Character Name: Ishtadaal ‘Ishda’ Devaleus.
Status: Teacher.
Age: Twenty two and a half years old.
Gender: Male.
Race: Part manes, from his father’s side.
Height: Six feet four inches in height. He inherits this, like most of his outward appearance, from his father. He slouches down sometimes, as he dislikes being taller than other people; he takes it as a display of superiority, which he shuns.
Weight: 209 lbs of muscle. His body is denser than most, so he is just as strong as (and heavy) as someone bulky with muscle.
Build: Strong, and almost slender. Wiry muscles.
Appearance:
Hair- Pale, silvery-blonde hair with a bit of cobalt grey streaking in the front. It runs in his father’s family. Cut short, to about the jaw line, save for a few longer strands to each side of the face. He hasn’t bothered to cut it in a while, so it is a bit longer than it usually is.
Eyes- Vivid, ice blue eyes with a very dark, almost black rim to the iris. It’s a trait common to his father’s family. He gets the color from his mother; perhaps the only thing from her.
Skin- Pale, with a scar in the middle collarbone area, on his face from the temple to the cheek and on the middle finger. Otherwise, perfectly scarless and devoid of any imperfection such as a freckle or mole. [Note: to a manes; scars are not considered imperfections, but they are very much so in poor, vain, Ishda’s mind.]
Features- Strong chin; wide, soft lips; a long, aristocratic nose and arching eyebrows are what individualize his face. He is vain, and sometimes will line his eyes with kohl, something to protect his daylight-sensitive eyes. To the one side of his face is a complex tattoo of a dragon; simple and almost Manish in design. It hides another scar, running from temple to the hollow of his cheek. He very much appears like his father, but with a softer jaw.
Clothing- Black pants, and a low-necked black coat with silver accents and a blood red lining, as favored by his family. He sometimes will wear a loose white silk shirt, but that depends on whether or not the day is cold to him. Being from the icy north, very few days are. He wears a signet ring on his right hand, at first glance which appears as a skull, but is actually a weirtheiyr, or undead-hunting eagle; the Devaleus family symbol. He wears a smaller, nondescript black-lacquered band on his right forefinger, given to him by his former lover back in Uunur. He sometimes wears a scarf, when it really gets cold.
Likes: Men, ale, and food. Sweet things.
Dislikes: Flirtatious women. He can, at times, be an incorrigible flirt, but he can’t handle women hitting on him. He grows a deep red, becomes flustered, shuts up, and will concentrate on the task at hand, which is usually draining the mug or glass of whatever-it-is sitting in front of him. He hasn’t told ANYBODY why he does so, not even Echo
Strengths: Very strong, good with sabers, amazing at scaling walls. Agile, good actor, very analytical and extremely talented when it comes to music. He can pick locks, pockets, coerce secrets from even moderately lock-lipped people, and is okay at burgling houses. He is a skilled actor and knows a great deal about the inner workings of a number of thieves’ guilds. He also doesn't get sick very often.
Weaknesses: Vulnerable to archers and sneak attacks. He’s used to straight melee combat, and little else. He can’t keep up running for a time, because his coat has a number of plates and chain mail components hidden within it, but unless he’s being chased by something, it doesn’t matter much; he isn’t a messenger. He can be quite brash at times, and isn’t at all good at protecting or backing someone in a fight; to the contrary, he is nearly useless.
Weapons: Two sabers called Lightning and Weirfang. Lightning has a deep green wrapping on the hilt, and Weirfang’s is plain rawhide. Lightning and Weirfang. He also has a number of throwing daggers, his most prized one being Aihiasti (pron.: Eye-a**-tee), which is the blue-lacquered griffin-headed twin of Echo’s red Kiyrleigh. He has seven, the former mentioned in his belt purse, one in his boot, two in each sleeve and one in a hidden pocket along his coat hem. He seldom uses them, though, and last time he threw one, he lost it and never found it. He now only possesses seven, and is loathe to throw them.
Personality: Very easygoing in nature, Ishda has the innate ability to appeal to people of nearly every temperament, with the notable exception of extremely angry or sad people. He has little to no empathy, which often makes Echo beat her head against the wall, or him, on a regular basis. He finds it amusing. For some reason, he seems to stir up angry people like a kick stirs up the contents of a beehive. He is used to violent actions being directed towards him, and will let an angry person vent at him, until it looks like he might bruise.
He has trouble revealing his deeper emotions.
Ishda is an extremely vain person, a trait he solely inherited from his human mother. He takes a good amount of time every morning to ‘get ready for the day’, as he puts it, but Echo differs, preferring to call it ‘primping like a rich lady’. He occasionally lines his eyes with a charcoal-containing makeup known as Kijiard, or Kohl.
Bio: Ishda shares little about his past with anyone. Even Echo knows little about him.
Ishda was born the first son of two sons; and the fourth child of six, to Naria and Ques of Ilaam, in the northern country of Manesh, in Uunur. He was disowned at age ten, and traveled with a band of merchants to Kerovsken, where he proceeded to live. At the age of eleven, he joined the order of the silver lantern; the covert name for the head thieves’ guild in the city. He was a messenger, but at age twelve, made an unusual ascension of job to scout, for his straightforwardness, lack of subtlety, and fighting ability. Many say he would have ascented to the rank of the thief lord’s second, had he not befriended Echo.
Ishda came to HoB to warn Echo that the Thieves’ Guild is after her.
Extra: Ishda is gay. He has had a small number of romances, and is at the moment single, after a rather heated argument about leaving Uunur.
