What's a speed prompted flatsale? GOOD QUESTION.

Basically, you answer the prompt. We're giving you five hours to do so. When the time is up, we pick the winner for each egg. You send 10K, we cert the eggy up, and that's a wrap! How's that sound? ...what, you want more details? Well, okay. Here's how it goes:

Tell us, in 500 words or less, about your potential RP development of this egg. How will it be raised, what will it's personality be like, what task will it take on, what emo trauma will befall it... give us all the juicy details, and if we like your idea then you get the egg! Isn't that easy?

Please post using the following form text, in this thread.

I can has eggu plottings?
Trying for: Mist.
Prompt: And thusly ahead lies the origins of the tale of Windfeather, a Teacher of Noctua and an honorable soul with a clear conscience. He knows what he wishes from life, and life has given him such so far.

I plan for this egg to be a male, and for him to grow up fine and normal in the care of a Minder who taught him a few life lessons and values he follows to the letter today. This boy will get no fancy feather dyes or showy accessories, believing that a Sentinel without adornment is more beautiful than one with the most amazing and astounding feather dyes and the most ornate and polished accessories. He’ll be dubbed Windfeather upon his hatching, and will eventually take the task of Teacher. Windfeather will be an average enough Sentinel, but with a valiant and confident personality that has bolstered him for so long. He takes no crap from anyone, but will always be kind to those around him. Windfeather will be proud to be a Teacher. He'll take his lessons calmly and slowly, getting through each day with his own stoic resolution. Then, one day, he decides to take a nice, mind-cleaning flight after a particularly frustrating lesson. When he does so, all things seem to be going fine with his life...until he sees her.

A Sentinel flying by, so beautiful that he can barely keep himself from calling out to her. His dignity prevents him from pursuing after ‘his’ angel, but Mistfeather smolders inside, desperate for the love of the Sentinel of his dreams. (I’ll arrange something with someone when he grows up if I win him. 3nodding ) He’ll resolutely confine himself to his own fortress of ice, remaining aloof and proud....but inside, that wall of icy concentration and focus is melting away. He’ll eventually bare his soul and heart to the Sentinel, only to be rejected—only if he hasn’t steeled his resolve. There is a chance that poor, love struck Windfeather may win her heart, but with all the other Sentinels around bigger, flashier, and better-looking (in his opinion) than he, will Windfeather win out against the cruel mistress of fate in a battle waged inside his heart for the one he truly loves?

I can has eggu plottings?
Trying for: Wildtype
Prompt: See below. (I iz not a seekrit keeper with mah Featherfall)
Word count: 500 exactly!

The eggu will be named Featherfall. This fierce, determined little chick will be raised partly by her mother and father (a ranger and a scout) and partly by Minders when her parents don’t have the time they need to devote to her. She will grow up independent and perhaps a little bewildered as to who her real family is, and she will become demanding, learning to insist that things are given to her when she wants them, because if she doesn’t, she’ll simply be overlooked. As a fledgling, she’s actually a relatively late bloomer. She won’t fledge until after her agemates. She won’t learn as quickly at the outset. Yet she’ll be expected by her parents to grow into a combatant task. They won’t be cruel, they are just incapable of thinking she’d become anything else.

And with these expectations, Featherfall will struggle to fulfill them. It won’t be something out of some deep desire to please, it will just be doing what is expected of her. And she will do just that. Eventually, she will grow into herself. She will learn to fly. She will discover her own way of learning all the important things. Indeed, Featherfall will actually go beyond what is expected of her, rising to the top of her class with barely a month to Graduation. She will breifly become a Scout and spend time making a name for herself, her devotion to work, and her ever-improving skills, and then she will be recruited into the Elites.

As both Scout and Elite, she won’t mind spending the time alone; she’ll cherish the opportunities to see what Sentinels who live at home might never see. A barely-avoided scrape with a furious bobcat will bring her to see the benefits of studying the motions of other species, and she will become a tactically-minded, practical young corporal.

As a fledgling, Featherfall will be social but independent, preferring to do things on her own time, often to the point of seeming a bossy know-it-all. She likes her parents, but her relationship with them is distant. She likes her Minders, but she only sees them on occasion. She doesn’t seem to want friends, in the traditional sense, though she doesn’t dislike being social. She doesn’t select a specific Teacher, preferring to learn a little bit of everything from everyone, though eventually she will focus on learning as much about the combatant tasks as she can.

