have to go back home,” she explained. Akiie put down the package with the tea bags and turned back to her guest.
“I’m sorry…” she said and held her hands together in front of her. She felt guilty. She had laid such a burden on her best friend.
“Aah!” Harika scolded her. “Don’t apologize! I said I would do my best, don’t make me regret promising you what I did.” With that said she smiled at Akiie again. Akiie, she was being too serious.
“Ok,” Akiie agreed with a smile. “I’ll see you at school tomorrow then…” she added as she sent Harika off.
“You bet you will see me there!” Harika cheered and ran off. Harika had promised to take care of Akiie and Akiie had promised herself, that she would not run anymore. It was only fair so, she reasoned. The two girls worked hard to lead a normal life, almost no one noticed that there was actually something wrong with the two. Time passed… The dreams got more frequent and every time it had gotten worse. It is a Friday afternoon and Akiie and Harika are on the roof of the school. Akiie stood a few meters away from Harika, who was holding on to the fence that surrounded the platform.
”The dreams are going to become true. I know it. And it is going to happen soon,“ Harika said silently. She looked depressed. “I said I would take care of myself… but I just cant. I don’t have the strength.”
“Don’t say things like that, I won’t let you give up!” Akiie shouted. “I know it’s hard, I have the same dreams, remember? We just need to resist the dreams for a while longer...” Akiie walked to Harika, who now looked at Akiie with tears in her eyes.
“I won’t give up if you don’t give up on me! I’m not as strong as you are.” She sobbed.
“We are strong together! You know we will survive if we stick together,” Akiie said and took Harikas hands into her hands.
“Promise me that you’ll be there for me when it happens… no matter what,” Harika pleaded. Akiie did her best to keep her eyes dry. She was hurting her. It was obvious that Harika was suffering.
“I promise… no matter what happens, I’ll be there,” Akiie then promised. The school bell rang; they had to return to their class. Akiie helped Harika clean off the tears and they went back inside. Everything seemed normal until in the middle of the lesson the time stopped and the only things that could move were Akiie and Harika.
“What is going on?” Akiie asked and looked around. Everything was so… grey.
“The dream, the same thing happened in my dream!” Harika shouted while crying out of fear. Akiie ran to Harikas side.
“Don’t worry, I’m here.” She comforted her. Then it got even darker in the classroom and a cold wind blew a fog cloud through the class. The strange fog made Akiie and Harika fall asleep, they collapsed on the floor, neither of them could move. A black hooded man entered the classroom. He placed his scared hands on the heads of the girls. Akiie woke up a few moments later- she was laying on the floor of the school hallway. She was thoroughly confused; she knew that she had just been in the literature lesson. Akiie then looked around in the hope of finding Harika lying next to her but she wasn’t there. She then stood up and started to walk along the hallway, increasing the speed, as she got more and more worried about her best friend. Akiie ended up running around in the time-frozen school.
“Harika!! Where are you!?!” she yelled at the top of her lungs.
“Akiie… Akiie...” a silent voice whispered. Akiie stopped to look around, she wanted to find out who was calling her, but when she had seized to move, the floor turned into sand and swallowed her. When she came to consciousness she was laying on a shore, the sand and the sea was black. Akiie stood up and looked at herself, she was covered with scratches from the fall and her clothes were ripped in some places.
“Akiie” a girls voice said, “come and meet your fate…” Akiie was startled, she was very scared, but she still followed the voice, hoping to find Harika next to the person calling for her. She walked for a whole hour, and then collapsed on the sand. The weird path seemed to suck out the strength of the person who walks along it.
“I can’t come closer,” she said to the voice. Akiie looked towards the place, where she thought the voice came from, and added, “I cant save her, am I right?”
“No, you cant save me” the voice responded and then a persons silhouette became visible. Akiie looked at the person to see who it was and for her surprise it was Harika. Akiie took her last strength together and stood up to run to her
“Harika you’re alright!!” she cried. “I thought I lost you… I’m so happy I finally found you!” she hugged her. Harika pushed Akiie away from her.
“Happy you found me? You silly thing,” Harika said, grinned and then added, “You should be afraid of me, because I’m going to eliminate you for my master!” Harika raised her hand and a black sword appeared into it. Akiie finally realized that there was something wrong with Harika.
“You cant be Harika!” Akiie shouted at the girl. But she soon begun to doubt in her own words. “If you’re not Harika! Who are you then?” she asked as she tried to get some distance between herself and the person who looked like her best friend. Harika, or the person who seemed to be Harika, pointed the sword at Akiie, with that move her school uniform was transformed into a black armour and her hair turned white. Her formerly brown eyes were filled with a dark shadow. There was no light remaining in her black eyes.
“You know who I am, I’m Harika, your best friend in the whole wide world,” she replied and started to laugh. Akiie shook her head in disbelief. It could not be true, she wouldn’t accept it. “Didn’t you find it strikingly odd that I had done so well up until just now?” Harika asked and let her swords tip touch the black sand on the ground. “Are you really that stupid?”
“I… believe in Harika. But you… you are not her!” Akiie said with a shaky voice and backed up some more.
“That hurt,” Harika commented with a grin and walked after her. “I do this all for your own good and you wont even recognize me and my effort.” Akiie winced at the remark.
“For my own good you say?” Akiie answered to the statement. “How does my death benefit me?” she then asked. Harika laughed once more.
“You’re right, there isn’t much you can get out of dying, but it sure would make things easier for all of us,” she then agreed. “But my master will benefit greatly when there is no trace left of you. And that makes it all worth a while.” Harika announced with a big smile.
“Your master. He is some kind of an evil person, isn’t he?” Akiie asked and tried to retreat once more. If she had confidence in something then it was the ability to run away from nightmares like this.

Pt 6
“You might be right…” Harika admitted but seemed not to care much. She shrugged, “…he does seem evil… on the outside.” Akiie felt like laughing but her body was too stressed to allow her to express her feelings.
“Looked to me like he was evil through and through,” She said as silently as possible. The last thing she needed right now was to make her unusual companion angrier. Which did not seem to work. Harika stomped her foot to the ground heavily.
“You’re wrong!” she burst out. Her face grew slightly red as she glared at Akiie. “You… You are at fault for his misery!” She picked her sword up once more and prepared herself for an attack. “We have waited long enough. It’s time I did my master a sweet little present.” Harika announced and swung her sword to her other side.
“Stop!” Akiie yelled with a shaky voice and held up her very tired hands. She took a deep breath and looked at the sword. “Don’t I get one of these shiny things?” she asked. “I mean… In every other dream, I’ve had some kind of an ability or an item that did not leave me totally defenseless.”
“Oh! You’re right!” Harika gasped and then grinned. “Too bad this is'nt a dream and that you are very much awake.”
“No… but… this…” Akiie stuttered and looked around trying to understand what was going on around her. Not asleep? But the black sand, the sea with no colour at all and most importantly, the atmosphere of the place. It was exactly like in the dreams! As she was distracted by her surroundings Harika decided to start what she was meant to do.
“I promise, you’ll never get out of this alive!” she shouted and with that she attacked her. Harika was sure of her one hit win and was already waiting for her master to come reward her as she heard something from Akiies direction. Akiie, who had cramped her hands around herself and shut her eyes was still standing up. She coughed a little and knelt down. Harika was furious.
“This is a dream after all,” Akiie whispered. She looked back over her shoulder straight at Harikas disappointed face. “Your sword, it did not hurt me,” said and stood up to present Harika her fully intact body. Even her scratches from earlier had disappeared. Harika stared at her, wondering how it could be possible. Had her sword let her down or was Akiie in possession of a power that she had never mentioned to her. Which ever of the two it was, all that mattered now was to do as told.
“Stop believing in foolish things Akiie!” she shouted and closed in to her for a close range attack.
“Foolish things? Real life is foolish to you dream creatures, isn’t it?” Akiie reasoned fearing another attack. She was not sure that the sword was not real as she had thought at first. Somehow she just did not want to take that chance.
“Why bother thinking about such things…” Harika suggested. “Just give up here and now. I’ll make it as painless as possible. We’re friends after all, aren’t we?” Akiie stepped back.
“You and I friends… If you say you know so much about me and Harika, then you should also know of our promises.” Akiie said and straightened up her shaking body. “We were friends, but you and I never.”
“I guess I lied then…” Harika smirked. “Forget about the promises I made with you. They were meaningless.” After saying that she struck Akiie with her sword. This time she observed closely at what happened. Akiie had squeezed her eyes closed again and wrapped her arms around herself to protect her body, but as the sword drew near her, a faint glow surrounded it and formed a kind of a shield between Akiie and the blade. The movement of the said shield caused Akiie to move: she flew backwards through the air, fell on the ground and slid forward for another 100 meters. She then stood up and took a few deep breaths again.
“No matter what you say, I’ll never give up on the real Harika! You are not authorized to say what she meant and what not! I am going to save her from you!” She said confidently and then she began to glow in light lavender light. Akiie herself did not notice any of it. Harika however hid her eyes from the light which seemed to be blinding her.
”Blinding me won’t save you!” she announced and peeked towards her opponent. Akiie started to float and her clothes started to fade away slowly.
“I just said I would not give up as long there is hope.” Akiie replied to Harikas remark with tears in her eyes. Once her school uniform had completely disappeared, Akiies hair wrapped itself around her body and turned white around the tips for a moment. Lavender coloured translucent ribbons and white feathers appeared from below the hair as it threw back to it’s original state. Ribbons wrapped themselves around Akiies neck, hips and arms. A cloud of snow white feathers surrounded Akiies hips above the ribbons and her bust forming wing like formations on the said parts of her body. As a mixture of feathers and ribbons wrapped itself around Akiies waist, her transformation reached the next step. The transparent ribbons glowed especially brightly for a second and then broke into pieces that looked like pieces of glass. The feathers packed themselves together tightly and formed a sturdy piece of clothing. Underneath all the sparkling shimmer, a new outfit appeared. Akiie was now wearing a very imaginative design. She had two layers of loose sleeves that were held up on her arms by a lavender purple bands. One of the layers was transparent and lavender coloured, the other white like the feathers that had turned into a bust and a partial over skirt. The lower layer of the skirt resembled the sleeves. A light lavender coloured corsage seemed to be keeping her dress from falling apart into hundreds of small and bigger feathers. But the most eye-catching detail was the symbol on her chest. It seemed like the glow was coming from it. Although it was covered up by a layer of translucent lavender cloth, which formed a necklace with a darker lavender band and a gem, it shone though as if there was nothing on it. The bright light faded but Akiie still glowed softly. Harika had carefully observed this all, but now she lowered her hands from her face and was surprised to see Akiie looking like that
“What is going on?!?” she shouted “What the hell is the meaning of all this?!” Akiie, who was now overtaken by her inner strength walked towards Harika.
“Don’t worry, I will not leave you behind…” She whispered sweetly and reached her hands out to her. “Come…Harika…my friend.”
“Get away from me!!” Harika shouted and threw an energy ball at Akiie. The energy ball disappeared only a few meters before hitting Akiie. That made Harika steaming mad and she literally burnt out of anger. She then threw hundreds of energy balls at Akiie, faster by the second. After she calmed down, because she thought that Akiie had lost, the dust cloud faded away slowly just to present Akiie without any injuries. She then continued to come towards Harika who was now frozen to the spot where she was standing at. She was so afraid, confused, lost…
“My friend? No, you… you said I wasn’t… You left me before… You didn’t believe… I didn’t …” She stuttered, her mind was so full of her confusion that she couldn’t even speak right. Akiie was close. Really close, but Harika couldn’t move, her body wouldn’t obey. “Leave me alone!” she then squealed. She was prepared for a powerful attack that should have come from Akiie but didn’t. What Akiie did was completely different of what Harika had expected. Akiie hugged her, leaned her head on her shoulder and cried.
