The Main Hut used for general gathering and sleeping is a simple affair at the moment. Large leaves, pilable branches, small saplings, and the like fashion walls to protect from any sharp winds. Woven like a large basket, the hut is not regularly shaped, not round or oval or square. Rather, the walls meander about a mostly clear spot in the treeline some distance inland from teh beach. There's an entry way, just wide enough for three elves standing shoulder to shoulder, before it opens into the main area. Three palms stand in teh middle of the main 'room' in a not quite evenly spaced arrangement. Somewhere centered on these palms is a large central bonfire, ringed in flat slabs of rock, piled four high and mortared together with moist sand.

OOC: By your request, I here by move it to night time. We'll assume the shelter gets at least partially constructed during the rest of the afternoon by anyone that wants to say they helped, a fire gets built (either manually or by Senior Flamebutt over there), and a few more edible things are found to roast.

As darkness deepens, little star-cousins drift out, dancing around the ferns and the fresh water. Off in the tree line, crickets and other bugs chirp and sing. Owls and wolves alike hoot and howl, and fruit bats flutter from their protected caves out into the night sky. The stars twinkle merrily overhead behind the haze of moon dust and debris from the celestial collision above. Only a sliver of the cracked Mother Moon is visible.

Savith sits at the edge of the hut up on one of the low tree branches, as far from the firelight as he can get without being completely absorbed by the shadows. His back is against one of the tall trees being used as a support post of the make-shift hut (which no doubt will get built into something grander), and one leg is bent up toward his chest, the other leg hanging freely down from his perch. He's eaten lightly, and drunk the fresh water from the crisp cool waterfall near by that had no doubt been brought into the hut.

He didn't rest as much as he would have liked this evening, seeing as he was helping with the lifting and moving, so he takes the time now to lounge and recover. He's... waiting... and sending privately.

Llune
Crew

PostPosted: Tue Jun 17, 2008 6:32 pm

Llune is flitting about, as Llune does. She did her part today, helping weave together the leaves and the like for the hut, specifically weaving large parts of the roof, so that there would be little chance of a surprise leak later on - Llune's a master of waterproof weaving.

She made a number of baskets, some to hold water, some to hold the coconut milk, some for ladles, some for holding flowers or fish or knick-knacks. They're of complimenting colors, with little pictures of the cove and the moons and elves of alternating heights along the edges, all woven into the design.

Llune has also taken the time to weave sleeping mats to suit each member's size for everyone that would be staying in the hut. She didn't bother with blankets, as the leaves would make for itchy blankets, and the weather outside was unseasonably pleasant.

It wasn't much, but the hut was starting to look like home. There were baskets of food-stuffs in a sort-of-corner, sleeping mats scattered about, a bunch of full bellies, lifted spirits, and now Llune was beginning to decorate! Somehow, amidst all the huzzah of hut-building and supper making Llune has put together garlands of flowers she collected while gathering materials for the other items she made. Of yellow and orange and white, the garlands are being placed around the trunks and branches of the support trees and over the shoulders of unwitting members of the "tribe."

Llune is a vision, her orange and green gown hidden beneath the garlands of flowers she's spreading about. She's all smiles, full and happy, as she passes out the pretties to all. Even the bonds have been decorated with the flowers, though it would be a wonder if they stayed that way for long. It seems as though everyone is happy and all ill feelings have been forgotten, at least for the time being.

Llune hums gently, old songs, songs whose origins this ancient elf can't even remember, songs her mother's mother taught her when she was young. The flicker of the fire in the fire pit plays with shadows along the woven walls of the hut, a soft breeze rattles the leaves in the trees outside, and the soft humming (gee, is she accidentally doing it in a send or something too?) seems to reach every member's ears.

Peyote can't help but laugh and smile at the flowers. She's on her feet soon after the garland is laid over her shoulders. "Just like Festival," she cooed posing in her flowers. One shoulder up to her chin, hands on her hips. She collects up the hem of her tattered dress and lifts it so she can kick in a dance, eyes on Relim. "Just like it, no? All we need is music!"

Llune giggles at Peyote's pose, then continues humming, loudly enough for anyone to hear. What a pretty elf! Llune will have to get the things together to make her a new dress... How to find out her favorite color... How to figure that out... Hmm....

"Oh, Peyote, that is just lovely! What's your favorite color?" Llune asks, a master of subtlety.

Peyote smiles brightly at Llune, shrugging so that her hair bunches up around her shoulders. She even brings her hands up to her chin. "oooOOO I love all sorts of colors. red, yellow, orange, blue, purple, gold, pink, green, amber."

Dewpaw rubbed her eyes as she blinked against the firelight. She stretched out, touching warm familiar fur, and finding comfort in it, snuggled against the vigilant form of Morningtail. She looked around, immediately spotting two elves she had only seen from a distance, but no more. When she didn't catch sight of Dancer or Savith, she paniced, pushing herself closer into Morningtail's fur.

She did not remember finding her way into the hut she was in. She remembered crying in Dancer's arms and vaguley being carried by Savith, but no more; however, Morningtail did not seem to fear the other two elves, and Dewpaw trusted his opinion. She glanced at the two, thinking the older was familiar, at least to her mind. *Who are you? Where is Dancer? She... where is she?* she sent openly, hoping Dancer or Savith would respond as well. Even though they were elves, she did not feel comfortable with anyone she didn't know.