As for her adult personality, Featherfall is much the same as her parents. She doesn’t specifically demand or ask things of others, she simply has expectations that need to be met. And those expectations are high. She is well-spoken and surprisingly willing to chat, enjoying spending time among other Sentinels, especially non-combatants. The one thing she will have trouble with is young’uns. Featherfall doesn’t like babies. She tolerates them because she needs to, but she doesn’t seek them out. In fact, she avoids them.

Generally asexual, Feather’s expectations for a mate will be—unsurprisingly—extremely high.

I can has eggu plottings?
Trying for: Ghost
Prompt: My concept for this sentinel would be of that of a minder raised egg, raised in this manner due to her parents being too elderly to take care of her themselves. She shows a fascination from when she gains awareness of the world around her, with the feathers of others and herself, collecting them in bundles, treating them as a plaything and seeking out brightly coloured ones. Even once she fledges, the fascination would not pass and she would seek out keepers of all sorts of unusual birds and request any salvageable moulted feathers to keep in her little stash (a hollow in a tree that she guards fervently, cleaning and maintaining her store of feathers meticulously) her initial task would be that of a artisan, working solely in jewellery created from feathers (with the other pieces hopefully supplied from other specialist crafters) and the dyes utilised on drab feathers procured from apocotheries. Her aim would be to one day become a featherstyler, working in feathers alone in applying them to others but for the most part this would seem like a distant dream for her. She would only eventually make the leap to featherstyling when, after a hunt goes awry, she has a narrow escape gets a large number of her primary wing feathers in one wing trapped under a heavy branch and has to pull them free to erratically get back up to the treetops and struggle back to her tree. Her territory is rather far away from anywhere where she could get help and food while she recovered, and her flight is hampered, so she uses what materials she has to imp a set of primaries from her feather collection into her damaged wing, and using her rather odd looking set of feathers, to fly to help. They hold up long enough to get her there, and thereafter she decides to be a featherstyler reguardless of the scarcity of the profession, using her skills to tune up the intricate flight feathers of hunters if they are damaged, supplement vanity feathers for performers and to provide feathers to crafters who need them. Instead of adopting a symbol of her craft, like bells or necklaces, every moult, she imps an entire new set of feathers alongside her own wing feathers in a plethora of colours, as many as she can gather, from all the types of sentinel she can and uses her own wings as the symbol of her task. Personality wise, she is polite, determined and a hard worker, seemingly somewhat shy, but deeply enthused about her true calling in life.

I can has eggu plottings?
Trying for: Wildtype
Prompt: This would be my first Sentinel, so I feel that I’ll probably have to tweak my ideas as I learn and grow within the shop. I might not have the right words for everything yet or a complete understanding, so I’m sorry if this is beyond reason.

In complete honesty, I have RPed for several years, and have tried out and explored many personalities, but some are still harder for me than others, and with the closing of some shops, I’ve become more limited in the personalities I currently roleplay. With that said, I’d like to reach out for something different with this opportunity, and for me that means a more harsh personality.
What I plan on going for is a chick with big aspirations. He thinks big, dreams big, and plans to do big things; but the world doesn’t always work that way, and as he learns and grows, he becomes more disgruntled not only with the way things work, but with himself. His parents are as loving as could be, but he just cant help but feel that he’s nothing special, his common color, common birth, common everything leads him to strive for more. In his self doubt, he becomes angry and frustrated, feeling that he always falls short, even if no one is passing judgment on him. This leads him to lash out at others in his vexation, demanding respect and attention. Of course, this would put others off and he gets more spiteful and introverted as time goes on.

Even as he grows into a reputable Ranger, he still harbors this feeling of not quite being good enough to his own standards, and is outwardly a very irritable and dark bird. I want him to feel turmoil on the inside, contemplate why he thinks he’s better, or whether or not he truly is; self-doubt and then building up his ego in an entropic cycle.

As for a name, I’m not quite sure yet. I like the name Buckthorn, but someone else I know used it in another shop, and I want to be clear with her if it’s ok I use the name here.

I can has eggu plottings?
Trying for: Mist
Prompt: Cloudfeather has wanted to be a bard for as long as she can remember....

If I get this egg, it will be a female, struggling desperately to become a bard despite shortcomings. While she will believe with every bit of herself that she has the heart and soul of an entertainer, the truth is that her talent doesn't quite match her beliefs. She will wander far and wide, searching for just the right tale to share with the others, or just the right bit of music to sing to them, and failure is only likely to push her harder. I expect her to be a fairly cheerful girl, optimistic about what she can eventually accomplish no matter what she's told... and when all is said and done, she just might be right, for the only way to succeed is to keep trying despite failures.