“Harika, I’ll never ever let you give up! I’ll stand by you, no matter what you think of me. Were best friends aren’t we?” she said softly through her tears. That seemed to have touched Harika deeply. A single crystal clear tear slid down her cheek. A dark aura appeared around her and then it flew into the dark sky. Harikas eyes got their shine and colour back, her hair turned back to their original colour and the armour was replaced with her school uniform. Harika was freed from her nightmare. She wrapped her arms around Akiie, who now understood that she had gotten her back.
“Harika, you’re alright!” she cheered with her tear filled voice and wiped off the tears as they kept on filling her eyes.
“I’m so sorry Akiie…” Harika said and cried harder then she had ever cried before.
“No don’t…” Akiie said and took Harikas head into her hands. “Smile, the tears…they don’t express happiness like a smile,” she said and smiled, her face still covered with tears. Harika slowly managed to obtain the control over her facial expression and smiled back at Akiie. The image of them crying and smiling together was breathtakingly emotional.
“You failed!” a deep voice suddenly said. Harika and Akiie looked around and saw a dark hooded man behind them. Harika trembled, she seemed to be paralyzed by fear.
“Who are you? You are the one who caused all this, aren’t you?” Akiie asked. The hooded man just grinned.
“You shouldn’t be so curious little girl,” he said and then turned towards Harika, ”Now about you,” the hooded man pointed at her, and added, “You don’t deserve to live anymore. You failed at the easiest mission.” His hand glowed red and as he clutched his wrist together. Harika uttered a silent gasp and collapsed. Akiie was not prepared for this so she could keep her up, they both fell on the ground. The hooded man turned around.
“We’ll meet again! Don’t think you are safe,” he said and disappeared. Akiie softly lifted Harikas head on her lap and comforted her.
“Hold on, it’ll be alright!” she repeated as tears streamed down her face, landing on Harikas forehead. Harika put her hand on Akiies tear wet cheek.
“Promise me that you’ll never give up!” She was in a lot of pain, but she managed to smile “You know I’ll always be there…And so will…” Harika then let down her hand again as it got too painful to keep it up.
“Noo… I need you here, living!” Akiie shouted through tears and leaned over Harika to hug her for the last time. Harika started to disappear from her lap.
“I’m sorry Akiie…I.. really…. am…” was the last thing she had managed to say before disappearing completely. Once Harika was gone, Akiie heard familiar voices again. She raised her head, looked around to see what was going on and found herself in the classroom again. The teacher was in front of the class talking about a famous writers’ works importance in their culture. Akiie thought that all that had just happened was only a dream. She looked at Harika to be sure. Pain shot through her heart when she saw Harika laying on her desk, lifeless.
“No! Harika! Wake up! Please!” she shouted while hurrying towards her. Everyone was looking at her as if she had gone mad.
“What is the meaning of all this?” the teacher asked, walking towards Akiie and Harika.
“She… She won’t wake up!” Akiie cried. When the teacher arrived at Harikas desk she quickly evaluated the situation.
“Everyone out! Akiie you go to the teachers study and call the ambulance!” she said strictly. Akiie ran out of the class, did what her teacher had told her to and returned to the class. She sat on the floor next to Harika and cried.
“Please be all right! Please wake up!” she repeated. The ambulance arrived and the whole school looked to see, what was going on. It was nearly impossible for them to reach Akiies class.
“We’re sorry, there is nothing we can do,” was all they could say.
“She has to be ok, she can’t be dead!” Akiie kept on saying, she didn’t want to believe this. Her teacher knelt next to her and put her hands on her shoulders.
“Akiie, I’m sorry, but she is gone.” She said silently with a shaky voice. This was hard on her as well. Akiie turned to the teacher and cried her heart out on her shoulder. After the ambulance had taken away Harikas lifeless body, Akiies teacher guided the weeping Akiie out of the classroom and told the school secretary to bring her home. Akiie had to wait next to the secretaries’ door for a few minutes before she was ready to take her along.

Pt 7
The unfortunate event that had taken place in Akiies school had caused a ruckus in the home of the seven sisters.
“Did you just feel that!?” one of the sisters asked as she ran to the living room, where her sisters were already contemplating about what they should do. Two were sitting at the table, wildly augmenting and the third one stared out the window all by herself.
“That must have been the power of Hope.” Recca, one of the said sisters, reasoned.
“That means Akiie is still alive! We need to find out where she is!” Monique added in a persuasive tone. The only sister who wasn’t in the bunch talking loudly, was Azure, the oldest sister. But as Monique had made her opinion known, she couldn’t stay away any longer.
”But how do we do that?” Azure asked as she walked to her sisters with her arms crossed on her chest.
“Look, we already know the area we need to search trough is only a few blocks around the school called Haite high.” Recca said to reply to the question asked.
“Did you send someone to look for her already?” Azure asked again.
“Yes, I sent Marice and Airka out just a few minutes ago.” Recca replied as Azure turned around to head out of the room almost not waiting for a response.
“Let me know if she is found, I want to be the first one to talk to her.” Azure said and left the room. She passed Selara, who had been left out of the conversation for obvious reasons. She didn’t say much. The search for Akiie had been unsuccessful until Airka entered her room.
“Recca, I think we found her!” Airka reported to her sister.
“Thank you, you can come home now,” Recca said with a relieved smile on her face. She then went to Azure, told her the news and just after Recca left Azure teleported herself into Akiies room. Earlier that evening Akiie had been crying in the corner of her room. She couldn’t face the reality that Harika was dead, she had been her best friend. The poor girl hadn’t eaten anything proper since the accident in the school, she was depressed, her eyes were red from the crying and she was tired. But she couldn’t sleep, she had to fight against her eyes and her mind, telling them not to fall to the exhaustion. Every time she had closed her eyes before she had seen the hooded man holding his glowing blood red hand out towards her. But now, Akiie was so exhausted that she didn’t care if she saw the nightmare again, she just wanted to sleep. Soon, her swollen eyes were closed and she had fallen into a fragile state of sleep. Only a few moments later the first visitor had come and left her room. Then Azure arrived. She stood in front of her for a minute but then she went closer to the sleeping girl to take a look at her soul. A mirror like surface appeared in between the two and Azure soon poked her head through it. It didn’t take her long before she had entered the realm of Akiies soul. She could feel the pain Akiie had recently lived through and the despair she had been feeling since. While she was looking around in Akiies soul the scenery suddenly changed and Azure found herself deeper in her soul than she had aver been. She could see Hope hiding deep inside Akiie. She was just sitting there with a face full of love and caring.
“I will save her from the pain!” Hope suddenly said, “I wont let Harika down!” Azure was stunned by Hopes strong will. There was no further proof needed, and this was why she left Akiies soul. Azure then slightly touched Akiies forehead with her finger and Akiie woke up.
“Who are you?” Akiie asked when she had opened her eyes and saw Azure standing before her. She tried to move back but as she was already in a corner, there wasn’t anywhere to run to. Fear filled her mind once again.
”Don’t worry, I wont hurt you,” Azure said and smiled. She squatted down in front of Akiie and explained, “We have been searching for you, for a long time now. We almost gave up, thinking that you were really gone for real, but finally you have awoken.” Akiie was confused to tears and the feeling of fear freaked her out.
“What do you mean awoken? Do you have something to do with the nightmares?” Akiie started to cry again, but managed to add “Was Harikas death connected to you too?” Azure put her hands on Akiies shoulders, trying to comfort her. Akiie shook her hands off while trembling from fear.
“Hope, we had nothing to do with the dreams. On the contrary, we would have saved you from the torture if we had known you were here all along.” Azure said confidently. She had to make her believe in her. No matter what.
“Why do you call me Hope! I am Akiie!” Akiie shouted trough the tears that slipped down her face, glowing when they hit the ground. Azure started to explain once again. “Dream.. it’s a dream…” Akiie chanted to herself with her silent shivering voice.
“Akiie, you are Hope! The dreams and the way you have been living since the day you were separated from us, have made you forget who you really are!” Azure said and took Akiies hands. She then added, “I’ll make you see who you are!” With that said, she transported them to the mirror of Reality. It had a white border with a golden symbol on the upper side. “Go on and look what the mirror shows.” She suggested and led Akiie towards it. Akiie was confused, she still felt the need to run away, but she still walked towards the mirror. She expected to see herself, just the way she was. But instead she saw an image of a girl who looked just like her. The girl seemed to glow and she was wearing a really unusual outfit. She leaned on the mirror, not believing her eyes, but then she suddenly remembered.
“It really is me! I remember now! I looked like this when the hooded man had the control over Harika and when…when…” she said and a river of tears flowed down her face “when Harika was… killed.” She kneeled down in front of the mirror, her hands still leaning up against the mirror and cried harder than ever before. Azure walked to Akiie and asked her to stand up and to look into the mirror once again. With a lot of effort, Akiie did as she was asked. Once the tears had stopped distorting everything she looked at, Akiie saw an image of a woman standing beside her, the woman had long blond hair and a white dress, and she also glowed, just like Hope. Akiie turned around to look at Azure and asked, “Who is she?” Azure then suddenly started to glow and her appearance changed to the same as the woman in the mirror.
“This is my true form, I am Truth, your sister,” she answered with a reassuring voice. Akiie didn’t know what to say. She had been all alone up until now. Should she really trust that woman. Doubts filled her mind.
“You… are my sister? But how?” she asked carefully. Azure turned Akiie towards the mirror again and images of five more beautiful ladies appeared.
“There are seven of us,” Azure begun to explain and pointed at the mirror “You are the youngest, Hope, I am Truth, these are Love, Intuition, Inspiration, Trust and Help.” Akiie stood silently for a second trying her best to grasp everything she had seen and heard. She couldn’t help but to feel some kind of a sympathy towards everyone she had seen in the mirror. Maybe, just maybe her family had actually found her. Most of the fear she had felt earlier had disappeared. This. This was a good dream. Even if it was real.
“Where are they?” Akiie asked and turned away from the mirror once more. Azure smiled and hugged her little sister.
“They all are waiting at our home. Do you want to go there?” she then asked and let Akiie go.
“I…” Akiie begun to answer but hesitated to continue. She blushed lightly. “How can I face them. I don’t even know them.” She then added with embarrassment. Azure gently stroke her head.
“Don’t worry. They understand.” She reassured her. “They will be overjoyed to see you again.” Akiie looked up at the slightly taller female.
“Someone, waiting for me?” Akiie thought to herself and a warm feeling filled her heart. This didn’t feel wrong. “Lets… Lets go home.” Akiie whispered.
“Let’s go.” Azure repeated and teleported them to the front door of their home. Akiie needed a moment to notice, that she had arrived at a new location. “Open the door once you’re ready.” Azure said and stepped away from Akiie, making sure she didn’t feel pressured. Akiie hesitated but her curiosity got the control over her. Soon, she was standing very close to the front door, her hand on the doorknob. After softly pressing down the handle, the door started to open up. In a few moments, Akiie was standing in front of an opened door, visible to all of her sisters.
“Akiie!” the sisters cheered when they first saw Akiie standing in the doorway. They all stood up and ran to her to welcome her home.
“Calm down! Don’t’ be so loud, you’re making her feel uncomfortable!” Azure said while looking at her sisters.
“No, it’s ok,” Akiie commented and turned towards her newly found sisters “I’m so happy that I have finally found out who I am and where I belong to.” She said with a smile on her face. No one had expected such a speech from their little sister. It touched them to tears. Everyone got closer to Akiie and gave her a group hug.
“It’s so good to have you back sweetie,” Marice said as tears glistened in her eyes.
“We missed you so much!” Recca and Monique sighed in chorus. Airka and Selara just silently smiled and held Akiie close. Azure joined her sisters and smiled sweetly at Akiie. She was home, at last!
“Come, let’s go in…” She then said and led everyone in. She closed the door again and was the last person to arrive in the living room, where a huge sitting area was already covered by her sisters.
