The Ghastly Pink Triangle

A young yellow dragon sits in an open cave licking her feet. She is relaxing knowing that she will not be bothered for a little while. As she finished her cleaning she rolls over on her back and stares at the large crags hanging from the ceiling. {Oh I think I will hunt in a while. Such a nice day.}

The pale green dragon lay in a small crevasse, one he'd come to since he was a bit younger, but had long since outgrown it's comfort. He usually just went back out of habit, laid down, realized how uncomfortable such a place was, and proceeded to find a larger and more cave-like cave, or at least a bigger crack to hide in. Onesiphoros pulled himself up off the ground, and then wedged himself out the smaller opening, nearly getting stuck any number of times. Bad habits were the hardest to break.
When he was so close to being out of the cave was when he started to get a wee bit irritated with... something, be it the cave, or his habit of hiding in it. As a result, he yanked himself out, which resulted in a spiral-patterned dragon tumbling down the hill that had awaited him patiently. His rolling ceased when the ground leveled just before the river, and had been only about five feet from having rolled him right into the water. Well, it wasn't as though he would have minded much after a moment. It would just be a bit of a shock to the senses.

Janine lifted herself up and walked to the mouth of her cave. {I guess I can go now. Bring a little deer back to the ca-} She stopped in mid sentence. {I don't want deer! I want fish!}
She began a slow walk down to the river that lied a little down the hill. As she got closer she sped up a little, not being able to really control her speed. {OH my!}

Lifting himself off the ground, Onesiphoros blinked in a futile attempt to reduce the spinning that his head was still experiencing. Rather, he shook his head to either side, the crest of black fur swaying a bit. When he was finally able to stand without wobbling, he took the last few steps to the river and, front foot first, slipped into the water.
After a brief, energy-spending moment that involved repeated diving under the water and chasing fish for recreation rather than food a moment, the teen finally set his mind to actually getting something to eat. Now, poised and ready above a rather juicy looking meal, things would have went along a lot smoother had there not been the rather distracting noise of yet another animal pelting down the hill. Just as he dove after the fish, Onesiphoros' eye was caught by a flash of yellow, a brief glimpse of another dragon, and an eye full of riverbed. Biting down on whatever he felt writhing in his mouth, he reeled back up, tasting the item. A moment later, he felt his tail curl underneath his body, and an odd feeling of embarrassment overwhelm him bit-by-bit when he realized he'd caught...
A stick.

The running was nearly over now. She was about 50 feet till she was at the river. The river was a shimmering blue and had ripples that were more than likely caused by another animal or a large fish. Janine hit the bank of the river and was launched into the middle of it.
There was a large splash of water and Janine rose from the river with a fish in her mouth. She was now looking face to face with another dragon. She spoke with her mouth full. {Hewo.}

Onesiphoros would admit that he'd been startled by the sudden spash, backpedaling from his counterpart with wide eyes. She came up a moment later, the fish he'd been trying to capture within her own mouth, still wriggling just a tad, if only nerve spasms. The greeting had his tail tipping up once more, and he started to speak. {He-}
It was in this moment that he remembered he had his fangs dug into a stick from the bottom of the river rather than a fish. He crossed his eyes for a glimpse of it, as though to make sure it really wasn't a fish, before he spit it back into the river, glancing sheepishly back at the other dragon. {Hello.}

Janine watched as the dragon reacted to her landing. She found it entertaining that the dragon had caught a stick. She swallowed the fish in one swift motion of her leaning head.
{Where do you come from? I haven't seen you around here before}
She was now walking back to the banking and shaking the water out of her mane.

The male dragon was distracted in a moment by the shimmer of silvery scales, just beneath the surface. Without a distraction this time, he pounced, grabbing the fish between sharp teeth before breaking the surface of the water. Satisfied with his catch, though it was a rather small fish, he tossed it skyward, swallowing it as soon as it landed in his open mouth.
{Me?} he questioned curiously, following behind her now that he'd had something to eat. He shook himself down from head to tail, making sure to keep a reasonable distance from the other dragon, trying to avoid getting more water on her while she was trying to dry off. {I'm from the foothills on the opposite bank. I've been living in a little cavern in a rock crevice up there. 'Course it's been getting a little cramped lately...} he noted, taking a seat next to the dragon.
{What about you? I don't think I've ever seen you before.}

Janine was now dried off and lying down in the grass that was surrounding the river bank. {I stay right up this hill in a somewhat spacious cave.} She looked toward her home. She could just see the tip of the what was either the top of it or the crag of rock that jutted out she sometimes hit her head on when she was careless.

Onesiphoros followed her gaze, barely spotting the bit of detailing that could, in fact, be her home. Sharpening his gaze, he tried to make out exactly what it was he was seeing, but gave up when he was unable to. Rather, he let the front part of his body down, resting his head on crossed legs. The tip of his tail flipped side-to-side, happy that he'd found someone to speak with, rather than hiding in the little cracks of rock he found.
{Oh! Pardon my manners.} he said rather suddenly, lifting his head from the grassy riverbank. {My name is Onesiphoros. Might I know your's?} he questioned, pushing himself to a sitting position, tilting his head in a slight bow to the female.

Janine accepted the bow and tilted her head a little too. {I go by Janine.} She picked herself up off the ground and began walking around Onesiphoros. {As for your manners...they are quite fine.}
The water in the stream was now undisturbed. It was so clear and beautiful. Janine walked over and started drinking the running water, admiring herself in the running water.

{Thanks for the compliment,} One' replied, eyes following the dragon as she walked around him, before he stood to his own four feet, following her to the stream. He took a drink of water, observing the ripples as they spread through the water, before fading back to the smoothness of the river's natural surface. He glanced to the side, watching Janine's reflection as the ripples warped that as well, before clearing up once more. From that, he looked up at the other dragon for a moment, but made himself look away when he realized he'd been staring.
So, rather, he went back to watching the pool of water in front of him, tail swaying back and forth behind him. A shimmer of fish scales caught his eye, and he snatched a small fish out of the water, dropping it to the ground at his paws. He caught it between one front foot and the grassy bank, watching it wriggle, in a way more reminiscent of naivety and easy entertainment than torture.

Janine watched as the dragon looked at her in the reflection of the water. She herself was taking an occasional look at him. When he caught the second fish and just watched it rather than eat it she sat down in confusion.
{Why do you not eat? Is it really that fun to just play with it?} She had never played with her food. When she caught it she would eat it immediately.

Onesiphoros grinned at the fish, before letting it free, causing it to jump off the ground. It didn't land back in the water, but, rather, jumped away from it. One' pounced after it, pinning it each time, until Janine questioned his choice of actions. He glanced over at her, before grabbing the fish and swallowing it whole.
{I dun'no,} he replied, walking back over to sit beside her, watching her more than the river this time. {I like playing with them. But I usually lose my food that way,} he commented, tipping his head. He glanced away, lapping up a bit of the water from the stream.

Janine watched as the fish jumped around and as it was eaten. {I don't play with my food for the same reason, I lose it.} She watched drink from the water as she sat back in the grass. She was ready to go back to her cave, she had done what she had came down to the river for.
{Well...I think I might head back to my cave.} She got up and started walk a little bit. {You are welcome to come if you wish.}
