Brutus the Dehumanized

Tobias sat in a library one evening. Although the man was insane he still enjoyed to read. He was reading the history of Dredental and the previous battle waged over land and legend alike. While flipping through the volumes of books that lined the walls of the building he stumbled upon something intresting. There was a legend of a series of stones made to expand one's mind through magic. There were 7 in all, and they were all simply myths.
"Perhaps I should look into this... yessss... yes yes yes... that would be smart."
He slammed shut the hand-sized book in his hand, it's binding holding it firm. He then shoved it into his belt, it's black cover blending in with his cloak.
"I will read more about this topic... but first I think I should pay an old friend a visit."
((just for refrence, this is what Tobias looks like))

Tobias walked outside of the large library doors and into the city where he lived. It was the city of Cabal, a place where many like him were exiled. Anyone who was deemed "unworty" or "incappable" of living in an "average society" was dumped and left to figure things out. There was no government, no orginization, just a town full of the insane. They all seemed to get a long fine though, and odly enough there wasnt much violence. The library from which he had just left was a gift from a neighboring city to the east. It contained little outside of the occult and grim, but nobody really minded. Tobias was friends with a few individuals in high places, and they owed him a few favors. He figured his best move would be to get out of the city. Although he had friends here, he also had enemies who sought intrest in all he did. If he was to be rid of these stalkers he would have to firecly guard the book now on his person and make sure to speak any crucial information through smoke, which was a way of speaking between the insane.
Tobias walked for minutes in the empty streets of the city. He was surprised it was even considered a city, it was after all fairly barren. The few who lived here shared thier homes and belongins with eachother, seeing as nobody else would. A few more minutes of walking resulted in a large building appearing before him. The black building which was sagging slightly to the right and falling apart was the home of his friend Ralph. He entered the house and looked around.
"Hey Ralphy boy... you home?"
Searching some more, Tobias crept through the house and searched every room. The last room he visited, Ralph's bedroom held a grim sene. Ralph swung from a noose that was tied to the cieling rafters and had began to decay. The stench was horrible and flies had begun to eat away at the corpse. Tobias giggled.
"Oh Ralph, you son of a b***h. Oh well, no use in letting all that precious life essence go to waste."
Tobias summoned his chain, and opened his palm up toward the cieling. The chain wrapped around Ralph's body, growing as needed in order to wrap around his whole body in a cacoon. A purple stream flowed into the gaps in the links of the chain and into Tobais' palm. The purple energy formed into a ball and grew as more poured into it. After a few moments the stream stopped and tobias closed his palm, the ball of energy hissing as it entered his body. With a snap of his fingers the cacoon shattered and the links all set ablaze on the floor, burning away into nothing in a puff of black smoke. The truely dead corpse had stopped swinging and it's facial expression was sad.
"Now now, you should have seen this comming my old friend."
He turned to leave when he spotted a book and some paper on Ralph's bed. With a small laugh he approached it and picked the papers up and read them. He read them to himself and laughed again.
"A suicide note, how quaint. At least he says here that I can take whatever I want. I was the only one who ever cared about him anyway."
Next he examined the book which was actualy a book full of naked pictures of girls. Tobias lifted his goggles up and placed them on his forehead. This was one of those rare moments where his whole face was visible. His eyes were grey and bloodshot, he was never sure why. He looked at the book, thumbing through the pictures and then looked around the room. He whistled slightly and then found a patch on his belt for the book.
He scowered the rest of the room for anything useful, finding only some gold in a pillow case, a ring made of silver and a necklace with a small creature's skull for a pendant. He took the trinkets and exsited the house, looking around the street to decide what he should do next. Resting his hands on his hips he thought to himself and tryed to figure out what his next step should be.

The book contained some vague mention of a location to the north of Cabal. It was unclear what exactly was there, thought based on the books mention of various mana stone artifacts, perhaps it was referring to one of those? The location was at the northern part of Dredental, close to a sea shore with some vegetation.