“Akiie, how have you been?” Marice asked. She sounded really worried.
“Have you had any problems up until now?” Airka then asked. Akiie didn’t know which question to answer first.
“Hey! Stop asking questions.” Recca hissed displeased. She calmed down and added. “Just let her tell us what she has been up to.”
“Good idea,” Azure agreed and sat down on the couch. Akiie blushed lightly and begun to tell her story. Everyone observed her closely as she was speaking. She had to fight against tears, because she had remembered everything that she had tried so hard to forget, to leave behind. The confusion, pain, loss… But when Akiie was almost done with telling them what had happened in school earlier that day, she couldn’t hold her tears back any more. She trembled, trying to pull her act together again, but the tears controlled her. She desperately tried to clean her face of tears so that she could continue, but that didn’t go too well because every wiped off tear was soon replaced by a fresh one. Everyone leaned closer to her. Selara and Marice, the two who were sitting right next to Akiie, took her hands.
“It’s all ok. Calm down,” Marice comforted her little sister and squeezed her hand tightly. Akiie sobbed for a few more seconds and then stayed silent.
“Who was the hooded man?” Akiie then asked with her tear torn voice and looked at Azure who seemed to be the right one to answer the question.
“It’s better if you go out and breathe some fresh air for a while. After you’ve had some time to calm down, come back here and we’ll tell you everything you want to know.” Azure offered and stood up. “We wont be going anywhere, so it’s ok, trust me.” She added with a smile. Akiie hesitated a bit, but then agreed with the offer. She really needed to calm down a little. Just a few seconds after leaving her newly found home, she felt cold rain falling on her head, arms and shoulders. She didn’t have an umbrella and she even didn’t want one, she just let the rain pour on her face. After standing there for at least ten minutes she decided to go to her favourite park, the one where she used to hang out with her friend. She didn’t know why she wanted to go there, it just seemed like that there was someone in the park who was waiting for her. Surprisingly it didn’t take her long to get there and she did not get lost on the way even once. Akiie walked straight towards the bench, where she used to sit and watch the clouds slide over the sky. She sat down without thinking and started to stare into the sky. The clouds started to fade away and the rain stopped. As soon as the sky turned sunset orange a flash of light blinded Akiie. That made her turn away her head. When she finally got her eyesight back everything was covered by some kind of a shadow. She heard laughter, it was coming from the right. Akiie felt like she needed to know what or who was laughing and looked to her right. She couldn’t believe her eyes when she saw herself, sitting next to Harika, laughing happily. After a few moments of observing this serene happiness, she thought that everything was back to the way it was before those strange happenings, but then the images of herself and Harika started to fade away and an other sound, which was coming from the left, attracted her attention. She couldn’t decide what to do.
“Should I look what it is, or should I stay here?” she asked herself. But then the bench started to shake beneath her and she instinctively stood up. “I get the message!” she whispered to the sky and with that she slowly started to move towards the source of the sound. Just after a few steps she started to see something. It was a boy, fighting with a girl. The boy wore a long black coat and the girl … she had long brown hair... and a light lavender outfit. “Wait a second!?!” Akiie thought “That’s me, in my Hope form.” Shortly after realizing that, a wave of energy almost blew Akiie down from her feet. When she looked at what was going on, she saw that she was on the ground and the boy was walking towards her. Akiie was almost sure the boy was going to hurt her, but instead he helped her up.
“That was a good training, you are getting better at this.” He commented with a smile.
“Well, I had a great teacher” the other Akiie said, put her arms around him and gave him a kiss on his cheek.
“What is going on? Who is He?” Akiie thought when she saw them standing there. Suddenly she felt a hand on her shoulder, she instantly turned around, and before she could say anything she found herself standing face to face with the boy she had just seen training with her. “Who are you?” she asked.
“You don’t recognize me?” the boy asked surprised “You don’t remember what happened before you started to live a life of a normal school girl?” he enquired. Akiie looked away.
“No, I can’t remember. I just found out who I really am, I don’t know almost anything about my past.” She replies silently. Why she felt so embarrassed to admit that was not clear to her. She cautiously turned back to look at the boy and blushed lightly.
“It’s ok,” the boy replied and looked into Akiies eyes again. “I didn’t remember who I was too, but after we met at the school, on your first day there, I suddenly remembered everything.” He admitted and shortly after he had said that his hair changed colour and Akiie recognized him.
“You are Kanki! But when did we…” she gasped.
“You mean when we were together?” Kanki asked. Akiie nodded. “It wasn’t that long ago, just over a year and a half has passed since we were separated from each other.” He responded and then asked, “Your sisters found you, didn’t they?” Akiie placed her hands together in front of her nervously.
“Yes, I met them all today. They are going to tell me all about my past when I go back to them.” Akiie replied.
“Ok, then it’s better if I won’t tell you anything more now,” Kanki added and took a step back. He then saw Akiies surprised face and said, “I am sure you’ll find it easier to believe your own sisters. But for now, I’m going and you should go home too.” With that said, he disappeared and so did the shadow which just had covered the whole park.

Pt 8
Akiie started to return to her home while the evening sun sank on the horizon. She still didn’t understand what she had just seen, but she knew her sisters would explain everything, wouldn’t they? Everything seemed so peaceful outside. A few late birds sang on the power cables, swinging along with the wind. Rain drops on the plants glistened in a golden light, making everything shine. Akiie lifted her head and noticed that she was already standing before her new homes front door. She raised her hand to open the door, but before she could do that, the door opened by itself. Akiie walked into the living room, where a gigantic table stood, covered with various foods.
“She’s home!” Arika called to her sisters after walking into the room. The other sisters all returned to the living room as well. They were in their other form: Azure as Truth, Arika as Help, Recca as intuition, Monique as Inspiration, Marice as Love and Selara as Trust.
“What’s going on?” Akiie asked surprised.
“It’s a welcome home party!” Marice replied cheerfully when she took Akiies hand to take her to the table. The moment she touched her hand Akiies clothes changed into the clothes of Hope. Akiie looked at herself a little surprised, but soon understood that this was normal. They all sat down and started to eat.
“Could you pass me the potatoes please?” Akiie asked shyly.
“You can levitate things. Just concentrate on the item you want to have and it will float to you by itself.” Selara explained. Akiie tried it out; she concentrated on the bowl with the potatoes. It started to rise from the table, trembled a bit and then fell back on the table. The bowl broke into small pieces and the potatoes were smashed between them.
“Oh! I’m so sorry!” Akiie gasped and stood up to leave her seat.
“It’s ok Akiie, sit down.” Azure stopped her from leaving. “Marice, would you please?” she then said. Marice nodded and soon the bowl with the potatoes was repaired again. Akiie observed that all and couldn’t help but to feel awestruck. Azure noticed that and started to explain.
“We all can levitate things and ourselves, but we all also have abilities that others don’t have. For example, I can go into people’s souls to see what they are really like, Marice can heal everything and everyone and Monique can inspire everyone to do anything she wants. Of course we all have other abilities too.” She said.
“Enough of that for now! I want to eat.” Selara shouted anxiously. They had been unable to eat during the day because they were all searching for Akiie.
“I’m sorry,” Azure giggled. “Let’s eat.” The table vanished after the rich meal and the sisters went to the sofas to sit down.
“I met a boy today. He said his name is Kanki.” Akiie then told her sisters. Her sisters started to look at each other. Akiie observed them carefully and then asked, “Do you know something about him?”
“So, he survived the accident too… And he remembers everything?” Azure replied to Akiies question. Akiie looked at her sisters once more and saw how worried they looked.
“Yes, he said remembers everything,” Akiie answered carefully. Was she doing something bad? Akiie then blushed as she continued, “… He said that we were a couple. Is it true?”
“Yes, you were a couple, you loved each other very much. The fact that he was one of our enemies didn’t keep you from loving him.” Marice replied with a wide smile. She seemed to be the most easygoing member of the family.
“He is our enemy?” Akiie gasped. She didn’t want to believe what she had just heard.
“Sorry for saying this but it’s true. He isn’t that bad, his brothers are the ones who are evil.” Azure said trying not to hurt Akiie.
”Do you want to see what happened to you and Kanki before you were separated?” Selara asked carefully. Akiie didn’t know what to answer. She had forgotten everything and to know everything about her past seemed awfully tempting, but would she have to remember some painful things as well? Maybe there wasn’t anything nice in her past except for her sisters and Kanki. Thinking this way made her wish she could just continue on with the knowledge she had obtained up until that day, but. The past. It is important.
“Yes, please show me…” Akiie decided. Azure teleported her mirror into the middle of the room.
“You remember this, don’t you? The mirror of Truth will show you what happened. But before that I will tell you the main things that were going on before you two met.” Azure said and sat next to Akiie “Two years ago, we were living in total balance, the seven sisters and the seven brothers. We hadn’t had a fight for years. Now look into the mirror.” Akiie looked deep into the mirror. And this is what she saw:
Akiie was sitting on the park bench in the park she visited daily. She held her hands on her lap and gazed into the sky.
“It must be good to be a cloud,” she pondered as clouds floated past. Clouds, so free to float around, only being led by the wind. Wind which is completely free. Seeing all, being able to fit through the smallest cracks. At the same time, Kanki was sitting in a tree opposite the bench and the park path. He was just laying there, his back rested on the stem of the tree. This was his little quiet getaway spot. A little bird hopped on a branch meters away from Kanki, singing silently from time to time. Then the bird flew away as it noticed that a loudly barking dog dashed that way. The dog was running after a cat which fled to hide under the bench on which Akiie was sitting. As soon as the dog got closer, Akiie pulled her legs up onto the bench and uttered a silent cry for help. It was a big and scary dog, especially to one who had little experience with pets. All that noise made Kanki look at that said bench, where all the commotion was taking place. He thought about going to help, but then saw that the dogs owner was coming, so he stayed in the tree.
“I’m so sorry!” the dogs owner gasped as she pulled her dog away from the hissing cat and Akiies legs.
“It’s ok.” Akiie replied silently and smiled nervously. The dog had given her quite a fright, but she didn’t want to show it out. The dog was yanked back once more.
“I’m still sorry, he goes wild when he sees cats. Should keep a better eye on him…” the owner of the loud animal apologised once more and pulled the dog away. “Have a nice day!” she then shouted from afar. After the dog and his owner had left the kitten carefully crawled out from underneath the bench and jumped on it instead. It stretched once or twice before sitting down next to Akiie.
“You got a fright, didn’t you?” Akiie asked the cat as she looked at it. It had no collar, so she didn’t know his or her name. Neither did she know if the cat was homeless. The kitten looked up at Akiie and then started to rub her head against Akiies thighs. “You want me to pet you?” Akiie whispered to the kitten and put her hand underneath her head, rubbing her under her jaw. The fur of the kitten was very soft and warm. Akiie had made a new friend. Kanki observed Akiie as she kept on stroking the black kitten. This girl was…sweet. Kanki stayed in the tree until Akiie left. Then he also returned to his home. He never expected to see the girl again, but as he gazed over to the bench where she had sat the day before, he saw her again. At first, he didn’t feel too interested in Akiie, but as days passed and he kept on seeing her there, he got more and more curious. Then, on one day, it suddenly got cloudy and rain started to fall. Akiie didn’t even move as the raindrops kept on falling onto her head, face and hands. Kanki saw that and jumped out of the tree. He grabbed his umbrella, opened it and walked straight towards the girl he had been observing for days. Akiie didn’t even notice him before he was standing in front of her, covering her from the rain.
“Are you ok?” Kanki asked straightforwardly as he looked at her. Akiie looked up.
“Yes, thank you, I am fine.” She said and blushed lightly. The boy with the umbrella was tall, had blonde semi long hair and seemed nice despite his attire, which just screamed trouble.
