Outside of the academy's main building, there is a monument of sorts--an empty book cover carved from the center of the onyx steps which lead to the entrance. The book cover is not the monument; that is the holographic projector inside the book cover. Pages upon pages are projected from within the cover, so that it looks as though there is a larger than life sized book standing between those steps. The names of fallen pilots, so-called heroes of war, cover these intangible pages. With a wave of the hand anyone can turn the pages, if they so desire. There is a belief among the student body that some sinister program guides this hologram. What else would drive it to project a few blank pages at the end? Superstition aside...those pages serve to remind the students of their fate--one day their names will also adorn the pages of this book.