Cloudfeather will be a happy-go-lucky sort, determined to succeed in her craft but in all other ways fairly laid back. She'll adapt to what life throws at her with seeming ease, mostly because what she doesn't understand sails right over her head. She won't shy away from decisions, but she wouldn't give them as much logical deduction as perhaps she should, which should lead to some interesting predicaments in her travels. She will talk too much, and with unreserved candor. She would be a friendly sort, eager to find companions (and audiences). She won't be particularly graceful, or particularly musical, but she will try hard.

I can has eggu plottings?
Trying for: Shadow
Prompt: This egg (we'll call her "Shadow" for now) was promptly abandoned right after being laid by her mother. She was laid on a pile of leaves on the ground. Seconds after her mother flew away, a Gatherer was flying overhead, surveying the damage of the forest from the storm that previous night, looking for sweet treasures that may have been uncovered. Something small, black and glinting caught his eye and he flew down to the forest floor to inspect it. Seeing that it was an egg of his own kind with no mother and, considering it was on the ground, he scooped it up into a pack he carried around his neck and kept it warm. He flew back to his clan and, after reporting his discovery, flew to the home of a Minder, who was his dear friend. The Minder was glad to receive the egg and began to dote on it immediately. Thus, Shadow is raised by an old Minder. The old Minder tells Shadow that she is her mother. Shadow believes her completely and never questions who her father was or how she came about into the world. Shadow is happy, sweet, and is very caring and giving to others. The Minder plans for Shadow to be a great Minder, teaching her everything she knows about the craft. After Shadow grows into a fit, young fledgling, full of knowledge about minding, the Minder who raised her passes away. Shadow is wraught with grief and is filled with a sense of abandonement. All her past feelings of caring for others and being happy vanish. Since she was so close to and sheltered by the Minder who raised her, she grows up doubting who she can trust in the world, doubting her place, and doubting herself. Now unsure of her once saught-after profession of Minder, she begins to grow interested in other Sentinels' skills, trying to find which one is truly meant for her. After growing into an adult, Shadow is still torn on what to do with the rest of her life. She struggles still to find her place in the world, doubting her every will and whim, and doubting her strong feelings to become a Minder. She is easily troubled by things but rarely voices her opinions, choosing to keep quiet and think things over to herself. She chooses the company of hatchlings and fledglings most of the time rather than of Sentinels her own age.

I can has eggu plottings?
Trying for: Mist (male)
Word count: 454
Prompt: Ever since he was born, the minders of the largest northern enclave couldn’t help but notice that something wasn’t quite right with that little mist. Abnormally quiet as a hatchling but owner of the most cunning eyes, he began to show an excessive interest for moving objects (and creatures) at a very early age. As his body grew, so did his eager, barely controllable drive. He will learn to fly a lot sooner than the other fledglings his age and as such will consider them all to be “little babies”, preferring the company of the older fledglings of the enclave.

I want him to be known as a bit of a bully, a fledgling that enjoy rough playing just a little too much. I see him as very physical, very in-your-face. The young Sentinel that gives a passing mus a sort of funny look, that seems to jump a little as a companion skitters past him and that uses all his will power not to chase after them. He will enjoy the sight of blood over his pure white feathers and will delay preening after a hunt until he is told off. His usually hidden aggressive nature will earn him a nasty scar over his left eye (two thin lines from an older fledgling’s talons). He will constantly try to measure up against everyone, adults included, easily giving in to bitterness at every loss but becoming a boisterous ball of bliss at every accomplished goal.

In the future, I want him to channel his fierceness to the hunter task that he will perform in the northern forest (some of the minders will find a proper teacher for him – maybe even bring him to another minders’ enclave to be taught by Highfog…). His intense gaze filled with cold intent won’t change but he will gain a quiet composure and a massive pride in becoming a contributing part of the combatant forces of Noctua. Even though he will refrain from eating companions in front of their owners, he will gladly eat a wayward critter that finds himself on his hunting grounds, no matter how brightly dyed the unfortunate companion is (he will be sensible enough not to bring it back with him to the redistribution platforms). He has been known, however, to ask the small animal’s function/task before making his decision of whether or not to eat it. (“I’m Leaf-Leaf’s friend” is not a smart answer…) He doesn’t judge Sentinels based on the color of their plumage but on how well they can hunt/fend for themselves. I see him as easily bored by social interactions and he will need to find a mate (of any type) who is as intense as him. As for names: Snowpeak…