“Do you have an umbrella with you?” Kanki asked again. Akiie just shook her head. She wanted to say that she didn’t need one, but she felt that it would sound wrong. “Well, there’s nothing we can do about it then I guess.” Kanki sighed slightly and sat down next to Akiie, still holding his umbrella so, that the rain couldn’t reach Akiie.
“I’m sorry. I don’t want to be a bother.” Akiie said to the boy she had seen for the first time in her life. “You really don’t have to stay…” she added silently. Kanki didn’t even look at her at that time.
“I would rather stay here and keep you dry until the rain stops. ” Kanki replied and shuffled his hair with his free hand. “By the way, where’s that cat?” he then asked. Akiies eyes grew wide. How did he know about the cat?
“Um. It found it’s owner I guess,” Akiie replied and looked at a puddle of rain water in front of her feet.
“What a shame.” Kanki sighed disappointedly.
“Shame?” Akiie asked and looked back at her companion.
“Yes, a shame. You must miss her quite a bit.” Kanki commented. “You seemed so much happier when she was with you. Made me want to get a cat as well.” He then added with a smile. Akiie had to agree, she did feel better while she was with her feline friend. Akiies silence only confirmed Kankis suspicions. They sat silently for a while.
“The rain is getting thinner. I think it is going to stop soon,” Kanki then commented on the weather.
“Yes it looks that way.” Akiie agreed. The awkward silence was broken and she decided to look at the kind young man to see if she could guess what was going on in his mind. It was as if Kanki had felt that she was looking at him, so he turned to face Akiie. The first sun rays cut through the damp after rain air as Kanki lowered his umbrella.
“Is something wrong?” Kanki asked silently. He was quite taken by Akiies forest green eyes. The way they glistened in the sun, their deep, deep colour. Akiie blushed again and smiled.
“No, nothing’s wrong,” she replied and took a glimpse at his eyes before turning her gaze back at her hands. His eyes, they were brown, chocolate coloured. “Thank you for keeping me dry,” she then thanked him. Kankis cheeks turned a little bit red.
“No problem.” He said, trying to stay as indifferent as possible. But somehow, everything he had said or done was nice towards her.
“If there is a way I could repay you?” Akiie suggested and looked at Kanki as he put his umbrella together again.
“You could tell me your name…” Kanki said abruptly. “For starters anyway…” Kanki muttered. Akiie blushed once again.
“My name is Akiie,” she introduced herself.
“I’m Kanki. Pleased to make your acquaintance,” Kanki replied with a smile. He finally knew the girls name. “Listen, I have to go now,” he then added and stood up. “I’ll see you around Akiie.” He smiled at Akiie before heading off. Akiie sat on the bench for a moment more and then stood up to run after him.
“Thank you Kanki, for keeping me company,” she said bravely from behind him and stopped as he waved to her without turning around.
“I’d do it again any day,” Kanki said and kept on walking, leaving Akiie behind. Akiie returned to her bench and took her bag with her and headed off in the opposite direction of Kanki. Akiie was back in the park the next day, doing what she always did. In the middle of the day she suddenly heard silent meowing from her feet. Akiie looked down and found a little white kitten looking up to her. This little creature had a wide blue ribbon tied around it’s neck with a bow. Akiie carefully picked the kitten up and placed him on her lap.
“You are the cutest little kitten I’ve ever seen.” Akiie complimented the little meowing fur ball. The kittens ice blue eyes gazed at Akiie for a moment but then turned to look over his shoulder.
“Shh!” Kanki whispered to him from afar, trying to remain unnoticed for the moment. He wanted Akiie to enjoy the company of the little cat for a while before he joined them.
“So, who are you little one?” Akiie asked as she stroke the kittens little head. The kittens ears twitched lightly and he turned back to Akiie, settling down on her lap. It was now, that Akiie noticed, that the kitten had a little card on his ribbon. She carefully took it. “To Akiie. A little companion for your cloud gazing days…” she read from it. Akiie felt happy for receiving a friend that would not leave her. She snuggled close to the kitten as she raised him up to her face. “Say, do you want to be called Snow, Cotton or Cloud?” she then asked the kitten with a smile on her face.
“Cloud would sound quite cute….” Kanki commented as he finally decided to join them.
“Kanki?” Akiie gasped with excitement. “Did you give him to me?” she asked happily. Kanki just smiled and stroke the little guys head.
“Yes I did. I hope you like him…” he said just as content as Akiie. He took a little kitten toy out of his pocket and swung it around in front of Clouds face, teasing him. “I hope you are allowed to have pets though… I didn’t really think about it before,” he then added.
“He wont be a problem, I’m sure,” Akiie ensured and placed the kitten back on her lap. Cloud started to jump around, trying to catch Kankis toy. Akiie giggled at his cuteness. “I love him. Thank you Kanki,” she then said and looked up to him. Kanki smiled with relief and sat down next to Akiie.
“You wont mind if I come play with him when I see you here again, would you?” he then asked silently. He knew he was just making up excuses to spend time with her, but he didn’t want to admit that to himself yet.
“No I would not mind that at all.” Akiie answered with a cheerful tone. This was the happiest Kanki had seen her and that made him feel… warm inside. They played with the little Cloud named kitten for hours, chatting about a few things.

Pt 9
They had spent a few days together, playing with the kitten, training him. And on other days they didn’t meet face to face at all. On those days Akiie would still go to the park with her kitten and Kanki would observe her from his tree. She wasn’t aware of that and each time he had not come to join her she had felt more and more lonely, despite the playful kitten. On a quite stormy autumn evening Akiie was sitting on the bench once again, wearing nothing but a simple leaf green sweater and khaki jeans. In these earthy tones her natural green eyes and brown hair stood out especially well. Cloud, the white kitten looked like a handful of fresh snow on Akiies lap. Since it was autumn, the leaves had started to fall from the trees, making them easier to see through. Akiie had never looked at the tree where Kanki had spent his days, but then on this autumn day her attention was directed to that tree. As the falling leaves drifted past, Cloud begun to chase after them. Soon, he ended up under Kankis’ tree.
“Meow?” Cloud meowed up to him. Kanki had kept his eyes on Akiie the whole time, so Cloud surprised him.
“Cloud! Shh!” he whispered to the kitten as silently as possible. Kanki didn’t want to be found in the tree. Not yet. But there are things one can not control. The kitten didn’t budge and kept on meowing.
“What’s wrong little one?” Akiie asked and stood up from the bench to go and get her kitten. Kanki shifted nervously in the tree, trying to remain unnoticed. Akiie squatted down next to Cloud and looked at him irresolutely. Since the cat didn’t turn his gaze away from something that was above them, Akiie decided to see what he had found. A thin layer of golden yellow leaves and a few branches separated Kanki and Akiie from each other. Akiie didn’t notice him at first, but then her eyes caught him as he shifted once again. “Kanki?” she asked silently, still not believing her eyes. Kanki laid back on the branch he was sitting on. He had been noticed. There was nothing to worry about anymore…But why he hadn’t just disappeared from the tree seemed to be a mystery for him. After all, he was able to disappear without catching attention. “What are you doing there?” Akiie asked again and shoved the leaves away from her view.
“I’m doing nothing really…” Kanki answered slightly nervously. If Akiie would find out he had been there every day, would she hate him? Akiie got slightly worried.
“Are you hiding from someone?” she asked and let the leaves return to their place. She looked around to see if she had attracted attention to herself and Kanki.
“I’m not hiding…” Kanki said as he tousled his hair and sighed. He then stood up on the branch and jumped down to the ground. The white kitten meowed again. Akiie picked him up and stood there, right opposite to Kanki.
“It’s ok if you were hiding…” Akiie started to say.
“I wasn’t hiding from you!” Kanki cut her off. Akiie blushed.
“I didn’t think you were hiding from me…” she admitted. “I thought you had run into some trouble…” she added. Kanki looked at her.
‘She really doesn’t think too highly of herself…’ Kanki thought to himself as he had seen the shy side of her that he had seen before. “Don’t sell yourself short.” Kanki said an turned away. Akiie looked at him surprised and confused. “I wasn’t sitting in the tree to hide from you. That’s true. But I have been sitting there because of you,” he admitted.
“Because of me?” Akiie asked silently. She didn’t quite understand what he had meant by that.
“Do you remember the day when a dog chased a cat to your bench?” Kanki asked from her. Akiie nodded. “Since that day, I have seen you here every single day. Sitting all by yourself on the same bench. Just opposite this tree,” he continued. “I guess you caught my attention then. I never planned to actually go and talk with you. But on that rainy day, do you remember?”
“Yes. I do…” Akiie said and nodded.
“You looked so helpless that I just couldn’t stay away.” Kanki then said. “What were you thinking? Sitting in the rain like that.” Akiie knew why, but she couldn’t tell him that she never got ill. No matter how wet and cold she was. “Anyways, I have been watching over you ever since.” Kanki explained. Akiie didn’t know what to say. She could say that she didn’t need any protection, but that would sound weird and impolite.
“Thank you…” Akiie then silently said and blushed. Kanki turned back towards her and caught her blushing.
“Why are you blushing?” Kanki asked. Akiie looked at him and blushed even harder.
“I haven’t been watched over like that before… It sounds comforting,” she replied and stroke her kitten.
“The way you act so carelessly, someone has to look after you,” Kanki said bluntly.
“Carelessly?” Akiie asked surprised.
“Well, yes. You seem not to care about what happens to you.” Kanki explained. He was the one to talk. He wasn’t taking care of himself either. Still running around in the outfit which resembled a school uniform. Not the most suited outfit for the season.
“I do care… ” Akiie tried to argue back.
“Let’s forget this…” Kanki suggested and walked away from the tree. A strong gust of wind blew his way and a dozen yellow leaves followed him to the bench. He didn’t want to make her upset nor to hurt her with his words. But somehow he couldn’t control his mouth. Akiie stood under the tree for a while and just looked at her white kitten.
“Meow?” the white fur ball meowed and turned his head towards Kanki. It was obvious that the little kitten had gotten fond of the boy. Akiie went after him.
“I’m sorry I am so troublesome,” she apologized as she stood right behind him. “I am not used to communicating with other people, so I never know how to act.” Akiie then added. Kanki turned around as he had heard that.
“You are not a troublesome person…” Kanki replied to her apology. “Forgive me for my words, I don’t know how to interact with others either. That’s why I have been sitting in that tree all day long every day,” he then admitted. He sat down on the bench. “Somehow I always manage to get into some trouble when I just walk around in town,” Kanki explained silently.
“You’ve been up there every day?” Akiie asked and sat down next to him. She placed the kitten between herself and him. Kanki nodded. “You don’t go to school then?” Akiie kept on asking.
“No, I don’t…” Kanki replied and looked at Akiie. He wanted to see her reaction to what he had said. He was hoping to find out more about that girl.
“Home schooled?” Akiie suggested.
“You could say so,” Kanki agreed. “You?” he then asked.
“I think you could say I was home schooled also,” Akiie replied with a little smile. “I think I understand why you want to spend so much time out now,” she then added.
“You do?” Kanki asked.
“When one is trapped between the walls of their home it is only natural to want to get out. I come out because I need a change. Something to do,” Akiie explained calmly. Kanki smiled. They were the same. He had never expected to find anyone who would understand what he was going through, even if he’s case was a bit different.
“You got it absolutely right,” Kanki commented with a smile. Cloud crawled up his thigh and settled down on his lap. Kanki begun to feel like he could feel free around Akiie. Like there was nothing that he had to worry about when he was next to her.
“It’s not much fun just sitting around though,” Akiie then admitted as she looked at what Cloud was up to. Kanki laughed.
“Indeed, it’s not,” he agreed willingly. “But what else could one do when there is no-one to spend time with,” he reasoned. He reached below the bench and pulled up a straw. Kanki swung it around in front of Cloud, trying to make the kitten play with him. But the kitten didn’t react. The smell of rain was in the air.
