Welcome, geishas, maikos, and maids alike, to the Mayu Okiya. The name Mayu comes from the Japanese (ma) "true" or (ma) "full" combined with (yu) "gentleness" or (ma) "superiority" . Josophine patiently waited for the arrivals. She was more the prepared to answer the many questions the women might have, and to deal with the complaints.

OOC:: I can also play a guy character, if that is needed. I wouldn't mind at all. Tell me your opinion on that, please.))
((I just want to make this as exciting as possible for all of us, and I know guys are kind of needed))
Shizumi walked up to the okaya gate, set the two large bundles she'd been set with on the ground, and pulled the large bell to have someone let her. She didn't know what to do, she was too afraid to see if the gate was even unlocked. She bit her bottom lip nervously, completely forgetting about the make up she wore. The kimono she wore screamed miako, but yet wasn't colorful and fancy like the others. She felt a twinge of sadness knowing she had a new life to build, her old okaya was gone, and she knew her old life would never intersect with this one. It had been a small okaya to begin with, and everyone was spread out all over the country. She'd have to get over it and grow up, this would be just as good if not better.
Shizumi saw Josophine, walking over to her quickly, before setting the muddles down at her sides. She bowed respectfully, " I am Shizumi. I have arrangements to live here. I've come from a small Okaya in the north. It's very nice to meet you, this place is quite lovely, I'm very excited to live here."

The quiet shuffle of pokkiri against stone and the rustle of thick drapes of silk was by far more pleasant a sound to force even the most beautiful of Warbler songs to halt in awe of any geisha or maiko's stunning presence. Particularly on this day, hotter than most, even the winds seemed to agree by churning up some form of coolness in favor of beauty. Today was not the day for keeping up such appearance, though. Natsumi pushed silver strands from her face while peering solemnly at a note tacked to the Kanenokikiyou Okiya threshold that read of it's close and where all should report to in it's place. Crossing her arms, she let out a sigh. "It's too hot for this game..." Frustration furrowed at her brow, Natsumi turned nimbly on her tall shoes and batted a hand at her face furiously despite the slight breeze. At least the place she would be going to was slightly bigger than this Okiya... hopefully. Heading inside, she packed her various cosmetics and silk kimonos Okaa-san had bought her and left without another word. It just seemed proper not to dwell on the past in such a way.
Stepping lightly as taught and gliding as best she could with the assortment of weights in tote, Natsumi toddled her way up to the entrance of where she and all other's who'd been evicted would live for the moment. Setting her suitcase and few boxes of silks at her feet, she bowed deeply at the door before Josophine with a cascade of locks dripping over her shoulders, though twice tied high at the back of her head. "My name is Oshiro Natsumi, from Kanenokikyou Okiya, a way down. The note said to stay here." Confusion may as well have been stamped on her forehead in bold, red letters with a trailing arrow pointing down to her fidgeting hands that were cupped together in polite gesture from the bow. It probably seemed quite the introduction visual best suited for a becoming maiko such as herself.

With a graceful bow to both of the girl her intensely piercing eyes gazed at the two arrivals, both dressed as maikos. "Hello- I am pleased to have you here, you both seem like fine ladies." She spoke with a slight accent that can't really bit pointed down on where it's from. "I would like to show you two where you are to stay the night for the time being, I will answer any questions you may have if you are so kind to follow me." With that Josophine began to walk, as gracefully as a swan on a crystal lake, through the front garden.

Shizumi followed her closely, "I've brought a gift of graditude for taking me in on such short notice, " she said as she carried the two bags in her numb arms. She'd been carring these for a while, and her arms felt like they'd be stretched to twice their length. As they walked trhough the garden Shizumi gazed at all the beautiful flowers, smiling softly as they passed. She loved the smell of blossoming plants that came only in the spring, and she was trying to carve this moment into her memory forever. Even though she felt awkward and out of place she still wanted to remember this, it was the first day as a Miako, the first step to becoming a Geisha. She didn't particular want to become an Maiko or Geisha, she was perfectly fine being outside tending to the garden, growing a mix of vegitables. She had no choice now, and with the old okaya gone, she had to proove that true beauty will always come from the ashes and unlucky times.

Josophine nodded as she unveiled a simple room with several cots on the ground. "You are welcome to pick any bed you wish, and set your bags down and relax..... and Shizumi? right?" Her perfectly formed eyebrows raised looking for a response from the pretty young girl in front of her. "Could you come to my office once you finish unpacking and such.... It's down the hall- to the main room - then from there you should be able to see it." With that she left the girls to unpack and rest as she headed to her office to fill out the forms for their arrival.

