WELCOME!
Hi everyone and welcome to the Mixitupism guild, wherein everyone is equal, and equally loved by Chuck! mrgreen
Except me, because I'm captain, so there. xd
Mixitupism, as you probably know from the first page, is a guild based on learning and Q&A to aid religious understanding. We want to keep all attacks and anger to a minimum. Here you can ask others about their religions, share what you love about your own, and discuss any religion with maturity and respect. (Although clearly we also have our share of immature fun as well whee )
Thanks, guys! Follow the rules, enjoy your stay, and don't be shy - feel free to start a topic at any time. And there's no stupid question wink so if you'd like to know more about a religion, ask. Someone is bound to know, or will be able to link you to a helpful website.

RULES (follow them)
- Please respect everyone, not just the crew. - Follow the Gaia TOS and so on. - Insults and prejudice are not acceptable in this guild. - Proselytising is not acceptable in this guild. - Feel free to swear. I do it all the time. - Please be literate in your posts. We don't mind the odd misspelling but, you know, I want to be able to read it wink - We appreciate that debates will arise. We understand that people get frustrated in debates. However, it's very important to us here that things be kept somewhat relaxed. Understand that you may have misunderstood, and understand that people may misspeak or not explain themselves properly. - Sometimes we have to accept that we were wrong. If you're here, you came here to learn as well as to share knowledge. Sometimes we learn something that we don't like. If this happens, don't take your frustration out on those trying to help. Instead, ask questions, attempt to understand, and share your concerns.
We're fairly easy going, but if we think you've crossed the line you will receive a warning. If the behaviour continues you will be banned. These rules are subject to change if any incidences arise.
Guidelines (Dos and Don'ts) (As written by Garrett)
Do
-Discuss/debate in a clean, friendly manner. I'm not joking about this. Posts will be deleted and multiple offenders banned.
-Ask questions. This is a learning Guild. Asking questions is good.
-Read EVERYTHING. All the stickies are important and may contain answers you are looking for.
Don't
-Misappropriate. (This is a huge one) This means that the misuse of the word Wicca or anything thereof will not be tolerated.
-Name-call. It's acceptable to think everyone here can act in a mature fashion.
-Slander (libel). This is a big one. While there are always instances where someone misunderstood what another person was trying to say, there is a huge difference between misunderstanding and insisting. Do not insist that someone has said something they didn't.

The Guild Mule is Chuck's Personal Assistant.
Send her money if you really want to. I'll work out something to do with it later.
Chuck's PA will be responsible for all the a**-kicking that has to take place and may handle some of the announcements etc.
"Hi!!! I'm Chuck's Personal Assistant!! Nice to meet you!!! ^_^"

FORUMS
We have tried to get a subforum for all the major religions and religious umbrellas. Please understand that it's not possible to have a subforum for every single religion (people often don't check 'em anyway). Anything else can go in the General Forum and it might get a subforum made for it later. This includes Pagans who are neither recon nor eclectic and don't consider their faith related to nature in any way, if they can't just bring themselves to post in those forums. Basically we have to fudge lines here. wink
Atheism doesn't get one because it's not a religion. K? K.
The Forums are as follows:
Wicca: Wicca gets its own subforum because of all the misinformation rife about it. We have, like, overkill of stickies in there. You may find yourself directed to said stickies from elsewhere in the guild if you're confusing Wicca with something else. wink
General Recon & Recon-inspired Paganism: Self-explanatory, really. If your faith is recon-based to a fair degree, it'd belong in here. Asatru (and other Heathenries) belong here, as does Hellenismos, Kemetic Polytheism etc.
General Nature-Based Spirituality: If you are an eclectic Pagan, a witch, a spiritualist etc. your faith might well go in here. Other nature-based spirituality and discussion will go in here also.
Judaism: From here on things are pretty much self-explanatory...
Christianity: All sects of Catholicism and Protestantism go here. So do Heretics, Gnostics and so forth. If you worship Jesus, you go here.
Islam
Hinduism
Buddhism
General Eastern Faiths: If you ain't recon Pagan, Buddhist or Hindu, and you're from the Orient, faith goes here. We're talkin' Ancestor Worship, Shinto, philosophies like Daoism etc.
So that's the forums. Keep in mind anything posted in the general forum might be moved.

Stickies and Pictures
We are accepting info-dumps to be made into stickies for various forums. Info-dumps should be sent to the Guild Mule mentioned a few posts up. You will be credited as the author.
Please do not simply make an FAQ or info-dump thread and ask for it to be stickied. It will not be, and it may be removed (though likely we will leave it up for discussion).
Stickies are not discussion threads.
If you know of an info-dump by someone else that has been given freely for use (under the understanding that it is properly credited), please by all means send this in with the author's name or link to where it can be found. We're talking preferably other Gaia users here as they're easiest to contact if we have any questions. Likewise if you know of an info-dump that might be useful that we can ask permission of someone to use, please let us know. That sort of info you can give in the forums.
We're looking for useful, helpful information. Spell things out, go into some detail. Quotations from primary sources are encouraged.
If you are considering sending in an info-dump:
- Check your facts. We don't want to do it for you and we don't necessarily have the knowledge or resources to do so anyway.
- You need not be an adherent of a faith to write an info-dump on it. But you must, obviously, be fairly well-versed in it.
- Plagiarism is not acceptable and may result in a ban from this guild. This includes sending in info-dumps written by others without acknowledgement of this fact, copypasta from websites, paragraphs copied from books etc.
- If you're copying much of your info out of a book to write your info-dump, please don't bother. Likewise if you just discovered the wonder of such-and-such last week, please leave it to someone with more experience.
- Leave your prejudices at the door. Keep to the facts. Don't go into UPG or emotional response to the subject unless it's really important to the sticky. Say "they believe" rather than, for example, stating the age of the earth at 6000 years as absolute truth.
- Avoid generalisations that honestly don't apply to all members of this religion.
- Label personal opinion as such.
- Don't be discouraged if we reject the info-dump. We want to feel sure that the info is correct and that we're comfortable with your sources and your knowledge before we put it out there for everyone. We might also sit on the info-dump for a while before putting it up.
Personal FAQs and Q&A threads are different to this sort of info-dump. You can post these freely in the relevant forums. Other people can post in these threads, so make sure you reserve as many posts as you think you'll need when setting them up. Label all UPG in these threads.