“He’s sleepy…” Akiie pointed out to him.
“Yea.. I kind of noticed that,” Kanki laughed silently. “Must be the weather,” he added and looked up to the sky. There were a few darker clouds drifting past on a smoke grey background. “Looks kind of wet up there.”
“I guess it does,” Akiie said as she looked up as well. Cloud stretched and yawned on Kankis lap. “There is rain in the clouds, There is rain on the ground There is water here, And all around…
I cant see your face, it faded away... When the golden trees begun to sway...” Akiie sung while gazing into the mysterious grey sky. Kanki turned his head immediately as she had begun singing. Akiies voice was silent but powerful, sweet yet harsh. He had never heard anyone sing like that before.
“Akiie, that was beautiful,” Kanki complimented silently when she had stopped singing. He didn’t take his eyes off her for a while. Akiie looked back down and blushed lightly. She had never sung when there was someone else around before. “Did you write the song yourself?” Kanki then asked.
“I did,” Akiie replied with a smile. She was quite happy because it seemed like Kanki had liked it. “It’s just the beginning of a song actually,” Akiie explained softly. ”It is still an unfinished song.”
“But it sounded very good. Even though it was a bit sad…” Kanki said and looked back at Cloud. The cats ears twitched. Akiie looked at Kanki surprised.
“Sad?” she asked. She didn’t know exactly what this song was about yet. Akiie always let her heart speak when she sung a song for the first time.
“Well. There is this feeling of sad longing in the lyrics. In the ‘I cant see your face’ part especially,” Kanki explained his thoughts. He couldn’t understand why the words spoke to him so. “But I guess the song wont be as sad once you finish it…” he then added hopefully. Kanki really didn’t like to see her in a unhappy mood, for some reason.
“I guess you’ll have to tell me what it tells you when it’s ready,” Akiie said with a smile. She didn’t want to succumb to the gloomy weather. Rain clouds were gathering above their heads.
“You’ll sing the song for me once more?” Kanki inquired. He was already waiting to hear the rest of the song, but he knew rushing things would ruin it.
“Yep,” Akiie replied and nodded cheerfully. “I don’t know when it’s going to happen, but I promise I’ll let you hear it,” she promised.
“Thank you,” Kanki replied cheerfully again. He carefully picked Cloud up from his lap and placed the sleepy cat on Akiies lap instead. “I’m sorry, but I have to leave for today,” he apologized and stood up.
“Do you really have to go?” Akiie asked. She was a little disappointed because he was leaving her behind again.
“Sorry, my family is very strict about curfews,” Kanki explained and laughed. He didn’t hope that she would understand what his family was like. After all, his family was one of a kind. Akiie smiled at him.
“I’ll see you again tomorrow?” she replied hopefully. Kanki rubbed the behind of his head.
“If a war doesn’t begin tomorrow. Sure, I’ll come here again,” he replied half joking. They both laughed. “Well, I’m off,” Kanki then said and went to his tree for a moment. Then when he had gotten his bag he turned around and added, “Don’t sit in the rain again, ok?”
“Ok,” Akiie promised and waved to Kanki as he left. When he had gotten out of her sight, Kanki quickly teleported himself to his room. He sighed and laid down on his bed.
“I’ve had it!” a loud male voice shouted from the other room. “How long are we going to have to put up with those stupid sisters!” he added even more furiously.
“Calm down Korin, everything in it’s own time. Alright?” an even deeper male voice said.
“Ognus, you always say that. Isn’t it about the time to finally get rid of them?” Korin asked his older brother. He was pacing back and forth anxiously.
“Soon…” Ognus simply replied. Kanki turned the other side. Such displays of displease were not new to him, so he didn’t take it seriously. He just wanted to fall asleep and wake up in the morning so that he could go and surprise Akiie with an idea he had though of earlier. A wonderful day was awaiting him and he couldn’t wait for it to begin.

Pt 10
The next day had begun. Kanki jumped out of bed eagerly. He was so excited. He took off before any of his brothers could come to check on him.
“The little troublemaker is off again,” Martus commented as he went to the living room . “Fooling around as usually?” Darus asked and then sipped some coffee from his mug. Martus just laughed. For all they knew, Kanki was just causing problems for some random people. Doing what he was supposed to do.
“Good morning!” Kanki cheered as he jogged to Akiie who was already in the park. His tartan bag hung diagonally over his torso. He looked a little made up - his hair was puffier than usually and he had straightened up his clothes.
“Morning Kanki!” Akiie replied cheerfully. She liked the fact that he had come to her straight away. Kanki smiled and grabbed her hand gently.
“Let’s go~” he hummed cheerfully and pulled Akiie up a little. Akiie tilted her head and stood up carefully. She had to keep Cloud in her arms for the time being.
“Where are we going to?” Akiie asked curiously. She was a bit confused. Kanki smiled cleverly.
“You’ll see when we get there,” he answered. “It’s a surprise!” Kanki laughed, he was in a good mood.
“Ok then,” Akiie agreed. Her eyes glanced at Kankis bag for a moment. “I’m afraid I’ll find out where we’re going before we are actually there…” she then whispered to Kanki. Kankis’ brow rose.
“Why do you say that?” he asked curiously. Akiie pointed at his bag. Two tickets to an amusement park were right in front of her. Kanki hadn’t put them in the pocket properly. He smacked his forehead with his palm. “Argh… There goes the surprise element,” He growled at himself.
“It’s ok,” Akiie comforted him. “It is still a really nice surprise.” She pulled Kankis arm back down from his face and smiled at him. “Shall we go?” she asked sweetly. Kanki soon cheered up enough to get moving. He couldn’t forgive himself for being so careless, but what mattered was that they had a great time.
“I hope you’ll like it there. It can be quite loud and crowded,” Kanki then said as they walked out of the park side by side.
“It can’t be silent everywhere like in it is in the park,” Akiie said simply with a content smile on her face. Kanki smiled and they kept on walking towards the amusement park. After ten minutes of walking side by side they arrived at the point, where most of the biggest rides became visible.
“Our destination, ” Kanki announced and pointed at the amusement park. Until then Cloud had sat still in Akiies arms but now he begun to wince around. Akiie tried to calm him down, but cloud only replied with a few meows.
“What’s wrong Cloud?” Akiie said silently.
“He must be afraid of the big rides…” Kanki guessed. “What should we do now? If he’s terrified of the rides, we can’t go there.”
“Don’t worry,” Akiie said and leaned closer to Clouds ears. She whispered something to him and he soon calmed down again. “All better,” Akiie cheered silently with a smile.
“You really have a magic touch when it comes to animals,” Kanki praised his date. Soon they arrived at the front gate of the amusement park. After showing their tickets they were allowed to go in. It wasn’t as loud as Akiie had expected.
“Where shall we go first?” she asked and looked at the different rides they had in their reach.
“Hmm… Let’s go take a break at the fountain there,” Kanki replied and pointed forward. A big round multi layered fountain stood proudly just a few hundred meters from them, spraying water up constantly. “Wait here for a moment. I’ll go get a map,” Kanki then said and dashed off towards the info stall leaving Akiie at the fountain.
“And he’s off again…” Akiie sighed silently and looked into the shimmering water of the fountain. Cloud stretched his paw out to poke their reflection but he couldn’t reach it no matter how far he had reached. Akiie looked down into the water as well. She had always found water to be extremely beautiful. Soon, without a warning, Kanki returned.
“Ahem…” he made his presence known with a little cough. Akiie turned around immediately and found herself facing a huge pink ball of fluff. “Do you like cotton candy?” Kanki then asked and peeked at her from behind the sweet cloud. Akiie reached her hands out to touch the pink stuff that Kanki had called cotton ‘candy’. It didn’t look like any candy she had seen before.
“How does one go about eating this cotton?” Akiie asked curiously. She had never seen anything like that. Kankis eyes grew wide with surprise.
“You have never had any of this?” he asked still not believing what he had heard. Akiie blushed strongly since Kanki had sounded so surprised. She lowered her head trying to hide how embarrassed she was behind her bangs.
“I haven’t even seen anything like this before…” she admitted. Silence fell upon their lips. Akiie took a shy glace up at Kanki, trying to see if he was still acting surprised or if he was disappointed. Akiie was afraid of any emotion actually. As she peeked upwards, Kanki squatted down in front of her and smiled. He gently plucked a strand of the cotton candy off the big pink ball and placed it in front of Akiies mouth.
“Open up, it tastes good, I promise,” he encouraged her. Akiie blushed even stronger and then slowly opened her mouth. As her moth had opened up enough, Kanki poked the strand of cotton candy into her mouth. As the sweet substance met with the inside of Akiies mouth, she realised what it was and how it tasted like.
“It’s so good!” Akiie exclaimed enthusiastically without thinking how childish that sounded. Kanki couldn’t help but to giggle. All was good.
“Here, it’s for you,” he said and placed the whole ball of fluff in Akiies care. In return he picked up Cloud and kept him safe in his arms. “Do you want to go take a look at the stalls before we go find a ride?” he then asked and stood up again.
“Sure!” Akiie agreed cheerfully and stood up right away. They looked around in the amusement park for a while before taking an other break. They had stopped in front of luck-game stalls and Kanki had won some stuffed animal toys which he had given to Akiie as a present each time. But since Akiie could only carry a few, Kanki had to place some in his bag for the time being. The time had come to take a ride in one of the presented rides. They first tried out the teacups. Cloud held on to Akiie with all his tiny claws as the cup spun round and round. Plushies filled the little free space between Kanki and Akiie with no trouble. They outnumbered the two with ease. Akiie was enjoying herself to the fullest. And so did Kanki who found his joy in Akiies cheerful face. All the exciting and dangerous looking rides never got to see the couple as Clouds safety came first for the two. The last thing they did in the amusement park was to take a ride in the Ferris wheel that had little see-through chambers instead of simple seats. As they entered one of these chambers, Akiie carefully sat down as it swung back and forth a little due to her movements. Kanki sat opposite of her and put his bag on the floor. Soon after that they began to swing to and fro as the wheel begun to rotate. The first few moments were the most anxious for both Akiie and Cloud who had no idea what to expect. As Kanki was observing Akiies every movement and emotion, Akiie looked around in amazement. The view was new for her.
“I can even see the park,” Akiie said and pointed at the park they had come from earlier.
“Yes. You can even see your usual bench during this season,” Kanki added absent-mindedly.
“One can?” Akiie asked and looked at him. She noticed that he had been looking at her and that made her blush. A hot shiver ran down her spine.
“Yes, it’s right there next to the big tree there…” Kanki replied to divert her attention from his behaviour to the park once again. But it didn’t work. Akiie looked at Kanki her cheeks glowing pink, the green of her eyes filled with the light of the setting sun. Kanki leaned forward bit by bit until their faces were only inches apart. Kankis heart was racing and he could feel how his head radiated heat. They both seemed mesmerised by each other and the view. The only one who didn’t submit to the spell of the location was cloud. He yawned loudly as to announce that he’s bored and sleepy. Akiie suddenly pulled back and so did Kanki. They had found themselves in a situation neither of them had expected to experience. Kanki felt slightly nervous being around Akiie for the first time.
“Thank you…” Akiie whispered silently as she looked out towards the park once again. Kanki looked at her once again.
“Why are you thanking me?” he asked.
“For everything you’ve done since you came to sit with me in the rain…” Akiie replied and turned towards Kanki with a smile. She was really glad she had met him. It seemed right to her. Everything he had made her see, experience, feel. Feel. Akiie had begun to realize her feelings. Kankis mood changed and he felt more relaxed.
“Thank you, Akiie,” was all he wanted to reply. She had taught him so much as well. The Ferris wheel begun to finish its round and it was about the time for the three to leave the cabin.
