Creation "Myth"So they only knew of the mortal aspect of the Princess... That is only a part of it. The Princess of Ice is supposed to be one of the vessels of the original Elemental Dragons. The Elemental Dragons are said to have created the world as we know it. Out of the Infinite Darkness, Chaos, if you will, a light sparked. That light was the First Dragon, the Creator, hatching as a full-fledged dragon. She was lonely, existing and flying alone in the infinite darkness. Eventually, she bore a clutch of eleven eggs, the father of which is said to be Chaos. Thus, dragons Fly to mate. These eggs hatched under her watchful eye, and gave rise to the Elemental Dragons. They are Ice, Fire, Lightning, Nature, Water, Light, Darkness, Wind, Wood, Metal, and Guardian. They were immortal, and wandered in the darkness with her. As they grew, they became restless, wanting more than just everlasting darkness. They begged the First to do something to make Chaos more interesting. So she thought about it for a time, then decided on what she would do. She gathered her almost-grown hatchlings, then blew her flame. It ate at Chaos, and though most of the fires were extinguished, some remained. These are the stars. They all roamed throughout Chaos, breathing fire at it, creating the first stars. But soon they tired of this, and returned to the First, begging for more to do. This time, she created for them a place to roam and play. Thus, the Earth came to be. They loved being on their own world, but soon grew bored, for it was only a large rock. This time, they decided to make something that they would never tire of. They made Life. They used their powers to create the seas, the forests, the deserts, mountains, and creatures; everything that we see now. However, in the process, they lost their bodies, became spirits. All but one of the eleven... The Guardian had not participated, feeling edgy and nervous about disagreeing with the others. Their creations did not know Immortality, for they had not the power to make them so. She was left, and felt horrible without her clutch-mates. She saw their wandering spirits and wept for them, for they could never die and end their suffering, though the creations they had lost their bodies to make would inevitably die. She decided to create the dragons in the image of her dead siblings. In doing so, she herself lost her body, but she and her sibliings had vessels in which to exist. However, they fell to fighting, since the creations couldn't keep peace, and their vessel's wills still affected them. The Ice Princess is obviously the host of Ice. She, in an effort to stop the fighting, froze herself in time so that all of her powers may be used to maintain peace. Her release means that war will break out again, though it also signals, according to the legend, the coming of the Guardian, since she has never yet reappeared since creating the dragons. Yes, she did 'freeze herself in time' according to the legend. Apparently she literally did... ~Introduction~ ~Creation Myth~ ~Mythological Figures~ ~Currency~ ~Kromatics Rankings~ ~Known Facts About Guardian~ ~Common Manifestations of Essesnces~ ~Concerning Flights~ ~On Auras~

Known Facts About Guardian:1. Silvery-white dragon with irregular black stripes (Zaparku says "They say She was silver as the purest moonbeam of heaven, yet with stripes dark as the shadows of hell...") 2. (Assumed) Female 3. No Guardian Essences or Elemental since creation of the dragons 4. Name has been lost 5. "Chained" 6. Need to find Her name to free her 7. World will cease to exist if She is not found and freed 8. Sent Saan on a quest "So he might rediscover what only the lost may find, and only the First might claim." Furthermore, she tells Saan, in response to his question of what exactly he has to find, "I can't tell you specifically, but you search for three things. You must find the place where the mountains never truly sleep, the one who knows the ancient names for all, and the one who yearns as I for what he has not." ~Introduction~ ~Creation Myth~ ~Mythological Figures~ ~Currency~ ~Kromatics Rankings~ ~Known Facts About Guardian~ ~Common Manifestations of Essesnces~ ~Concerning Flights~ ~On Auras~

