Xerxes stood at the edge of a branch, just before it thinned too much to carry his weight. He watched the rising sun with interest, his features quiet and calm, like he was listening and seeing something that no one else could perceive. He wandered often, but no matter where he was, he made sure to rise before the sun just to greet her reaching rays with a plaintive and thoughtful gaze.
Xerxes often felt like he shared a deep secret with that joyous orb in the sky, these moments were always precious to him. His tail swished back and forth lightly, not making sound, just enough to keep his balance as he continued his morning "ritual".

Agnethe always woke at dawn. It was much easier to do so, now that she lived away from her family. Nobody to worry about bothering as she moved about. She sighed, thinking of them. It was inevitable, her moving away. As much as she loved them, they were just too... wrong. She hated her father's self-destructive habits, and couldn't stand her younger brother. Always flaunting his body like it was something dirty. And living in the shadow of her mother's past as a stripper was not pleasant for the pure-minded Tokoro. She had come out here far away from her family to forget about their unpleasantries as much as she could, meet some new people, and get on with her life. The only problem was that she hadn't met any new people yet, and was, quite frankly, incredibly lonely to the point where she was considering moving back home. Sighing, she rose from her small nest to collect the morning dew for drinking. As she emerged from her home, to her great surprise, she saw another Tokoro! He had a mane, like hers! Finally! Another! Forgetting her dewdrops, she swung up to a branch across from where he was standing. "Excuse me," she called politely. "Good morning!"

Xerxes turned toward the voice curiously, he hadn't realized any of the area nearby was inhabitted. He smiled warmly at the female and nodded his head genially towards her. He really was a quiet one sometimes, but it made it all the more important to those closest to him when he spoke.
He watched for a moment as the sunlight hit her features. It was beautiful how the ribbons of yellow, pink, and orange laced through her fur and seemed to make her hair glow. He smiled once more, it reached his eyes as they creased pleasantly.

Agnethe accepted his greeting, but was a bit puzzled as to why he did not speak. Perhaps he was simply wary of strangers, a wise thing for an Tokoro to be. She wanted to show him that she meant him no ill will, but didn't want to interrupt what seemed to be some sort of meditation. So she sat, too, watching the sun finish rising. It was awfully lovely this morning. She watched him, too. His dark blues looked quite nice against the bright sun. She hoped he was of a like mind as her, and wasn't some nasty, corrupt creature.

Xerxes stretched all his muscles, each one rippling down the length of his body as the sun finished rising from its own nightly bed. He saw the female still staring at him, curious about her behavior, but not disturbed terribly by it he gave her another warm jovial smile, then alighted to the floor in one agile leap. His mane bounced gently and he shook it back into place as he cantered towards a nearby brook still in sight of the female.

Agnethe was slightly saddened that the male had left her tree. She wanted to at least know his name before he left for good. Silently, she slid down the vines to follow him, hiding in the shadows and behind bushes, watching to see what he was doing. She hoped he wasn't going to do something obscene; he was quite handsome, and she'd never talked with a male who wasn't related to her before.

Xerxes bent his head down to gently lap at the cool waters. He felt quite refreshed by it and groomed himself with the crisp, clean water still on his tongue. He returned to "his" tree feeling more awake and ready to start his day. His stomach gave a low protest as his face flushed though he didn't know anyone was watching, he always felt guilty for ignoring his stomach while he watched the sun rise. I should try to remember to forage later at night to have food for the morning. This is much to unseemly.
With a shake of his mane, he began pawing through the ground near his home trying to forage out any nuts that might have fallen recently. I suppose there's always the nearby grove if my own area isn't ripe quite yet.