“The day has ended too soon,” Kanki complained as they had gotten out of the shaky glass chamber. Akiie turned around once she got her feet steadily on the ground.
“The day doesn’t have to end right now,” she replied hopefully. Kanki smiled and climbed down the stairs towards Akiie.
“And it won’t end…” he mused and took Akiies hand without even realizing what he had done. “Let’s walk back to the park together.” Akiie nodded agreeing. She would do anything to make this day last longer. Unfortunately they reached the park quite fast. They stopped in front of the park bench Akiie used to sit on.
“Would you mind coming out with me tomorrow too?” Kanki then asked silently. Akiie thought about it for a second as she looked up in the clear sky, the first stars were showing and the moon was just about to reach its highest position. “So, what do you think?” Kanki asked again. Akiie closed her eyes as she smiled.
“Sure, I don’t see a reason we couldn’t meet tomorrow,” she replied cheerfully. Akiie then felt a kiss on her cheek.
“I’ll see you here tomorrow then,” Kanki whispered in her ear. When Akiie had opened her eyes the only thing she could see was the park, shining in the silvery glow of the moon. Then she lowered her head and noticed that she was sitting on her favourite bench, Cloud sleeping in her lap, plushies sitting next to her. Akiie was a bit surprised, but then thought she had just been daydreaming. She then stood up to return home, she looked around carefully and since no one was around, she flew home. Elegant wings made of light floated behind her back. The toys received their own wings and followed Akiie to wherever she went. She landed just before the house and entered the building from the back door. She quietly snuck into her room and just as she was going to close her rooms’ door, the lights went on; Azure, Recca and Marice were waiting for her in her room.
“Where were you? We were worried about you!” Recca said with displease, her arms crossed on her chest.
“One of the brothers was lurking outside, and we couldn’t find you,” Azure said to explain why they had worried. They always feared the worst when it had something to do with the brothers. The only one who didn’t look upset with her was Marice, who now walked to Akiie and stood next to her.
“I guess she was at a really loud place, which could have been the reason why we couldn’t get to her. He-he-he” she tried to support Akiie with an alibi.
“It doesn’t matter anymore, at least she’s home and as we can see she is not hurt,” Azure said as she and Recca stood up to leave Akiies room. “Aren’t you coming Marice?” Azure asked before leaving.
“I’ll come after in a sec, I just want to talk to Akiie for a bit,” Marice said and giggled cheerfully to divert their suspicions.
“Ok, good night you two,” Azure replied and left.
“Akiie, you should go to bed soon, it’s really late. We must be ready for the worst. No-one knows what the brothers are plotting,” Recca said with a slight tone of fear in her voice. It was obvious she was worried. Then after a few moments, when Azure and Recca had left, Marice sat down on Akiies bed.
“So, how was your date?” she asked abruptly. Curiosity shone brightly in her blue eyes. Akiie was caught off guard. She had thought they didn’t know where she had gone to. And what surprised her more was what Marice had called it… a date.
“Date?” Akiie replied silently as she leaned on the closed door for support. “I don’t know…” she added doubtingly.

Pt 11 “Like I wouldn’t notice the sparkle in your eyes,” Marice winked and said. She then stood up, put her right hand on Akiies left shoulder and asked “How was it then? Who is he, is he nice?” Akiie looked at Marice, she had the curious face of a little child. Akiie blushed. Marice always had been the one to know what was going on in her heart.
”His name is Kanki, we met in the park I visit daily,” Akiie explained. “At first, he didn’t even come to talk to me but one day he came over when it was pouring down… I thought I had been alone so he surprised me.” She sat down on the floor in front of her closet and fiddled with her fingers until Cloud came out of her closet and crawled up her thigh onto Akiies lap.
“Ooh! A kitten!” Marices eyes began to shine as she noticed the little white cat. “Since, when have you had him?” she inquired curiously as she tried to lure Cloud to come to her. Akiie laughed a bit, Marice was so funny when she was curious.
“He walked to me one day,” Akiie explained as her heart started to beat faster again. “Kanki had gotten him for me. He said he thought I needed a little warm companion for my cloud gazing days.” She gently petted Clouds head as memories of the past weeks flew through her mind.
“Ooh, someone is falling in love!” Marice danced around in the room.
“I am not…” Akiie tried to argue back immediately while staring at Marice ungratefully. She was dumbfounded. Couldn’t bring herself to finish the sentence. ‘I couldn’t be really…’ Akiie thought to herself as she placed her free hand on her cheek, where Kanki had kissed her earlier.
“Ok then,” Marice noted as she stopped moving around in the room. It was obvious to her what the state of things was. “Go to bed, dream about something beautiful, see you in the morning!” Marice then announced and walked out of the room leaving Akiie sitting on the floor. Akiie slowly got up to change her clothes and go to bed, she couldn’t fall asleep, her heart was pounding so fast and loud when she thought about Kanki. Cloud had taken in his usual spot right next to Akiies pillow but even he couldn’t sleep when Akiie kept on looking at him. His owner softly brushed her fingers through the kittens’ fur. Clouds eyes narrowed as he begun to purr loudly.
“I wonder how it got this way.” Akiie whispered to her little pet. “How didn’t I notice this until now,” she asked the sleepy kitten. Cloud yawned widely, his back rose as he stretched before he walked to Akiies neck, where he made a new nest for himself. Clouds little, soft and warm body managed to help Akiie fall asleep. Kanki arrived at his house; just minutes after Akiie had fallen into her nightly slumber. He didn’t want to end the beautiful night that fast and that’s why he had walked home instead of teleporting himself there. He looked at his home with disgust.
“Why must I be one of them? I don’t belong here, I’d rather be a human and spend my life with Akiie.” Kanki thought to himself before entering the house. After having just walked into his room he said, “I was out finishing some things I had to do,” to the brother he saw waiting in his room.
“Good, you never rest from doing your job,” Ognus praised his little brother. “Get to bed now; you’ll need all your strength in the fight tomorrow.” Ognus set to leave the room, but Kanki stopped him before he could leave.
“Wait. Tomorrow?” he asked as he clenched his hand around Ognuses arm. A slight smirk appeared on Ognuses face.
“You weren’t here when Korin came back from one of his walks,” he explained with a satisfied expression. “You will be happy to hear this; we found out the sisters whereabouts,” he bragged.
“You did?” Kanki asked with a slightly too surprised voice. Who would have thought they would find them. And on such an unsuitable time.
“It was a matter of time. With Korin acting like he was,” Ongus reasoned, trying to ignore how naïve Kanki had just sounded. “That’s why we never stopped him.” Kanki turned to face his bother with nothing but one thing on his mind; how to make them change the date of the attack. His mind was set.
“So, you’re sure we’re going tomorrow?” he asked seriously. Ognus looked at his youngest brother.
“Why. Not a good time for you?” he pried. Kanki turned away with a bitter face.
“No actually I have plans for tomorrow,” he snapped quite arrogantly. “Cant we reschedule?” Ognus brushed Kankis hand off his arm.
“Little brother, you can reschedule,” Ognus said rather coldly. “You know as good as the others. This is what we’ve been waiting for.” He gave Kanki a slight glare but he knew that it was just his playful side that made him request what he had just asked for. Well, that’s what he thought to know at least. “Don’t worry about your plans,” he then commented. “You’ll have time for them afterwards.” Kankis brother walked out of the room. With having accomplished nothing he had wanted, Kanki laid on his bed disappointedly.
“This is just typical of them” he thought as he clenched his fist around the bed sheets. “Guess I can’t do much about it,” Kanki cursed himself for not being incisive enough. “Akiie, I wish things would be different…” he thought over and over again while he had closed his eyes, trying to fall asleep. A few hours later the sun was already shining brightly in the morning sky. Nothing could have suggested what was coming up later that day. Kanki resentfully opened his eyes, the black ceiling never seemed to be so depressing, the dark wallpaper was just as his brothers wanted it to be, dark, blackish red, with a symbol of his dark self on the wall, remembering him, that he is one of the bad guys. He raised his hand towards the ceiling, tightened his fist slowly and said “I’d leave this place, only if I could. Akiie, I hope you can make me feel like a normal boy.” Soon after that Martus knocked on the door.
“You really need to change your habits bro,” he complained, “We can’t even wake you up when you keep making that darn bubble around your room.” Kanki glared at the door for a moment before standing up. He opened the door enough to show that he was indeed awake.
“Well I could do that,” Kanki admitted, “But it would totally be bad for me if you run into my room when ever you feel like it.” Martus just smirked.
“Sorry bout that, “ he said while running his hand through his long sleek hair. “Well, you’re awake, get ready, we’re going soon.” Martus said and left with a sour expression. He couldn’t help but to think that his brother was still mad about that incident a few years back. “Who could have guessed he didn’t like stuff like that…” he murmured to himself. “I would have rejoiced if I would have gotten a present like that.”
“Admit it, no one but you likes those vile creatures,” Weng commented from the hallway.
“They’re not vile at all!” Martus protested loudly. “Snakes are as elegant as a pet can be.” He said with determination. Weng couldn’t help but to roll his eyes.
“Whatever you say,” He said and leaned on the wall. “But don’t you even try to sneak some in our rooms like you did to Kanki.” He glared at his brother. “Not all of us have been given the power to get a good night sleep like he has.”
“Wake up sleepyhead!” Marice said, while trying to wake up Akiie who was still under her blanket fast asleep.
“Uh! What? Do I have to get up already?” Akiie yawned as she stat up laying the covers aside. She stretched once and asked, “Is it certain they are going to attack us today? I have a place I must be at.”
“Nothing is certain my dear, nothing,” Marice said as she walked out of Akiies room. She turned around and winked. “I’m sure you’ll make it to the park in time,” she said cheerfully and left. Since there was nothing better to do for the time being, Akiie put on her day clothes and went to the others.
“Good morning,” she said when she had entered the living room. Everyone seemed to be in quite a foul mood that morning. Azure stood up and looked at Akiie.
“We. Might have to move somewhere else,” she announced abruptly. Akiie felt a little bit confused at first but then she realized what kind of position they were in. If the brother who was lurking outside their house had noticed something, and IF they had decided to come face them in a fight after all these years, surely there would be trouble involved. Furthermore, they had an advantage over the sisters. The moment of surprise.
“They sure like to be in the offensive mode…”Akiie sighed and sat down on the couch. “We’re nothing but sitting ducks to them now.” Recca, Monique and Airka looked at Akiie with a sorrowful face.
“If we could do something against that, we would…” Selara said trying to find an excuse. Akiies head rose as she looked at her sisters.
“What do you mean if we could?” she asked. “Do you mean we’re really going to stay here just to wait for them?” Akiie inquired bitterly and stood up once again.
“But sweetie…” Marice tried to calm Akiie down.
“It makes sense, doesn’t it?” Akiie rambled. “We get out of here, far enough so no one will see us. No one around us will get hurt. We can do that, cant we?” She took a deep breath and swallowed hard. “We at least. Have to make sure we will have a home to come back to.” She said before she turned away decisively to face the window. None of the sisters had experienced Akiie as fired up as she was at that moment so they were kind of lost.
“We’ll leave right away,” Azure said and turned to leave the house. “If we must face them, then we’ll face them. No way around that,” she admitted sadly. But then, in a fired up kind of way, she added, “We will be meeting them on a neutral ground.” Azue smiled. “Where no one will be hurt because of us.” Everyone stood up immediately and prepared to leave their home behind for the time being. But just as they had reached an uninhabited area, they got a nasty surprise.
“I don’t think that running will be helpful for you right now,” Darus commented as the brothers gathered around the sisters one by one.
“You know, the powers you just used,” Solito cleverly pointed out. ”They’re damn easy to track down.”
“And what’s most important,” Ognus said as he reached the oldest sister. “This time you’re going to die!” he whispered in her ear loudly enough that everyone could hear it.
