I've just begun teaching lessons and honestly I don't really know what to do. I have one student now and she has only been playing for a year. I'm trying to help her learn her higher octave among other things. HALP!! I don't express myself very well so this is proving very difficult.

Maybe you shouldn't be teaching right now then? How old are you and the student?

I'm 17 and she's 12 I think... actually, I think I've got it mostly under control now, though i'm uncertain how to teach her some things like vibrato and stuff... well at any rate I think I'm getting a bit more comfortable with her.

It's a bit too early to teach her vibrato.
Do you have any workbooks she can follow?

yeah I gave her my old volume two of "accent on achievement" and I have another exercise book that I never really used... heh I didn't much use them except to fiddle around with random songs. though that is around the time I learned vibrato, summer after my first year playing. She went to a band camp recently so I hope they gave her some things we can work off of XD
Also I learned at the camp I just went to from Brad Garner how to teach vibrato, so I think I'm good there. zomg Brad Garner is amazing! heart
