[[ If this is in the wrong subforum, I'm sorry! ]]
I've browsed around this guild and have seen many Munnies [I guess that would be how you spell the plural form] that have been personalized. I think that they are adorable and I want to buy one. But, before I do, I was wondering if people who have had experience with Munnies could answer a few questions for me? I would appreciate it. biggrin
1) Is the material sort of like a clay, where you can mold it? I understand that it is soft vinyl, but I am not familiar with this material.
2) Would you use acrylic paint to paint a Munny? And, do you have to use any specific markers or crayons to draw on it?
3) What type of clay will stick to a Munny?
4) Is it worth the money?
Thanks in advance! 3nodding
Oh, and I would love to see your Munnies, too!

Hallo. Here are some answers to your questions!
1. The vinyl is the same texture as a hard plastic. You can't mold it, but you can cut into it and add materials to it such as clay or resin putty to sculpt over it.
2. You can paint on it with acrylic, you could also use alcohol based markers (like copics, prismacolor, or sharpies)
3. Pretty much anything will stick to it. Most people use sculpy or other polymer clay, because you bake it at such a low temperature that the vinyl can withstand the oven. In my opinion this is the best choice. If you don't want to bake, you can use a resin putty like "gray stuff", "green stuff", or "mighty putty" These cure on their own (once you mix them with hardener) but you have to work fairly quickly when using these mediums. Paper based clays like Paperclay or Celluclay will adhere and air dry, but it would be best to pull them off and glue them back on once dry. The only materials I wouldn't recommend would be Crayola Model Magic (it just doesn't sculpt well over the vinyl) and regular air-dry red or green clay.
4. Well, I'm a little biased but I'd say they're definitely worth the money. The 4" mini munny costs about 10 bucks and the possibilities are endless. I will caution that they are fairly addictive though. Before ordering one online, you should visit the Kid Robot website and see if there's a retailer near you who carries them, it would be less expensive than worrying about shipping that costs half as much as the item you're buying.
Hope this was useful. If you're interested you can view the first one that I made, posted somewhere in the Clay sculpture subforum. Good luck and have fun!!