“Don’t get us wrong now,” Azure said and transformed into Truth. “We weren’t going to hide.” Soon all the seven sisters, Hope, Truth, Love, Help, Intuition, Inspiration and Trust were standing in front of the brothers.
“So, you’re showing us your offensive side at last?” Ognus mocked the sisters. Kanki just stayed in the furthest point possible for the time being. He couldn’t help but to think this all was pointless and utterly stupid. His brothers should have known that there hasn’t been a successful fight in years. The sisters were tough. They always managed to come out on the top.
“Let’s just get it over with,” Kanki hissed as he walked closer to the group of young women.
“Here we go boys!” Ognus shouted as he begun the first actual attack against the sisters. He targeted the oldest sister, the other brothers just randomly chose their opponents. The ones who didn’t like the situation the most were Akiie and Kanki. Since they had agreed to meet in the park on that day they were both quite absent minded. Staying alive was good enough for them. Just so that Kanki could go see Akiie, and Akiie could go see Kanki. That was all that mattered.

Pt 12 Weng had summoned his floating swords and was busy causing havoc in the midst of the group of sisters. The girls separated from each other instantly and thus the brothers had a chance to pick an opponent. Though attacks came from both parties, the side that was most into the fight was the side with the seven brothers. Akiie had to struggle to stay away from the attacks of various brothers. Once she was threatened by Darus, the other time it was Korin who was after her. No one saw her as a big threat since she was the youngest of the sisters.
“Come here you brat!” Solito shouted as it was his turn to put Akiie into a dangerous situation. Akiie couldn’t think of anything that she could do in the situation so she just blocked the attack with a shroud of light lavender glow. Solitos hand was pushed back forcefully. As soon as Akiie saw an opening, she jumped high into the air trying to avoid getting attacked again in an instant.
“Are you going to go after her or not?” Martus shouted to Solito as he saw him standing there like an idiot.
“Yeah yeah,” Solito growled back and followed Akiie to the sky. All that time, Kanki had been trying to get by with hurting his opponents as little as possible without making it look obvious that he didn’t want to fight. His plan was to tire out the sisters without killing them. At times he would make them fall to the ground by making the ground underneath them shake and to crumble, leaving them in a pile of mud that wouldn’t let them move without having drained the sisters from a lot of energy. The fight had lasted for hours and the sisters were already exhausted, the evil brothers weren’t that fit anymore either. Soon Kanki bumped into Hope due to the course of actions. When he looked at her he couldn’t help but to think it was Akiie. He had never seen Hope from such a close distance before.
“No, it can’t be, I must be mistaken! It cannot be her! Akiie is a normal girl,” he thought to himself and then turned towards Hope. “Please, don’t make me hurt you, it’s not worth it,” he said silently, trying to stay away from his brothers attention. Akiie couldn’t understand what was going on, the evil brothers were all supposed to be evil.
“Why did he say that?” she thought and looked at Kanki suspiciously. “What do you mean, aren’t you the one attacking us?” Akiie asked carefully, trying not to cause any more hatred towards herself and her family.
“Good job brother! Get her! We’ll need a prisoner!” one of Kankis brother shouted as he saw Kanki standing in front of Hope. Kanki looked at his brothers and decided it was better if they didn’t see what was going on. With one swift movement, a cloud of dust and dirt rose from the ground and separated the two from the view of their siblings.
“They don’t see what we could achieve with peace! I don’t want to fight…”Kanki whispered to Akiie as secretively as he could without looking dangerous to her. Akiie instinctively backed away a little, but somehow Kankis words persuaded her. It was like she knew him.
“You’re in charge of creating doubt, aren’t you?” she asked questioningly. “Why should I believe you.” Kanki looked at Akiie seriously. She had a point.
“Let’s just put that stupid thing aside for now,” he said as the cloud of dust begun to fade away. “All I mean is that we could just stop this senseless fighting,” Kanki added, emphasising his thoughts with gestures. At that moment Recca saw Kanki standing in front of Akiie and thought he was going to hurt her. She attacked Kanki with her thunder chain, trying to get him to back away from Akiie.
“No! He’s not like his brothers!” Akiie shouted instinctively as Recca hit Kanki. Recca was shocked about what her little sister had said and didn’t know what to do next. Kanki fell to the ground, the injury was really bad. Especially since the attack came as a surprise to him and he couldn’t dodge it at all. But at least it was just one cut wound. Akiie started to emit a bright lavender glow. But this glow was not cold, it was a warm, healing kind of glow. But the brothers didn’t know that and as they saw Kanki on the ground they immediately thought of the worst. They thought Hope was about to attack.
“Korin!” Ognus shouted to his brother. “Get Kanki!” he added and pushed Azure far away. Korin did as told.
“Got him!” he shouted and all the brothers teleported themselves, including Kanki, home.
“Why do we have to fight? Can’t we live in peace?” Akiie asked as the glow and her Hope appearance faded away. Azure walked to Akiie and put her arms around her shaken sister.
“Dear, we’d also like to live like the normal people do, but the brothers, they don’t want to give up,” she explained calmly. “All we can do is to try and keep the balance.”
“One of the brothers wants to live in peace too! He doesn’t want to fight against us!” Akiie shouted and brushed her sisters’ hands off of herself and backed away.
“And you know this because?” Monique asked as she stepped closer to her. Akiie didn’t have any proof about the honest intentions of the brother she had encountered so she couldn’t be absolutely sure that she was right. But something inside her told her to argue back.
“I hope you can trust me with this,” Akiie said with a much calmer tone. “Even if what he told me was a lie meant to make us loose our guard, I still want to believe in it.” She stayed true to her feelings.
“If we cant trust you,” Selara said and put her hands on Akiies shoulders. “Then who could we trust?” she added with a smile. “I’m sure we’ll be able to restore the peace we lost.” Selara said as she looked at Akiie and Trust. Marice, who just now went to Akiie, poked her from behind trying to get her attention.
“Maybe you should look at the time, you’ll have to go soon,” she said silently into her ear. Akiie looked at the clock and noticed it was very late already.
“I’m sorry I have to go,” she said as she turned around to run off towards the park where she and Kanki were supposed to meet. “I’ll be back in a few hours, ok?”
“Sure, go, but be careful.” Azure said as Akiie took off. It was kind of unusual of her to run off like that but they decided not to think too much of it. They figured she was tired and wanted to be alone for a while to think.
“Stay still Kanki! The wound is really bad,” Darus scolded his brother as he started to bandage Kankis wound. “The more you move, the more it will hurt.” Kanki almost lost consciousness as the bandages pressed on the bleeding cut in his body.
“What time is it?” Kanki asked and tried to sit up.
“No, stay lying!” Darus shouted and made Kanki lie down again. “It’s about half six right now. It’s ok to fall asleep. Not too early,” He said and left the room. Kanki laid powerlessly on his bed as the wound pulsated pain through his whole body.
“Akiie is surely still waiting for me, I can’t let her down,” he told himself and slowly started to stand up. Once he got up he rolled out of bed and went to his closet to get something to put on. He opened the closet door, and took out a black shirt. Just as Kanki started to close the closet door again, Martus appeared next to him.
“Are you going somewhere?” he asked with a somewhat angry tone. Kanki looked at him as if there was nothing wrong with him.
“I just want to do something, I can’t just lie around all the time,” he said and put on the black shirt.
“You know you should let the wounds heal before you start playing your games again.” Martus said and smirked. He could see how his brother struggled with getting the shirt on.
“Now that’s my problem, isn’t it,” Kanki said arrogantly as if his brother had nothing to say that could change his mind.
“I’m just saying, you know,” Martus said as to brush off Kankis attitude. “It’s your body after all,” he added and left without saying anything more to his stubborn brother. Kanki buttoned up his shirt and get ready to leave. When he had left his house he immediately took course for the park where he was supposed to meet Akiie. Since he wasn’t as fit as he had hoped to be on that day, he had to resort to using his powers to make it easier for him to reach his destination. He saw Akiie sitting on her favourite bench as soon as he had entered the park. She looked like she was lost deep in thoughts. She seemed kind of worried and bothered about something. Even though Kanki was quite near to her already, she hadn’t noticed him.
“Hey! Why the serious face?” Kanki asked as cheerful as he could to make her smile again. Akiie was surprised when she heard his voice. It came so unexpectedly that she couldn’t reply as fast as she would have liked to.
“Hi! It’s nothing, just a family problem,” Akiie then finally said and smiled because she didn’t want him to worry about that. “How are you today?” she then asked to build up a conversation and to change the topic. Kanki smiled slightly at Akiies reply.
“I’m alright,” he lied to Akiie to keep her from worrying. “Did I keep you waiting for long?” Kanki then asked silently while being afraid that he had kept her waiting for the most of the day. Akiie shook her head and looked up to Kanki.
“I just got here myself,” Akiie admitted. “So, what are we going to do today?” she then asked as she stood up.
“What would you like to do?” Kanki asked and held his right hand on the wound on his right side; it was aching so badly, that it was quite hard for him to seem happy.
“Well…” Akiie thought for a while and then said, “We could just go for a walk now, and we’ll see what we’re going to do later.”
“That’s a great idea,” Kanki said and took Akiies right hand in his left hand as moving his right hand was kind of painful. Akiie slightly blushed as their hands met but she didn’t mind it at all. They walked around in the park aimlessly.
“Did you have a busy day too?” Akiie asked after they had been walking in awkward silence for a while.
“Kind of,” Kanki said with a slightly shaky voice. “My brothers kept me indoors for most of the day.” Kankis feet got heavier and heavier by the minute. He was barely able to move forward.
“Are you ok?” Akiie asked as she saw how Kanki shivered. “You look so pale,” she added with worry.
“It’s nothing, don’t worry about me,” Kanki said and tried to walk ahead. Akiie stood in front of him and put her hands on his waist to keep him from taking another step.
“I’m not stupid! There is something wrong with you, I can see it!” Akiie scolded Kanki loudly. Kanki flinched as Akiie placed her hands firmly on his wound. He carefully brushed Akiies hands off his bandaged waist and stumbled backwards a few steps. Akiie saw blood on her hands before he could say anything.
“You’re hurt! Why didn’t you tell me! I must get you to a hospital right now!” Akiie cried out in panic. Her eyes were full of tears and some of them rolled down her cheeks. Kanki collapsed on the ground as pain struck through his whole body once more.
“Don’t be afraid, it’s all ok,” Kanki managed to say through the pain. After that, he looked at Akiie and everything around them turned black as if every ray of light had been replaced with darkness.

Pt 13
“What’s happening?” Akiie asked when she noticed the unnatural change in their surroundings.
“Please, don’t be afraid, I’ll explain everything…” Kanki said as he tried to force his weakened body to stand up. Akiie couldn’t believe what she was seeing. She didn’t know if she should help Kanki or if it would be better to keep away from him. She knew she wanted to rush over to him in her heart, but she couldn’t move. She just kept on looking at Kanki with eyes full of doubt and fear. When Kanki was completely standing up he drew a symbol on his forehead with his left hands forefinger. After doing that his body started to glow in a dark red colour. As soon as the glow disappeared, Kanki no longer looked like he did before; his hair and clothes were changed.
“You are the doubt brother? “ Akiie gasped and automatically backed away from him. She felt deceived now that she knew who he was. Kanki was even more shocked as he heard her say something totally different from what he had expected. “Why must you be one of them?” Akiie asked silently with regret.
“How did you know, that I’m one of the brothers?” Kanki asked as he tried to walk closer to Akiie. He then stopped and looked at her with eyes as sad as he was for revealing his identity. “I’m sorry I’m one of them. I wish I wasn’t. The thing I want most is to be a normal human like you,” Kanki explained. “I just want to be a normal human and share my life with a normal girl like you…” he repeated as to convince her. Akiie had stood on one spot for the whole time, but now it was her turn to go to Kanki.
