All 12 of the eggs that had been taken from the Shining Heights Hatching Grounds lie here, undisturbed, protected now by Alokith. No one is allowed here to peek at them, except Alokith's Keli, of course, who often comes here to just stare at them, one of her secretive smiles spread across her face.

Egg 1: Swamp of Hidden Wealth Egg
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
This egg seems to sparkle somewhere beneath all of the muddy grime that one might first percieve. Any candidate who says, "How ugly. It looks like a swamp," and walks away might miss this elusive glimmer, but to the candidate who watches for longer, they might see a hint of gold glinting beneath the ooze, perhaps? A candidate reaching out their fingers to run their hands over this surcafe might at first expect to pull their hand back and find it covered in moss and dirty mud, but many candidates will recieve a shock when they realize that this eggshell is just as smooth as the others. Is that glinting beneath the surface really gold? Perhaps its the eyes of a predator, watching you. Eyes that glitter malevolently, as if gloating that *it* knows a secret that you don't... perhaps you'd better walk away from this egg, before you succumb to the stare of that hidden predator...

Egg 2: Stormy Dusk Egg
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
A casual onlooker might think that this egg is a beautiful egg, with bright, innocent hues. It's beautiful, but not as inocent as one might think. The underlying lavender color looks like the color of the sky when dusk is just beginning to fall; pale and pretty, waiting patiently for the stars to emerge along the horizon. But violent slashes of aquamarine and green-blue have seeped across the firmament when Dusk wasn't looking. As if a storm washing ashore, that sea-green and verdant color seems to be trying to block out the innocence of dusk. In the areas that are open but completely surrounded by the storm, Dusk, beneath, has faded to a darker color... as if she's lost all will to fight. Both of these colors, the storm and Dusk, are shining brilliantly at anyone observing this silent skirmish. A candidate's eyes might sting after staring at this egg too long. But who will win when the dragonet breaks free?

Egg 3: Egg of Stained Glass Shadows
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
This egg seems pleasantly cool, as if it had been lying in the shade. Any candidate running his or her hand over this smooth shell might begin to dream of a favorite fantasy of Impressing a Queen dragonet and becoming the Jr Weyrwoman, or finding themselves with a King bondmate, leading a wing. However, this egg also appeals to the shy candidates, the ones simply wishing to fight that ancient nemesis, Thread. What might this egg contain? A green? A shadow? A scarlet, bronze, orange? Maybe a queen? The egg, rippling with wonderful hues of every shade, seems to mellow out along the base, becoming darker, as if the colors are blending together. It seems to be a comforting darkness, however, because those rainbow hues shine dully in the background, as if prepared to jump closer to the surface and continue the bright display once more.

Egg 4: Echoing Dreams Egg
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
This egg has a band of white across it, the only thing interrupting the plain but pretty background of sky blue. The whole egg seems faintly metallic, as if rubbed in silver. The egg seems to lift one's spirits and make them soar. Surely such a pretty egg *must* contain a beautiful dragonet! Many candidates are anxiously awaiting the hatching of this egg, convinced that the dragonet inside will surely be theirs, their wonderful, beautiful dragonet. In fact, if you squint your eyes and look at it in just the right way, the white flurry on the eggshell seems just like a dragon silhouetted against the sky, wings spread...

Egg 8: Burn, Burn, Egg
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
This egg is certainly an egg capable of making the meekest candidates tremble in fear as they watch its fiery shell. Many a watcher may think it strange that the shell doesn't simply melt and slide right off of the dragon. Then again, many of the watchers would love that, just to know what color rests within the egg. As if sensing everyone's anxiety, this egg smolders slowly, quietly. Biding its time? Perhaps. It isn't as attention-getting as some of the other eggs, but it is quite attention-getting in its own right, with the red, sullen fire dancing across it. Many of the candidates feel intensely nervous about this egg, and stay away. But is this a good choice? Perhaps, without that much attention, it can put into plan a devious intention of its own. Only time will tell.

Egg 10: Amber Cola Egg
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
This egg couldn't be happier. The world is a wonderful place, the Amber Cola Egg declares. Go have fun! Live a little! This egg truly does seem as bubbly as it appears. For that is what the egg looks like: A giant piece of tree sap, with bubbles in it. A few furtive candidates might try and taste it– on second thought, they wouldn't dare, not with Amarith watching them so closely! As they run their hands along the shell, some privately think it looks like the shell is an empty recepticle, filled with some bubbling, amber-hued drink. No, not a chance... the dragonet inside seems to be giggling at what you think. Or perhaps it was your imagination, and this delighted egg playing a trick on you.

