Frederica Berkanstel Fredrica is an omni-present being surrounding the Higurashi universe. Frederica is the writer of the poem about Rika's struggle to escape the fate of June 1983, giving hints about each arc. She likes playing with time and events, as seen in puzzle piece #52 and the end of the second season of the anime, entering an alternate world and stopping Miyoko's (Miyo Takano's) parents from dying. She even has an intention of making a world where Rika's or Satoko's parents did not die, or pairing Keiichi with various girls. Although she claims that she is not Rika, it's implied that she is the collective mentality of the several thousand reincarnations of Rika. The pronunciation of Frederica roughly resembles Furude Rika, and Bernkastel is well known for its wine. She is hinted to be one of the witches in Umineko no Naku Koro ni. I have posted her poems in General Chatter.

I've always wondered about Feredrica. She doesn't pop out too often. But I guess I should play the game so I can know more about her.

I heard that she also goes on into the series "Umineko no Naku Koro Ni". Is that true? Well... Maybe I shouldn't be asking that or.... Ya... Is it true?

That appears to be true, although she is just called Bernkastel in Umineko.

The beginning of the manga is posted on onemanga.com. You can see it there. And maybe we can petition them to update it.

This isn't quite as benevolent as it seems, at least to me, if you follow it logically. Ironically enough, if Takano's parents don't die, Satoko does. Okay, here's the logic: Takano's parents dying leads to Takano meeting her "grandfather" and learning about his research. Without that, she never would have started her project and Irie would never have come along to be in charge of it. However, the Dam War still occurs. Satoko still has issues with her parents. Those aspects are unrelated. Thus, Satoko still comes down with Hinamizawa syndrome and kills her parents. The curse still occurs for at least two years. Since Satoko still has Hinamizawa syndrome but this time there's no Irie, she doesn't get cured, and it can be assumed that she dies. But now, let's go further. Satoko dies and Satoshi is now still stuck with his abusive aunt and uncle. This would probably push him off the edge into getting Hinamizawa syndrome himself, and possibly committing his part of the curse a year early. Then he dies. But now that we've had three years of continuity and Satoshi dead, we have enough ingredients that Shion could possibly catch it, torture Mion, and send the situation into Meakashi-hen or something similar. Very conjectural, but I'm curious if anyone else is thinking the same thing.

Very conjectural, but I'm curious if anyone else is thinking the same thing. Who's to say that Professor Takano doesn't make his research go somewhere anyways, and himself head to Hinamizawa to start up a clinic, or find someone different to pass his research onto? Think about how passionate he was about his research, enough that, when it was rejected, he burst into tears. He most likely wouldn't take it to his grave, but find an apprentice and have that person follow in the footsteps that Miyo would have, had she ended up in his care. You never know, anything's possible.

I thought that it was Rika older, going back in time to say something to Miyo. (I don't know really, I just took a peak at the end.)
