Olive trees droop down and brush the surface of a local river. Mountians surround the west side of the village area. To the east, forests, and to the north flat plains. Temples are raised in places to best complement their respective Goddess and God. The surrounding area is clean, most buildings are constructed of white marble.

Hera, jealous of her husband Zeus's infilidty, and those who help him, invoked a horrindous melody that puts any who hears it under the singers/players control. Not even the Goddess' and Gods themselves can resist its haunting tune. Hera, losing control of the songs powers, let it slip away from her. Now, those few with knowledge of it, look for it, either to rule the world or to destroy it.

She braided her hair once, twice, thrice, before pulling it out, letting it fall again. Slowly, the river guardian looked off to the side, twitching at the sounds of the other bickering guardians, throwing insults at one another. Yet another typical day...

"Gods, Phlegethon, you're meeeeeean~!" The shorter river guardian wailed, tears streaming down her face. The man she yelled to, long, red and silver hair draping passed his shoulders, was scowling, and twisting his hand, flames licking up his arms.

"Stop your bloody crying! Cocytus! Honestly!" He roared, but she cried harder. Nearby, another man sat, his head in his hands, shuddering with anger. Finally, once the bickering turned to insulting, he jerked up, snarling at them.

"Would you two SHUT UP?!" He roared, and they both drew back, flames dying, crying subsiding. "THANK you." He mumbled, sitting at his spot again. "I swear, your bickering is enough to wake the Gods from their slumber. Let alone our master, Hades, neh?"

Cocytus whimpered again. "But he was picking on me..." The elder river guardian twitched again, though stayed silent. The girl from before sat off to the side, continuing to braid her hair. She stared down at the black water before her in silence, eyes glazed a bit.

Hell...what a fickle place... [Hell, that was fun!]

[I love them...*is the river guardians* ^^;;] They all went silent, staring at him in shock, then looking down. Cocytus started crying again, flailing her arms helplessly. "i'm sorry m'lord!" She cried, tears streaming down her face.

Acheron and Phlegethon sweatdropped in unison, then shook their heads. The elder stood, bowing to Hades. "I apologize, my lord, for the--"

"FOr Cocytus acting like a god-forsaken baby. Shut up!" He yelled at her, and she cried harder, throwing stones from her river over at the fire guardian. He snarled at her, and they started bickering again.

Archeron growled, and st arted to scold them, but the girl from before, Lethe, stepped forward, looking at Hades. "It won't happen again." She said in a monotonal voice, folding her hands over her stomach, then bowing her head, and returning to her river.

Acheron bowed quickly, apologizing for the others, only to hear Phegethon and Cocytus start to fight again. He slapped his forhead, murmering 'I give up,' and returning to his river, vanishing.

Lethe glared over at the river of fire and weeping, her ears aching from their drama-queen like fighting. After a while, they both gave up, apologizing as well, then leaving to go to their own accorded river. Lethe stayed, going back to braiding her hair in silence. [Whehe....Technically, Cocytus and Phegethon are like siblings...]

She simply shook her head, still braiding her hair, her boots dangling along the top of the water. "There have been none my lord...a few mortals tried to enter the river Styx a while back, but Sstyx took care of it..." She looked thoughtful, shaking her head.

After he left, Lethe felt someone come up behind her. She didn't have to say anything, letting her hair fall free. "What did our lord want?" The man asked. She closed her eyes, sighing.

"Simply what Phegethon and Cocytus were arguing about......"