“I want to be a normal human too,” Akiie admitted silently. She then transformed into her Hope form and added, “But I’m afraid we can’t be normal.” Kankis eyes grew wide as he recognised who Akiie was.
“Hope…” Kanki sighed. He should have recognised her earlier. “I knew you looked too much alike,” he said as Akiie stopped right in front of him.
“I’m so sorry Kanki,” Akiie said as she held her hand close to where Recca had hurt him earlier.
“Don’t be sorry Akiie, it wasn’t your fault, ” Kanki said as he covered his wound with his hand again.
“You have to take it easy Kanki,” Akiie said and supported Kanki who was clearly exhausted. “Let’s go to the bench,” she then suggested as she saw him clenching his fist. Kanki nodded and they then set off to find the nearest bench. Akiie sat down first once they had found one. Then she helped Kanki to lay on the bench, placing his head on her lap. Kanki then continued their earlier conversation.
“I’m actually glad it happened…” he admitted silently.
“You’re glad?” Akiie asked with astonishment. She looked at his face now, not knowing how surprised her expression was.
“I’m very glad,” Kanki said earnestly. “I’m glad we don’t have to hide ourselves from each other anymore,” he added with a faint smile. Akiie understood what he meant immediately. She smiled.
“It’s indeed a relief,” she agreed willingly but then she glanced at Kankis wounded side again. “I just find it sad that you had to get hurt for this to come out,” Akiie sighed with regret.
“It can’t be helped,” Kanki commented quite cheerfully considering how much pain he had to suppress. “We were both determined to act like normal humans when we were together.”
“We both did very well, didn’t we?” Akiie mused. “I never even thought that you could be someone like me.”
“Even though I used my powers when I was with you,” Kanki admitted.
“You did? When?” Akiie inquired curiously. She couldn’t remember anything that should have warned her about Kankis hidden identity. Kanki smiled as he realised that Akiie was unable to point out when that had happened.
“In the amusement park,” he pointed out. “I thought it could be a bit loud for you, so I muffled the sounds of the park just a bit.” Akiie laughed silently at that remark.
“Thank you for being so considerate, but I think it would have been fine without your interference also,” she teased her companion a little. “I had a great time nonetheless,” Akiie said and blushed lightly.
“I’m glad you did,” Kanki said and looked up to Akiie. “I enjoyed every minute I spent with you…” he confessed seriously. Akiie blushed harder now. “Every second that passes while I’m with you eases the stinging pain in my side,” Kanki said and closed his eyes. Akiie carefully stroke his hair trying hard not to disturb him. She looked up in the sky. There should have been a few early stars up there by the time, but Kankis shield prevented them from shining down upon them. Tears started to fall from Akiies eyes as everything that had taken place that day all hit her at once. The battle, the wound, the revelations. ”Please, don’t be sad,” Kanki said as he opened his eyes. Akiie looked down at Kanki, he had her tears on his forehead.
“I’m sorry I woke you up.” Akiie said and smiled sweetly as she put her hand on his chest. “Are you feeling better?”
“Yes, I’m feeling much better being here with you. I wish we could stay here like this forever,” Kanki answered and put his hand on Akiies hand, which was still on his chest.
“Do you think our families will never stop fighting?” Akiie asked and looked at the ground in front of the bench. “We’ll never be able to live like normal people, will we?” Kanki pulled her gaze back to his face.
“I’m sure we can make them stop the fighting. We just have to show them it is useless to keep on wasting their energy on hatred.” Kanki reasoned.
“But how are we going to do that?” Akiie asked silently, not exactly believing it could work.
“We’ll have to make them listen to us. We have to show them what we have in mind,” Kanki replied as he looked deep into Akiies eyes. “What do you think; are your sisters worried about you yet? It is getting really late.”
“Time doesn’t mean anything to me while we’re together,” Akiie replied, looking into Kankis eyes. Kanki pressed his hand gently around Akiies hand, keeping it safely in his gentle grasp. They sat there, with no noises disturbing their peace for a while more. The black leaves of the dark trees were totally still as there was no air movement in Kankis black bubble. Suddenly a warm wind blew past Akiie and the sounds of the city returned. She looked down at Kanki surprised.
“We must go back home now,” he said solemnly. “We mustn’t give them reasons for hunting each other down.”
“You’re right.” Akiie agreed against her will and helped Kanki to stand up. “Be careful when you get home,” she scolded him. “Don’t do anything that might make your condition worse.”
“Don’t worry, I wont,” Kanki promised with a small smile on his face.
“I hope the wounds are going to heal fast,” Akiie said and blushed. “I’ll be waiting here in the park for you,” she vowed looking deep into Kankis eyes. “Every single day...” Kanki smiled and wrapped his arms softly around her.
“I love you Akiie.” Kanki said silently into her ear and then teleported himself to his room.
“I love you too…” Akiie whispered into the warm summer wind.

Pt 14
Kanki lay down on his bed quietly so that he could enjoy a few more moments of the lessened pain. He knew Akiies effect on him would wear off soon. He was about to doze off as Martus strode into his room. “You’re back already?” he asked mockingly. Kanki gave him a thankful glare as he was being made fun of. “You were so upbeat and lively before, why so gloom now?” Martus asked and leaned on the wall making it obvious that he was not going to leave any time soon. “What’s this?” Kanki replied. “I look gloomy?” he gesticulated lively. “No need to play funny,” Weng growled as he also entered the room. “It’s far from funny in my mind,” Kanki commented while he was still laying in the same pose as before his brothers had come to bother him. The pain was slowly but surely creeping back to his side. “Who told you to go out to play?” Ognus asked rhetorically from behind Weng who now stood aside to let his oldest brother pass. “Nonetheless they hurt you quite bad,” he murmured as he observed as Kanki didn’t even at his comment. “We’ve got to hit them back to where it hurts, ” Weng mused happily. “I agree!” Martus joined in eagerly. “This time there is no turning back.” Kanki was agitated enough now to move. He sat up slightly: supporting himself on his elbows. ”Why are you so damn foolish!” he groaned angrily. Kanki then turned away from his brothers and added “My injury is nothing compared to what we will destroy when this all continues.” “You are a bit rebellious today,” Ognus commented with a smirk. “Must be hallucinations from the wounds” he announced without asking Kanki to explain about his behavior. “Lay down again and cure out the stupid injuries, so that we can end all this nonsense with the sisters,” Ognus ordered coldly and left the room. “Listen to us, ” Martus said as Ognus had gotten out of hearing range. “Don’t go look up the sisters. They’re not the innocent creatures they play to be,” he continued. “You must know that we are the only ones you can truly trust” Weng added with a serious expression on his face. It seemed as if they were suspecting that something was going on that they weren’t informed about. They were expected to be the first ones to notice since the two were the brothers who had spent most time with Kanki. Kanki laid on his bed staring at the ceiling, taking in all what his brothers had said but he didn’t believe them anymore. He might have obeyed earlier but now that he had learned to know one of the sisters he couldn’t force himself to cultivate the needed feelings of hate and despise towards them. “Oy! Are you listening?” Weng growled angrily at him. Martus who had been playing with his long icy-grey hair also looked at Kanki with a quite crossed expression. They both felt like they were being ignored on purpose and that agitated them both even more. But as they couldn’t do anything against it, they decided to leave Kanki alone for the time being. Kanki was all alone in his room now but he didn’t fall asleep like he had wanted to. New problems had arisen with Ognuses commands. There was going to be another fight.
“Hello!” Marice shouted as she snuck into Akiies room. “Why are you blushing?” she asked as she looked at Akiie who had been alone in her room, playing with her kitten for a while.
“Oh, it is just…” Akiie begun to answer after a brief moment of silence.
“Kanki, right?” Marice cut in as she sat down next to Akiie. “So, how is he?” she prodded flinging her long wavy brown hair way from her face to prevent them from covering her ears. Akiie didn’t know what to tell her at first: she didn’t want to tell anyone about who Kanki was. And since their encounter had been how it was she couldn’t tell her the truth no matter what. After a moment of deliberating and choosing her words, she walked up to her closet and pretended that she was looking for something.
“He’s doing fine,” Akiie said, looked at Marice and smiled as earnestly as she could in the situation she was in. “We just met in the park again,” Akiie explained calmly as she took out her nightgown.
“That’s good to hear,” Marice said with a smile. She liked it when things were going smoothly in peoples love-lives. Even though relationships were not exactly something the sisters could allow themselves.
“You wont tell the others, will you?” Akiie asked as she turned back to face her older sister. She knew it was irresponsible to ask this of her, but she really didn’t want any trouble with the sisters yet. Trouble was inevitable in the long run any way.
“Nope~” Marice hummed through an earnest smile. “You can rely on me!” she announced proudly and straightened herself up. Akiie couldn’t help but to feel grateful to her sister.
“Thank you, I really appreciate it,” Akiie replied with a quiet and a tad embarrassed voice. “Hey, Marice, How are the others? What are they up to?” Akiie then asked as she went back to her bed again, sitting down next to her sister. Marice wasn’t interested in the new topic Akiie had brought up so she pouted a little.
“Well we haven’t done anything too interesting. We don’t know when we will have to consider with another attack, so there’s nothing we can do, ” she finally answered with an uninterested tone of voice.
“But what if we can finish this without another fight?” Akiie asked and looked seriously at Marice.
“Do you really think that they will listen to us? They barely trust each other, why should they trust us then?” she asked with obvious surprise. Akiie shook her head in disbelief. She knew she could trust Kanki and his wishes, but it was impossible to know what the other brothers thought of the matter. “By the way,” Marice said as she stood up again. “Why are you avoiding everyone?” she inquired with childish earnestness. Akiie looked down on her lap ashamed. She didn’t want to reveal anything about Kanki to the other sisters yet. And the only way she thought she could keep it a secret was to keep away from situations where they could ask her about her daily activities. She knew Marice would keep it to herself because she wasn’t the one to spread gossip nor was she one to talk about someone behind their back. Akiie really appreciated her childish values.
“I’m sorry,” Akiie apologized. “I’ve just got a lot on my mind right now.” Marice stood next to Akiie in silence for a while.
“Don’t worry about it Akiie,” she comforted her younger sister. This was one of the few occasions when Marice was acting her age. “Just don’t become a stranger, ok?” she added with a loving warm voice. She then decided to leave but just as she had reached the door, she rested her hand on the doorknob and stopped. Marice turned around and added “But I must agree, it would be heavenly if we could stop fighting.” She looked back at her hand on the doorknob. “If we could only get one of then to trust us, we could even achieve it,” she sighed silently. Marice then walked out of Akiies room and went back to the living room to rejoin the other sisters who were sitting there.
“Akiie is really an angel,” Marice commented with her childish smile as she sat down next to Azure. Everyone looked at her immediately. They didn’t know what had brought up this comment and they were really interested in finding out what Marice had meant with it.
“Care to explain?” Recca asked from the window. Marices face lit up like a proud child’s face who knows the answer to a problem.
“I’m sorry,” she said as she became a lot more serious. “I cant tell you right now,” she added quietly as she looked at her sisters. “Just give her time and she’ll tell you herself.”
“That’s ok, “ Azure replied without being upset at her sister. She could understand her feelings well. “But can you tell us what Akiie has been doing: she has been avoiding us lately,” Azure asked with concern.
“She is tired of the fighting,” Marice lied to her sisters. She had promised Akiie not to tell anyone about her boy friend.
“Ah, that’s understandable,” Azure said and smiled a sorrowful smile. “I’m sorry for her. It must be tough on her.”
“She’ll be fine,” Recca tried to cheer everyone up. “She’s got the power of Hope, how could she ever waver?” Akiie who everyone blindly believed in lay silently in her bed awaiting a dreams warm embrace. Her furry companion silently stretched and yawned as sleep claimed him when she herself still hadn’t fallen asleep. Some time around midnight Akiie could feel herself slip off to sleep as well.