Egg 11: Curtain of Concealment Egg
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
The surface of this egg seems to ripple beneath a candidate's fingers. It is naturally a pale cream color. One will never quite know for sure, however, because the surface is covered in tucks and folds, as if the smooth cream surface was just a curtain fluttering in the wind. Or, perhaps its trying to hide something.... the dragonet within, one would first think, but looking closer, they might see images start to leap out at them. It looks like a rabbit jumping headfirst at them! And over here is a face with a long nose... Staring at this egg and wondering what its hiding can make your mind play tricks on you and have you see things you hadn't seen before. Or maybe the surface really *is* rippling, always changing... but now that you watch it, it doesn't seem to change much. That's odd...

Egg 15: Egg of Caravaner's Music
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
This egg is a whole, warm black color, but cutting through the ebony surface is a few horizontal windows that circle the egg, letting the viewer look inside to see... a swirl of breathtaking color and beauty, one would first expect with delight, but looking closer, one might begin to make out many fanciful Caravaners whirling around, banging the tambourine and swaying seductively to the music. Each color is a scarf, the clothing that these enticing women are wearing. Why would an egg give a whit about any Caravaner? Perhaps its merely trying to present its love for music. If that is so, than this egg is certainly quite the musical one.

Egg 17: It's A Cold, Cruel World Egg
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
This egg sits a little apart from the others, looking a little bit lonely... the surface seems almost watery. Is that eggshell really dry? As a candidate touches it, they might feel slightly nervous at first. What if the shell really is as thin as it looks, and flimsy? What if their touch breaks it, sending water everywhere? However, this egg is hard as a rock, or so it would seem. The shell seems slightly brittle, as if this egg put up a cold, hard shell against the realities of life. Yes, it's harsh, but it's a harsh world. If that's all an egg has to protect itself, it had better be well-protected. So this egg sits in cold determination, behind a solid shell, a wall of defense to protect itself from any attacks upon it. But, little egg, you might be blocking out the bad things in life, but how is any good going to get in, either?

Egg 18: Blinding Lightening Egg
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
This egg may cause a few candidates to blink a few times as their eyes fall onto it. It's very bright, a silvery-platinum color that will leave marks on anybody's vision when they look away. Running through this egg are ribbons of lightening, like the opposite sides of this egg are filled with opposite charges and it needs to be neutralized. If the egg is a giant thundercloud and the black tendrils are lightening, than there's a big storm of the way when this egg hatches.

Egg 20: Bloody Battlefield Egg
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
This egg is a wonderful green of the fields. It would be a nice day to take a stroll... what's this? Are these drops of copper and crimson? It seems as if this field isn't as beautiful as you thought... drops of blood cover the whole thing. Was there a battle here recently? There's certainly been blood spilled here. It even *smells* like blood around this egg, if you smell closely. Or maybe it's just your imagination... At any rate, you wouldn't want to get caught in any crossfire for lingering too long at this egg.

Egg 23: Rainbow Streaks Egg
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
This egg is predominantly a pale silvery color, which may make some think of a regal color it contains. After the cursory glance is done, however, they may begin to see that it is merely a background for a more colorful landscape. Ribbons of red and pink hues flash across this egg, like Threadfall, or streaks of... blood? No, this egg seems much too gay for that. It is rather more a party, with streamers being thrown in the air to celebrate. Each of these streaks is twisted slightly, as if uncurling. Rippling across what would be the outer layer are small hints of tints ranging from cyan to violet. Yes, this rainbow egg seems too cheery to think of the negative things in life. What a wonderful way to live!

Egg 24: Tarnished Metal Egg
User Image - Blocked by "Display Image" Settings. Click to show.
When a candidate first reaches out to touch it, they will notice that this egg seems cooler than the other eggs. Despite Amarith's constant care and the heat of the hatching sands, it is naturally a few shades cooler than any other egg that has been touched so far. It is tempting to lay one's cheek on the egg and begin whispering words to this egg, which seems to comfort the talker in a strange sort of way. Yes, this egg listens, and never talks back. That is how the egg provides the comfort: Merely by listening. But will this egg use all of the candidates' words against them? One day, will the candidates be rebuked for pouring out their hearts? Surely not; just because this egg seems cold doesn't make it an icy dragonet inside, does it?

Logan walked out onto the Grounds and took a spot off to the side. It hadn't taken him long to get changed, for his candidate robes were still out. He sighed, looking on at the eggs. He wasn't sure if he'd Impress, but it was worth a shot.

Shard soon appeared, pristine in her white candidates robe, the color matching with the odd streak of white in her hair. She was dragging Laylana by her hand, who was also dressed in her robes. "See! I told you! They are hatching!" Shard told Laylana, sounding as if proving her point to some arguement.

Lana rolled her eyes and gave an annoyed sigh. "Fine, you were right." As they came to a stop before the eggs, she pulled her arm from Shard's grip. "I can walk myself now, thanks."

Logan watched the two girls argue as they came in and laughed.