Common Manifestations of EssencesQuick Note on Essences: Essences are a essentially a "distilled" form of their element. They are the second most powerful manifestation of an element, the most powerful being the Elementals themselves. If you would like to create an Essence to rp, contact Tundrus (more details in Character Profiles thread). Essences take the form of an animal. The type of animal depends on the element. Here is a list of the most common forms and colorations/materials: Fire----fire/sand, red/orange/gold/sandy browns----phoenixes, salamanders, camels Water----blues/some greens, water/vapor----otters, hippos, water buffalo, sea birds Wind----brown/silver/white/pale green, pale purple winds----most eagles, hawks, falcons Nature----brown/some green, dirt/rocks/etc.----grizzly bears, tigers, bison Lightning----lightning, silver/yellow/white/light blue----wolves, small to medium-sized wildcats, some eagles (generally giant) Wood----green/brown, wood/plants----anything with antlers/prongs, cougars, badgers Ice----white/silver/pale blue, ice----polar bears, snow leopards, penguins Metal----any metallic color, metal----jaguars, rams, horses (specifically mustangs) Light----light, white/gold/pale reds/oranges/browns/yellows----lions, cheetahs, some birds Darkness----black/very dark colors, shadow----bats, black leopards, owls Guardan----???----??? ~Introduction~ ~Creation Myth~ ~Mythological Figures~ ~Currency~ ~Kromatics Rankings~ ~Known Facts About Guardian~ ~Common Manifestations of Essesnces~ ~Concerning Flights~ ~On Auras~

Concerning FlightsThis section is devoted to dragon Flights. Different from first flight; a Flight (note the capitalization) is a mating flight. Only winged dragons may participate in Flights. Non-flighted dragons and their mating practices will be added later. At around 18 to 20 years of age, dragons will Fly for the first time. In a Flight, a female will take to the air and the males will try to catch her. Before a Flight, the female in question will start releasing pheromones which prompts males to congregate. She will become "proddy", moody, and short-tempered at this time, and will only become more so as her time nears. Her scales will also become more radiant, shining in even the faintest light. The production of the pheromones increases with proximity to her flight. Then, the pheromones will abruptly change, and the males who have congregated to pursue her will hunt. They will kill more before the Flight, and will only drink the blood, plus maybe the liver, a phenomenon known as "Blooding the kill"; the meat would weigh them down in flight. Liver is okay because it is so fatty, and is often consumed when a female is known to be especially fast and/or have great endurance, so as to support a longer chase. Then, the female will Blood her kills; she will never even take the livers, since she needs to be weighed down as little as possible. After she finishes the last one, she will launch herself into the air, and the males will take chase. A Flight might last for mere minutes or, as has been doccumented on occasion, may last for days (the longest known Flight lasted for almost three and a half days). The female will attempt to wear out the pursuing males. As they begin to tire, the males will peel off, leaving the chase to those who can keep up. The Flight is the female's way of weeding out the less fit males, leaving her with the best potential fathers for her clutch. The stronger the female, the more it takes to catch her. Only the most cunning, strong, and fast males will remain in a good Flight. Eventually, though, one of the males will either be "allowed" to catch her, or will catch her on their own. A male catches a female by grabbing her hind paws in his and holding tight as she fights to free herself (in cases where she hasn't "chosen"). If he can manage that, he will grasp her front paws in his, too. Then, he twines his neck and tail with hers, and they fold their wings and enter the dive. The dive is the point where the mating itself occurs. They enter free-fall, and plummet towards the ground heads-first. They will pull out at the last possible moment, untangling themselves and opening their wings. Some couples may take more than one, flying as high as possible before diving. The general consensus is that longer Flights produce healthier clutches, while longer falls produce larger ones. In the case of the female who Flew for almost three and a half days, she laid the largest clutch on record (seventeen eggs) and all but one survived to adulthood (the one that didn't fell off of a cliff while being pursued by a party of hunters). The average survival rate is roundabouts 40-50%. Clutches are also larger and the survival rate better if the pair in question has clutched together before and have a well-established territory. ~Introduction~ ~Creation Myth~ ~Mythological Figures~ ~Currency~ ~Kromatics Rankings~ ~Known Facts About Guardian~ ~Common Manifestations of Essesnces~ ~Concerning Flights~ ~On Auras~