I can has eggu plottings?
Trying for: Ghost
Prompt:
I plan for this egg to a male, though if comes down to it all, I would love to leave it to chance. The egg would hatch into it's little fluff form, and be surrounded by a nurturing family. He/She would not be denied their curiosity, and would be able to roam under the supervision of SummerJade and the others. As the chick continually grows, it wail finally make up it's mind on the task it would like. Perhaps a Gather, or maybe a Watcher... This remains up to it. Winter and Summer would pass by as quick as a breath, and then it would stand wit it's peers on Graduation Day, gaining it's merit as an adult among the Sentinels. It would choose it's job, and then it would fly off, enjoying the feeling of the wind beneath full-grown wings. What a nice view it would be when you would fly among the treetops with ever present grace. This Sentinel would fight for it's extended family, protecting everything it cared for, and more. And as time passed, there would grow a yearning for company, for someone to cherish. It would be the time of mates and love. Would this one find a suitable mate that would love she/he as greatly as it would. Certainly.

Life would a merry thing after that, for then it would have someone to fly with, and enjoy an evening with. Little ones would be brought into the world, and their family would grow. Chicks would grow into adolescents, and then into an adult themselves, flying away from the nest to join the society in which they belonged. One by one, the nest would grow empty. Time would pass again, and the once little one would sit in the nest with it's mate, enjoying the sight of their offspring in the ranks of the Sentinels. It would be an old, wise owl, giving lessons to little fledglings on the world and the dangers that it had. Life would pass by, and so would the Owls. For life is not everlasting. It would be remembered for it's thriving laughter, and twinkling eyes.

I can has eggu plottings?
Trying for: Deep Woods
Prompt: I would love to tell you all about what a wonder this little female Sentinel would be. I would love to tell you of how she thrived under the tutelage of once-hunters and medic-teachers. How her robust childhood bred in her a love of Noctua any parent would be proud of, and how her own loving family was just that. How her elder brother early chose his task, leading her to find her own through subtle hinting and whispered stories of glory found on the wing of the scout. From her youthful exposure to the bardic lore of the land, to an early fascination of herbs and nature that gatherers and apothecaries alike cherished, there is much indeed I would tell.
I would deign to tell you how she grew, svelte and light of wing. How as a fledgling she went her way through the forest, meeting many reputable folk of every employment imaginable. Should time permit, I would grace your ears and eyes with the fated tale of her true love once found, though separated by space and chosen tasks. I would delve headlong into their tale of warmth, wickedness, woe, and wist.
I long to tell of how her choices wove for her a tapestry of a life’s tale, rife with joy and sorrow, sweet pleasures and uplifting defeats. I yearn to wind such a tale, to grace Noctua with the legend of Snaptwig, the altruistic medic, who flew through wind, sleet, snow, and hale to do her duty for the clan.

*Unfortunately, I cannot tell you this story. You see, Snaptwig as a hatchling sat on a twig, which, leading to her namesake, snapped. Unable to fly, she obviously fell. Receiving a blow to the head, she was summarily disorientated, and rendered unconscious. Hidden by the bush, her family was unable to find her. The following day, she was discovered by a renegade band of parus, a conglomeration of several flocks that had gotten lost from their keeper. They took in the little hatchling, stuffing her with seeds and grubs. When the keepers did find the runaway birds, they found Snap as well. Alas, her family, distraught with their loss, had left the area, wishing to forget their fallen female babe. Unable to support the hatchling, Snap was first passed to the minders, and then eventually to a troop of bards, who wanted a child without having to la one themselves. Mainly because they were an all-male group, two mated pairs, and thus incapable. Raised in such an unusual environ, she has grown up unusual, and continues this in her adulthood. She has inked over her chest dots to deny her gender. She refuses to ever take a mate. She refuses to do anything except act and sing all day. AND she refuses to eat anything except seeds and berries. Veggie-sentinel, all the way.
Word count: 477

*Alternate ending: Unfortunately, I cannot tell you this story. One day while her parents were out searching for food, a snake found the hollow hatchling-Snap was sleeping in, and ate her. A pity.

I can has eggu plottings?
Trying for: Shadow (female)
Prompt:
I plan for the young Shadow girl to be a horrid insomniac. Much to the chagrin of her parents and Teachers, she likes to stay up insanely late, late enough to watch the sunrise trickle down through the treetops. While this would originally be the product of horrid nightmares plaguing her during the night, eventually she would learn to love the strange peace and quiet of the morning world. Ultimately, this love of the sunrise would lead to an odd career in hunting, for while she has that annoying tendency to sleep in all night and miss the best of the nocturnal creatures, the early bird that gets the worm often falls prey to the late-night bird! Her diurnal tendencies would sort of alienate her from her peers; however, her tales of the sunrise should serve as interesting inspiration for Bards and Artisans!

