Last year, my friend told me she can see ghosts. That might've been when it started, as well, but I haven't asked about that too much. I've been like her breathing diary of what happens to her since then.
She told me she'd see the ghosts, receive a feeling from them (or maybe not even that... maybe it was an observation of their presence, and the feeling she got from them was another part of that observation), and then they would go away.
Lately, she says they're trying to enter her. They don't stay in for very long, so we're not sure if it can really be called a 'possession'. She says she sees them, they see her, and then they dive into her or something for a split second.
Also, she says she sees them at night after she wakes up with a start. She isn't sure if they're getting at her through her dreams, if she wakes up and then sees them, or if they are nightmares. She mainly remembers the feeling she gets from them, what they look like, what it feels like they want, and, more recently, a feeling of terror from having the ghost attack her like that.
She wants them to stop. She thinks they want help or maybe some understanding of what happened to them, but she doesn't want to help them because she's afraid.
So... hmm... do any of you know what's happening to her? Are the ghosts trying to possess her? How would you recommend getting them to stop?
Even if her experiences are only in nightmares, the way they're affecting her is in reality. We (at least, I know she will) appreciate any insight you can offer.

First thing she needs to be aware of is that the Spirits can't hurt her. So yeah they will probably float in and out, but they can't stay. It can be creepy, but they are incaporeal, and it is a natural thing for them. As to why they dive, there are a few reasons that she needn't be concerned about. All your friend needs to know is that they cannot actually possess her, they cannot harm her, and there is no need to fear them.
The last part might take a while to build up, so we can work on building barriers a bit. Hopefully, it will reduce the "Diving effect".
If she meditates or does any visualization exercises, she can ask for light to come down and suround her, or run her hand across her chakras as if she is pulling down blinds or turning off light switches. If she doesn't then the simple act of running her hand down the center of her body should offer some protection. I'd recommend her doing this in the morning and at night, although she can do it more frequently if she feels the need to.
If she is Christian, the Lords Prayer, and the 23rd psalm (The Lord is my Shepard...) are good. Sorry, that I don't have access to other prayers from other religions that might help.
If she has access to crystals there are many that can be used
Agate, Alum, Amber, Apache Tear, Asbestos, Calcite, Carnelian, Cat's eye, Chalcedony, Chrysoprase, Citrine, Coral, crystal Quartz, Diamond, Emerald, Flint, Fossils, Garnet, Holey stones, Jade, Jasper, Jet, Lapis Lazuli, Lava, Lepidilite, Malachite, Marble, Mica, Moonstone, Mother-of-pearl, Obsidian, Olivine, Onyx, Pearl, Peridot, Petrified wood, Pumace, Ruby, Salt, Sard, Sardonyx, Serpentine, Staurolite, Sulfer, Sunstone, Tiger's eye, Topaz, black/red Tourmaline, Turquoise, red/clear Zircon
Which ever she feels comfortable wearing. My personal preference is obsidian (includes Snowflake and apache tear).

Ergh. I had a nice post typed out, but I guess I took too long and Gaia signed me out. Let's go again...
My friend (I'm calling her Clementine now. Long, nonsensical story...) really appreciates the information. I gave it to her over AIM, so it'll probably take her a bit longer to wrap her head around it and practice the defenses, but I think she's more relieved. That peace of mind should help a lot.
Now for something else that happened. At another friend's house (for the sake of space, let's call her Jelly) I was standing next to an electrical socket behind a chair that Clementine was sitting in, and I got this really weird vibrating-shock feeling in my ear that was closest to the socket. A few minutes later, when she didn't have her back faced to the wall I was standing near, Clementine saw the ghost of the previous owner that died in the house.
I have never had a supernatural experience. Would that electrical vibration thing be related to the ghost? Clementine said the lady was trying to say something.
Also, Clementine got a really warm, nice feeling from the lady, but the lady didn't like Jelly at all. Then I learned that Jelly's family suspects that her aunt may have cast some black magic on her. Would the spirit be perceptive of that, or would the negative feeling be based on something else? Jelly's mom is remodeling the house, but I don't think that quite explains why the previous owner would be so negative towards Jelly.
(I might not be able to get back to this quickly. Finals! Gah!)

yeah I have that happen to me frequently as well. Usually though, so long as you don't loose the original window you made the post in you can relogin, then back up to where the post was and still find it there and intact so that you can try and resubmit it again. I think I've only had a couple of times where it didn't work.
That reduction of fear is what I was hoping for. She will probably find that as her fears lessen, eventually, so will their antics.
Electrical sockets can be funny things depending on how well they are grounded, but then the ways Spirits can get our attention can be just as fun. I can see the spirit using the electricity to get your attention, or it could how you were percieving the communication. It varies depending on the spirit and our ability to perceive them.
Spirits are just as complicated as humans when it comes to reasons why they like or dislike someone. You would have to figure out a way to communicate with her to learn the answer. It could be anything from not liking her style of cloths, music, her personality, or Jelly being a reminder of someone she use to dislike when the lady was still living. As to the spell, I don't know, would depend on the purpose of the spell, and how badly it mucks up Jelly's energy field.

Her telling you may upset the spirit (or spirts). Have her try seeing what they want. Maybe there's a real reason they're doing this (besides trying to scare her or posses her). Have her wear a cross or rossary if that keeps them at bay or anger them, call a preist RIGHT AWAY. If they do nothing when you do this, give them a pen and paper and ask them their name, age, when they died and why they're there

This sounds like a very serious case... If anyone here has seen the movie Shutter, a japanese girl possesses a man's friend and causes him to jump out of a really high building and commit suicide, if I were you I would definitely try and figure out what they would want. HOWEVER, it would be against the laws of supernaturalism for ghosts or spirits to cause pain or torment. ( I really hope this isn't causing any fear crying redface ) but anyway, maybe if you have camera's set up in your room, maybe you can capture something bizzare.