On Auras(note: Patron element is the strongest, then Secondary, then Tertiary) Your Aura is your magical "signiature". It is mostly determined by the strength of different elements within you in relation to each other, the type of magics you favor/person you are, and the strength of/control over your magic. Auras are generally analyzed according to two factors; "color" and "feel". There is a third, "strength", but it is more easily determined and less reliable, as you can change the apparent "strength". The "color" is determined by the your internal elemental balance. Your sttrongest three most influence the color. Obviously, the Patron element influences your Aura's color the most, followed by the Secondary and Tertiary elements. In some rare cases, the strongest four are expressed. The others, depending on their relative strengths in comparison to the three primary elements, may subtly tint your Aura. Elements and their associated colors are as follows: --Fire is red-orange --Water is dark blue --Wind is gray or white --Nature is green --Lightning is purple (less the darkest shades) --Wood is rich browns --Ice is light blue --Metal is silvery or gray --Light is gold or silvery-white --Darkness is the darkest blues/purples or black You may note the absence of a color for the Guardian; this is due to the apparent disappearance of almost all traces of Her, incuding her elemental influence. This disappearance is also why there is no evidence of Guardian elementals. The "feel" is determined by your "nature" and the types of magic you favor. Someone who favors purely destructive magics and/or is cruel or "twisted" has a "cloudier" and "darker" Aura, whereas someone who is inherrently kind and/or favors healing and defensive magics has a "lighter" and "clearer" Aura. The third aspect is the "strength", which is simply the intensity of your Aura. It is simply determined, relying purely on how much magical energy you have and how well you can channel it. However, being so easily determined makes it easier to tamper with, and there are ways to conceal or overrepresent your magical strength There is no "right" way to visualize an Aura. Some see it as a "corona" around someone. Others see "rivers" of magical energy, with swifter currents indicating greater strength. Some see it as a vessel filled with the Aura, size also indicating strength. Most commonly, though, Auras are seen as great pillars of energy. (descriptions have appeared periodically in Saash/Saan posts where Auras are seen as pillars) Finally, some people/dragons can make changes to Auras. The Aura contains a sense of your magical energy, but also of your physical self. There are many magical processes that are detailed in long spell chains in an Aura. The particular few who can clearly see and freely manipulate them are EXTREMELY rare. Some may make minor changes, but there are few who can truly manipulate them. Only the Elementals and the few born with this gift are able to change Auras drastically. Even the Elementals have limitations; it saps a great deal of their energy for them to be able to make large changes. The others have no limits besides their understanding of the ancient script. However, these are so few in number in part because of the power struggles that erupt when their ability is discovered. Some of the largest and bloodiest wars arose because of a fight over who would control one or two of these individuals. Frequently, they are killed or kill themselves, both with the aim of ending the fighting. There are none known and confirmed to exist currently, though it is suspected that someone on the side of the Kromatics has this power (based upon changes in the basic nature of some creatures/people/dragons). However, there is reason to suspect that this very adept manipulator it is not one of the cammanders nor their generals...(not to say that the commanders or generals don't have some ability; no one really knows for sure) ((Note: FREE MANIPULATION OF AURAS IS NOT A POWER THAT JUST ANYONE MAY CHOOSE! From now on, please get permission from Tundrus (or me) if you would like this power. You must make a [strong] case as to why you should have it! There's a fair chance that you won't recieve free manipulation, but, if you ask nicely, you stand a good chance of getting the weaker version (which, in rare cases, can be honed and refined by dedicated individuals so as to strengthen it (hinthint)))). ~Introduction~ ~Creation Myth~ ~Mythological Figures~ ~Currency~ ~Kromatics Rankings~ ~Known Facts About Guardian~ ~Common Manifestations of Essesnces~ ~Concerning Flights~ ~On Auras~