I can has eggu plottings?
Trying for: Mist
Prompt:

The Myth: This egg holds a very serious Sentinel. Even as a hatchling he was always watching with narrowed eyes. Learning to talk opened up a whole new host of problems. This fledgling was very sharp, learned quickly, and understood everything. Then he would challenge it all. He had no problems debating teachers until their feathers fell out. Yes, he was THAT FLEDGLING.

The smartass.

The Male: He quickly came to understand that very few people could challenge his intellect. Talking to his peers and even his teachers often fell short of interesting. Once the discussion really got started and he could get heated and into it, everyone would back down or prove to be a total Mus-brain. He wholeheartedly believed that this complete lack of intelligence was an insult to all Sentinel-kind. So he took it upon himself to n** the problem in the bud. Therefore he shocked and appalled everyone on Graduation Day when he stood up and shouted, “Minder!”

The Legend: Do not fear for your tiny hatchlings just yet. After a season or two, some of his fellow minders came to him to speak about his choice in professions. Luckily, they were a crafty bunch and knew just how to manipulate him. They said that they believed that his teachings were being wasted on students so young. He thought about it, his eyes narrowed in his usual glare. He then agreed, for the first time in his life without a fight. He would instead become a teacher. “These minds are too small to hold the information I must impart onto them. I must go to older students, worthy students, seekers of knowledge!”

So he moved his current charges to another minder (unknowingly fulfilling the tiny Sentinels’ wildest dreams) and became a History teacher. He challenges his students with near-impossible work, waiting for that “worthy student” to come to his lectures and show himself. He could then take that student under his wing and show that fledgling how to run mental rings around the others, put that mind to good use, and make him proud. His prodigy...someday...

I can has eggu plottings?
Trying for: Deep Woods
Prompt:
Farlore was just an egg, taken to the Minders to care for since his mother felt that it would be best for him, when later on the old tree his mother was in crashed to the forest floor. Search parties could find no more than a few feathers, and presumed her dead. I plan for him to be somewhat bitter at hearing that news, even though all he had known was being under Minder care.

As a fledgling he would stay huddled up at the back or a corner of a hollow, paranoid. He liked living thank you very much! Yet he also realizes later on how precious life is, yet it's greatly fragile. The way he lost his mother led him to these conclusions, that life could just get up and fly away for apparently no reason at all. Besides being somewhat paranoid, he goes and questions his Minders. He seems to want explanations for everything. Why did she die? Why do the leaves fall? Why are we here? This was quite deep thinking for a fledgling others thought.

Due to his quest for the world's answers, he would become a Teacher, teaching little ones to cherish life and live it to it's fullest, despite teaching them the basics. When classes were over he would go out exploring for more answers, almost scouting, but that sort of work too impersonal for him. He'd have all sorts of fun misadventures as he searches for answers others ignore, and probably meet all sorts of Sentinels as he does so. He grows from being a paranoid chick, to practicing what he preaches, to enjoy life and not be afraid to do what he wants. And he wants answers.

Because of his exposure to the world and beyond, he's developed quite the cocky attitude, but is still wonderful at heart. He'd love to take older fledglings out on simple, fun, and educational 'field trips.' Real world experience is the key! Of course, he'd be well prepared before hand, to make sure to choose the best routes and make the adventure most fulfilling. Only fledglings most able to fly and strong of will (if not Will) need apply.

I can has eggu plottings?
Trying for: Shadow
Prompt:

The future of this little egg? Initially she will be raised by her parents, who plan to devote themselves to creating the perfect home for their darling first chick – but oddly enough, more and more of the time as she grows she’ll somehow end up being handed off to hapless Minders to take care of while her parents are “busy.” Perhaps it has something to do with the way she has of staring at Sentinels for far longer than comfortable, unblinking and unspeaking. Or perhaps it is the way the taciturn little fledgling will suddenly come out with something weirdly cryptic at the most inopportune moment. Or maybe just the secretive little smile she gets when nobody else seems to be looking… She will become a Watcher by choice, preferring to keep to herself but also to observe, and those big eyes see just about everything. Most Sentinels will find her extremely uncomfortable to be around, and even her parents would prefer to forget she exists. But she loves riddles above all else and is often seen hanging near the back of a group listening to bards, humming softly to herself and smiling at a particularly clever wordplay. In fact, just about the only time she shows any sign of excitement is on the rare occasion when she is able to talk to one that she admires.

I have this idea of her eventually working together with some of the bards to create a sort of riddle hunt as a part of another festival, which I think would be a lot of fun to design and plot – but it is just an idea, and depends on whether or not that would work comfortably with everything else going on.