Description of location: Broken Ruins

Among the various trees lay ruins of a small town. Stone walls, or their remains, left alone without inhabitants. Various symbols were strewn upon the walls describing thing no one really understood. The ruins took no more then one hundred square feet, nothing beyond that remained. Some say that there are still people, or maybe ghosts from the past that reside at this place, no one really knows or cares what exactly is here.

The book mentioned a place far to the north, and such a journey would be difficult to go through alone... he would need a companion... or maybe two to aide him in his quest.
"Yessss.....yes.... yess..... I should find someone who can help me.... maybe a woman... yes... a woman would be nice.....I'd settle for a guy though, he'd have to be strong though.... yesss, so very strong. Someone's gotta dot he heavy lifting.... and that ISNT GOING TO BE ME!"
He laughed to himself and strapped his goggles back on his face.
"TO THE BAR!"

Tobias looked behind him to see the people who decided to aide him on his quest.
"I have a short memory..... WHO THE HELL ARE YOU PEOPLE!?"

Contrath smirked, he had successfully retrieved the signature from one of the members and was currently leaning back on his hands while riding the summoned beast. He head turned towards the deranged man shouting at him before he finally voiced a reply. "The name's Contrath. Now it's my turn, who are you and what's this I hear about stones?"

He chuckled to himself.
"Tobias is the name, and summoning is my game! I'm looking for a certain... treasure, and if you're willing to aide me then perhaps you will benefit from it as well."
He then looked in the distance to see where they were going. They had covered a lot of distance in the short amount of time, but it would still be a few hours until they reached Cabal. After that they could rest up and set out for the ruins far to the north. They wouldnt have the luxury of swift travel by Nightmare though... oh well. With a brief shrug to himself, Tobias retrieved the book he borrowed from the library and began to look through it again. After a few moments he frowned and put it backm only to retrieve the other book he took from Ralph's house and closely examined the pictures of the naked females. He smiled and giggled as he thumbed through the many pages of the little book.

Contrath's eyebrows raised by the actions of the man in front of him. However all the those thoughts disappeared as he began to imagine what benefits awaited him. Had Contrath been wrong when assuming this mans wealth was next to nothing? Was Contrath going to be coming into money sooner than he thought? No matter what the outcome, Contrath was intrigued and proceeded to question further.
"When you say 'treasure', are we talking gold, silver or any other sort of actual treasure? Or are we talking these stones? If so, how valuable do you reckon they are?"
His eyes wandered to the book that Tobias had now began reading and shook his head slightly, from the little time Contrath had spent with this man he had found him to be a strange one. But clients were clients, so he reverted his attention back to the mans face to wait for a response.

Tobias frowned and snapped the book shut. Leaning back, he let his head fall so that his gaze met Conrath's.
"Treasure is treause my firend..... you can take whatever you please on our travles.... I only want one thing.... THE STONE IS MINE! .....YOU HEAR ME? M-I-N-E! MINE!"
He frowned again and sat back up, hold his head in his hands. The thoughts in his mind swelled and he was gettign a horrible headache. The little voices were pestering him, and if he was back at home in Cabal, on a typical day he'd be listening to them.
KILL THEM!
They wont help you!
You're not strong enough on your own!
You pansy!
You need help!
Show your strength!
Be truely strong!
Kill them all!
Each and every one of them!
Bathe in thier blood!
Then take a break for a snack....
Yessss.... something filling....
PIE!
YEsssssssssss..... Apple pie!

With a violent shaking of his head he dismissed the thoughts.
"There will be time for pie later....."

The first step of the quest will be getting to Cabal and from there to Broken Ruins (Check map of Dredental). There you will be able to find hints, and I will act as a dungeon master for Tobias and his company in order to make it rewarding. The last step will be to travel to a location on the map that will be revealed in the Broken Ruins. The reward should have treasure aside from the stone, but it is up to Brutus to decide exactly what.

This quest RP will grant skill points to all participants.
