Dia was enjoying the sunlight. If she'd been asked, she would have said that she was basking. Giving the sun it's proper due while it was shining down so brightly.

In truth, she was dozing where she stood at the edge of the pasture. She'd eaten a bit. She'd done some exploring. And now, bathed in the warmth and quite certain that she wasn't in any danger, she'd closed her eyes and let herself drift, one rear hoof cocked up in a camp as the breeze stirred her mane and tail.

It was only when a shadow fell across her that she opened her eyes and looked for the source of the sudden shade. She put her hoof down, straightened up and asked, "Could you move a few steps that way? There was just the right amount of sun here, and now there's not."

She flared her white wings, letting the sun catch in the two-hued purple and red tips. The tribal markings along her pasturen seemed the flare brightly as she stomped the ground. There was a grounded in the way of her walking path. "You're in my path," she said huffily, "move horse."

She had blatantly ignored the other mare's request for her to move over so she could better enjoy the sunlight. Regulars were beneath her, both with flight and the natural order of the world. Why would she want to do something so simple as moving around the mare? She should move for her. It was only right in the world.

She'd blatantly ignored Dia's very reasonable--she thought--request. Not only that, she'd stomped her hoof in the process. Dia turned her head, taking note of the open space surrounding her, and looked back at the other mare.

"There's room," she said, ears tipped back a bit, "for you to go around me, I think. That will solve both problems at once." She'd have the sunlight she wanted, and this mare could go wherever she was going. Away, preferably.

The nerve to continue to suggest she move around her. She had been keeping a very steady, straight path and this mare was planted right in her way. It was ridiculous.

She tossed her head, forcing her forelock to move from her eyes.
"Or you could show proper respect to your better."

Well then. Dia shook off the rest of her relaxation and straightened up, weight braced evenly on all four hooves. "Better," she echoed. "What makes you better than I am?" She looked the other mare over, head to hoof and back, then tossed her head and flicked her tail. "Wait, let me guess. Wings."

She stretched her neck a bit as if peering more closely. They both had four legs, both ears, both eyes. Manes, tails, all the bits that should be there. It had to be the wings. What else could it be? "You're one of those. The ones who think that only those who can fly are worth anything, aren't you?"

She snorted and tossed her head at what sounded like a sneering attitude from the other mare. It was insulting for her to look down upon her kind, those who rose above the horses in more ways than one.

Her beautiful face turned into a nasty little smirk,
"Yes, one of those that is half tempted to stomp you back into your place, horse."

Sad to say--or maybe good for her--Dia wasn't one of those who took being bullied well. "Stomp away," she offered, ears tipped back slightly. "But I have hooves too. And I don't have a place to be stomped too, so I hope your legs don't get tired before mine do."

"I have no patience for something that doesn't know where it belongs in the ranking of Soquili," Windstorm said nastily, turning her back to the other mare to walk a few steps the way she had come. She made a wide circle at a trot and once she was even with the golden mare, she went towards her at a fast gait. She was only feet away from ramming into the other one before she opened her painted wings and soared over into the sky.