Akime walked timidly into the court yard of this new place that has asked the maiko and others to come. She looks around from where she stands on her little pink getta. She hears the soft sound of the leaves rustling together and wonders if she is supposed to be here. Then unsure of what else to do, she waites in the silence that seems to engulf the amazingly beautiful cort yard.

Shizumi set down her things taking something with her as she passed Akime, bowing her head respectfully, "Don't be nervous. I'm Shizumi." She gave her a sweet smile as she passed by her quickly walking to Josophine's office. When she got there she knocked twice and waited for a response before she went in. She got on her knees bowing respectfully to Josophine, "Thank you so much for letting us into your Okaya." She got up elegantly, she wasn't great but she was off to a good start.
She sat on her knees across from Josophine, " I am willing to help in anyway. I know this okaya is off to a good start, I am not above chores by any means. I would just like to attend school at the same time," It would have been rude to say all that without being asked for her opinion, but she had to let it out.

Josophine took a drag from thin silver pipe, and blew the smoke out slowly over her left shoulder, her eyes then opened with a piercing gaze. "That is fine." She spoke quietly and soundly in her perfectly tuned voice. "But the classes offer you only so much- I offer you to study under me for the time being." She took a pause to let the offer sink in before continuing. " But know- you are not above any other maiko in this building - by any means of accepting this offer."

Shizumi watched Josophine closely as the smoke emanated from her mouth. When the offer was laid out on the table Shizumi quickly looked down, embarrassed now for her outburst moments ago. She started to press her lips together but stopped herself from the nervous habit and spoke instead, "I would never think I am above anyone," she tried to think of somethign clever to say, to prove she was worthy, but nothing came to mind. After a few moments she looked back up at Josophine, "Thank you for this opportunity, I only hope I can do it justice."

A smile revealed itself, showing a perfect set of teeth as white as pearls. "I take it you accept." She nodded. "You may start by first making sure all the new arrivals are shown around and understand why they are here and what is to go on -such and such" Taking a pause to take another deep drag Josophine closed her eyes letting her words sink in. The smoke emitted from her lips danced through the air slowly taking shapes of waves, winds, and dragons. "Also- Since we are yet to have any Geishas come to assign you an older sister you will be attending the teahouse with me. Any questions, Shizumi?"

Ayumi stood frozen at the door hesitating. "what should I do?" she thought. A thousand emotions raced through her head. Her eyes watered and she wiped her face on her sleeve. She stood unsure of what to expect...

Shizumi shook her head slowly, sitting their silently until Josophine excused her. She left the room as gracefully as she could, walking over to Ayumi, "Don't be upset. What's wrong? There isn't really anything you can do," she gave ayumi a supportive smile "Don't cry, you're too beautiful to be sad."
Shizumi's eyes glanced around quickly trying to find Akime, or anyone else that might have showed up. She wasn't changed at all by Josophine asking her to be her assistant, it some ways it hadn't set in. She'd come there expecting to fight for what she had, not to be trusted as an assistant.
She motioned for Ayumi to go into the room with the cots, "Did you bring anything from your old okaya? I could help you set your things up."
__
Ryou rang the bell at the gate, still in his navy blue suit from work, the most casual thing about it was the unbuttoned jacket. He looked around him, strange to see such a new okaya seeming so deserted. No girls wondering about. The economy in Japan was becoming so crazy, the changing world not helping any. He was a modern man with the love of old Japan. He was a quiet and determined man, by the age twenty five he'd started his own company, now a year shy of thirty he was very living more than comfortably.
His right hand absently ran through his chestnut hair. It wasn't a formal short and barely there hair style of the men who often frequented the okayas. The type of men who worked for large, well known, companies that demanded formal and cookie cutter workers. His bangs pushed to the side in a wispy way. The sides slightly layered as they went around his ears. The only thing neat about it was that it was perfectly trimmed so that not one hair fell over his ears, instead the hair boxed around them.
He rang the bell again, not impatiently, just to be heard. The impatient men always rang the bell repeatably, he rang once waited a few moments then rang again. This action alone could tell you that he was patient, just serious and not there to waste time. He was on a mission. His hazel eyes, with hints of gold around the pupil, scanned the entrance gate that hid the beautiful garden and okaya. It was simple and told him nothing, for all he knew it was an empty lot behind the walls.

Ayumi wiped her eyes and looked down at her feet nervously. Beautiful... she was not used to receiving compliments. She shook her head and shyly holding up a small bag that held only one change of cloths, and replied, " I had no other okiya. I am new.
