Behind it being a five part?
I have no idea but that's what the bbc have decided to do. There are rumours it's because of JB's schedule but apparently they're not true. idk.
Behind me thinking it's bull crap?
They're basically back shelving Torchwood..

Its got the best ratings on BBC America, and the BBC should be thinking about global audiences.
Meh, maybe its because Doctor Who is taking a break year, and they want to keep both shows on the same time line.

Well, I kind of agree with you, the moment I found out I kind of wanted to cry. If it wasn't bad enough to kill Owen and Tosh off, they have to shorten the series. What bullshit!!!
Also, most of the time, they have 5 episodes in the begining of the year, and five at the end, I hope to god thats what they are doing.
Well, for now there is nothing we can do, and that shouldn't be all bad, atleast I can get my Janto fix. lol.

I don't think kiddie friendly will mean cutting out relationships. Oh and question, is it just a UK thing, having 11 or 10 eps per season as opposed to around 20. Because over here you get like 10 or more in the fall and 10 or more in the spring, usually.

well then that screws up next year hardly any Doctor or Jack what am I going to do!!!!!!! I guess I don't understand why they seem to cram all the filming in so quick and burn out the stars. America series are longer and people stay around in their chacter longer. It just seems a bit weird to me to have all this burn out. At least that is the impression I get from watching extras and what not. DT and JB seem to really enjoy their chacters and work but they also seem so wiped out but the end of filming. Maybe I am just reading into it too much. sigh...