Dancers mind was pulled from the many things it was doing while the body lay still in some dark corner someplace outside the hut. A quiet sigh and a faint smile was all she did before sending to DewPaw before fear overtook her or anything. **I am here sleepy head.** Her send was gentle and quiet and it wasn't long before Dancer was up and inside the make shift hut... Moving over near the fire she stood looking into it a while. Her mind was on other things and her face almost had a frown on it. The light of the fire lapped at her face and flesh causing shadows to play across it and made her blue eyes shine.

Dewpaw stretched again before getting up and moving over to Dancer, her eyes still watching the other two elfs. *I didn't* yawn *sleep that long* she sent. Ignoring the fact that it sounded even in her head like a tired mumble.

She moved close to Dancer, close enough to feel safe but not touching, as she didn't know if that is what dnacer wanted. She vagualy remembered saying something to dancer and Savith, but she couldn't remember. But something told her it was important. She scratched her head, "Did I... um, did I say anything when I was asleep? To you, I mean?"

Blaze lay motionless on the ground far enough away from the light of the fire that, in the shade of the trees and his black clothing, he was nearly invisible but for a spark of a reflection in his eyes. He had taken a minimal role in making the bonfire, donating his 'back-up" flintstone to start it and helping the feeble flame catch hold as only he could, but retreating once the fire began to generate any real heat; he would have had no part in it if his pride had not forced him to save face. He still didn't trust himself with that powerful a heat source around the more delicate members of the tribe. Regardless, the fire was well-made, and it needed no fiddling with.

Silent though he was, his mind was racing with hundreds of both practical and fantastical thoughts. He listened closeley to the open sends and conversation, learning as much as he could. Dew's confused send threw a wrench in the works of his thoughts, but provoked no response. He would wait untill she came to him for that; he had taken Dancer's repoach towards his rashnes to heart. Instead, he sent lock-sent to Savith. "Come give me a kick when everyone's gone to sleep. I'm going to doze off." With that he curled up on a mat of fronds against a cluster of palms, and drifted off to sleep himself.

OCC: We'll assume he said this before Savi and Dancer left to do their "fishing."

Actually the young girl made Dancer feel a bit better. Her mind wasn't looking forward to what she had to do later and DewPaw was a pleasant enough distraction for the moment. A silent reach of her hand and DewPaw's hair was roughed up a little. Those midnight blue eyes glance in the youths direction. "You did say something to me." Her smile was soft and kind. Leaning in a a bit so any nosy ears might not hear she said quietly. "You called me Mother." Glancing about a bit she smiled wider at the next part, "And Savith Father. You slept till dark came though. I hope it helped." Dancers hand motioned to the cooked fish and fresh water. "Help yourself to all the fish your belly can hold." With that said she closed her eyes a moment to swallow a lump and calm her own writhing gut.

Dewpaw could feel the blush before it came, the heat rising rapidly in her cheeks and the tips of her ears. "umm... about that..." but she didn't know what to say. She had been half-asleep at the time, worn out, and starving. She was certain dancer didn't mind, as the elfess was still being nice to her and her sends had remained warm and calm. The young cub was more worried about Savith. She didn't see him around and didn't know how he reacted to being called "father".

Dewpaw looked up at Dancer with pale green eyes, searching the elfess for something. She noticed Dancer's closed eyes and her throat move to swallow, but Dewpaw did not want to press her luck by asking more question. Instead she hurridly reached for some of the fish, her growling stomach beating out her curious nature, and nibbled at the fish. Seafood wasn't her favorite, but she hadn't eaten since the last time Morningtail had managed to find a rabbit for them, a couple days ago. She smiled at Dancer, grinning like the Cheshire cat with bits of fish around her mouth. "aren't you going to eat?"

Those pools of blue opened slowly and found the girl nibbling away at the fish. Dancer moved to a mat near the fire and sat. It was a wonder to her how fast Llune's hands seemed to work at making things. She made a mental note that Llune would be the one to see if she wanted something new to wear. Letting her mind go back to the question asked of her she said, "I have eaten my fill already thank you." Dancer noted the flushed face on Dew and knew well the feel of embarrassment herself. "As for what was said before. Think nothing of it. I was honored that you felt as safe as if you were in your own Mothers arms." The statement stung just like a buzzing sweet bee sting. She did so miss her family and friends but knew she would be happy with her new friends as well.

Dewpaw nodded, "I always felt safe when she held me. My brother too," her voice was quiet and she stopped nibbling for a moment. She turned her gaze to the opening in the hut where she could see outside before staring down at the fire. She had heard the howls of the wolves after her head cleared of sleep. Her ears pricked up at the sound, a hope rising in her. A hope that was quickly dashed.

A wolfrider could always recognize the call of its packmates. These howls were not meant for her, were not her packmates. She sat down, inching closer to Dancer and leaning slightly on the elfess' leg. "Mother's have a way of doing that. Even if they aren't a mother by blood or fur." Dewpaw hoped she could help Dancer feel better as Dancer had done for her, and those words were the only ones she could think to say.

She smiled softly at the girl and let her move as close as she liked without protest. Lifting a hand again to DewPaw's head she stroked the girls hair slowly. "How does your head feel now?" A dark gaze was thrown in Blaze's direction. She would stay away from him as long as he stayed out of her way. Softly she sent to the young kit alone. **I will be away much later this evening. I might not be back for a while. Llune is expecting a child it would make me very happy if you tended her in my absence. Do you think you could do that for me DewPaw?** Her tone was that of bestowing a great responsibility on the girl. The send filled with kindness and the feel of a big sister passing on a very important job. It also held undertones of something more grim.