Shard grinned, letting go of Laylana's arm. But it turned intoa scowl as she heard laughter. But then her face became curiously blank, her deep blue eyes harder than stone. She'd been around Lana too long if she was grinning and scowling.

Two eggs began to shake and rattle, number four and number ten, leaving everyone in suspense as to what the colors were. The first to hatch was number four, spilling out a healthy Brnze. He was small for a Bronze, and his hide was almost the shade of a Gold. But the light bronzen color was uniform throughout his hide, not marred by any other color.

The second egg, number 10, hatched a Green, who fell out with a sqwauk of protest, landing on th hit sands. She was small Green, but was a pretty light mint green near her front which darkened to a darker mint shade the farther back you moved.

Mid-afternoon, close to evening. 'Twas Tonar's Calligraphy assignment to practice his writing, and the prefect subject for /that/ was how thankful he as a candidate was that three dragons had risked their life for /him/ to have a chance to Impress. Tonar had even begun to write neatly about the brutalities the idiotic riders of Shining Heights had dealt their brave Rebel representatives when a soft noise made him look up. A wonderfully pliable female candidate was sitting there with her half-finished embroidery in hand. A flash of recognition sparked through Tonar's mind. This was the little tramp he had arrived at the Rebel Base with! The searchdragon had wanted to drop both candidates off at once, and so he had ridden with her. Sneaky little temptress, this one was. Tonar gave her a half-smile before trying to concentrate on his work. His thin, dark brown ponytail felt heavy on his back as he hunched over his tablet. Maybe he should cut his hair... immersed in thought, he unconsciously glanced back at the female candidate, who had her eyes coyly batting in his direction. He shifted slightly so that he could watch her more easily. She was a tasty little treat, and he wouldn't mind spending some quality time with her if not for the fact that the healers had specifically forbidden intercourse as of late, due to the fact that Keli had told them of her plans with the clutch and that no standing candidate was allowed to be pregnant when a clutch approached.

He blinked his hazel eyes at her, torn between looking at her legs or her face. He didn't have to decide when, a moment later, a great bugle hit his ears and then an intense humming followed, building even as he rose and exclaimed, "Robe!" He had to get his candidate's robe. He grabbed his writing leaflet and carbon stick and began sprinting, where he was joined by the female candidate. He tried to keep his eyes off of her soft form as he tore into the Rooms and headed for his own.

Once there, he tossed his things on his cot and haphazardly dressed. Within less than a minute he was fully assembled and sprinting back to the Sands, his dark ponytail whipping through the air behind him. He pulled to a halt, panting, in front of the eggs, and quietly slipped into the semicircle of boys. It seemed that he had beaten that vixen, that female candidate, to the Sands.

Laylana inhaled sharply, staring first at the bronze, but her eyes immediately going to the green and stayed there, admiring the grace and color of the tiny beauty. If her dragon was anything as beautiful as these first two, they would be a pair to be envied.

When the Golds bugle erupted through the silence, S'vith shuddered and gritted his teeth. He didn't want to watch the eggs, the eggs that almost costed his very life, hatch and bring pleasure to Keli. If he didn't attend then surely she'd realize that something mysterious was at work. Pivoting back towards the ground, S'vith began trailing down the stone stairways as the sands gradually came into view.

Out of the thirteen eggs that had been plundered from Amirath, two dragonets had already hatched and began pacing round the sands in search for their destined rider. The young bronze, healty in appearance but a bit small, caught his attention instantly. His hide was close to that of a Golds but its radiant color was uniform throughout all of his hide. He was quite the dragon. The green was marred with a light mint hue, gradually darkening down its hide. Surely she'd be a treasure for any young girl to Impress.

Though he still was furious with the whole operation, looking upon the dragonets did soften his current mood and brought somewhat of a smile to his face.

Azeroth always loved watching the young draclings break free of their captive hold but he too did not want to catch sight of Akolith nor the Weyrwoman. Still, it was futile to withold his desire to watch the Hatching.

Staggering to arise Azeroth tucked his back left leg close to him, lifting it off the ground where as no weight could be placed upon it, and began to hobble towards the grounds. Just as he paced several steps, the shadow plummeted towards the ground as he had not the strength to journey such a distance. He rumbled and drew his head upon the coarse grass, sighing as he could not watch the Hatching unfold.

Whole the Bronze was still looking around, another egg chose to hatch, number eleven. A beautiful Orange erupted from his shell, looking around. But instead of looking for his rider, the Orange instead began to follow the Bronze, then tackled him, the two beginning to wrestle in a playful manner. Why Impress when you can have fun?!

While those two were having their fun, another egg started to shake, splaitting straight down the middle and allowing a hatchling to scramble out with a hide of milky red. It was a Scarlet-White, it seemed. She spread her wings to dry, and blood red and ivory white splotches could be found, syanding out against the background of milky red.
