To say that it was hot would probably have made understatement of the year, for this weather, the sweltering waves of heat that rolled throughout the plain was certainly more than just 'hot.' It air could be set on fire, this would certainly be what it felt like, Khatira was certain. Even the breeze was no comfort, for it only brought more hot air, blowing overtop of a body already burning up from the full force of the sun. The bright coloured lioness lay panting underneath what little shade was offered by the canopy of the small tree she was under. Water. She needed water.
But water right now was fairly scarce, she had scented none on her way here. Of course, these were foreign lands, and it was more than likely that she could just be missing an obvious spot. Still, if she didn't get moving soon she'd become dehydrated, so, Khatira didn't have much of a choice. With a sigh, she relectantly rose, stepping into the full brunt of the sun's heat, and moving forward slowly, but purposefully. Perhaps there were some other lone lions here that were friednly enough to show her a drinking hole. Hopefully no prides, she knew most were fairly territorial, and there was no need to stir up any trouble if she could avoid it. Not to mention, if the pride was territorial and tried to run her off their lands, she might not even make it. And really, becoming food for scavengers was no one's idea of a good time.

((srry it took so long. I had a flat. Look at siggy to see. Also pb won't recognize Andais so I have no pic. ;.; I am full of fail today. It is in the front page owners list though.))
Andais trudges to the local watering hole. This is the worst weather EVER. Her dark colors are not conducive to this at ALL. She loves night time. It is her time to shine, being just a blur in the night to sleeping prey. But this, THIS was madness. She was sure she was going to pass out soon, but then she would probably get eaten and she still has her pride. So she trudges on, not running, to conserve energy to fight a way to the water.

From the corner of her eye, Khatira spotted another lioness trudging purposefully forwards. Upon closer inspection, she noted the size, it was still a young one, not a cub, but not yet an adult either. Well, this one at least might be more friendly than a stray adult she may encounter. Khatira could not be certain whether or not it was a lone lioness, after all, being so young there was a likely chance it's pride was around. But then, she supposed young lions lost pride's to, she herself had. So maybe if she was lucky it wouldn't bring a whole hostile pride to breathe down her neck. And, perhaps she would know where some water might be found. Hopefully anyways.
She trotted up, making sure to keep herself well visible to the dark red lioness. Must be even hotter for this one, being such a dark colour. If she was lucky, the dark lioness might even be going to water herself, Khatira couldn't think of anything else to do in this heat. "Excuse me, but I'm not from these parts. Would you happen to know if there is any watering hole nearby? The heat is dehydrating me greatly."

Andais is slightly started at the new lioness. She mentally chastises herself. How is she going to live out here when people can sneak up on me from across the Sahara. it is just the stupid heat distracting me. Andais bares her teeth and growls to the new female " New! Well I hope you get eaten alive. and yes I AM going to a watering hole, I won't show you the way, but you probably going to tag along anyways." Andais trudges onward looking like she pays no mind the the lioness, but actually has a eye on her. NEVER ever let your eyes off the enemy and don't give them your backside. Unfortunately she is violating one rule, but she refuses to violate the other. How else is she still alive.

She could only stare a moment at the small lioness in slight disbelief. Really now, so the little thing had sass huh? Eaten alive? Well wasn't that kind, honesetly it was no wonder the small thing was alone, with an attitude like that? Though, judging by her attitude it was unlikely she even would want any company. Though, at least she wasn't completely hostile to the idea, as she wasn't objecting to Khatira following her to the watering hole.
Well, she would take what she could get, and if that happened to be a snarky young lioness, well, she'd just have to deal with it. Shaking her head, she started to pad along slightly behind the other. So the little one like attitude? Two could play at that game. "Well since you so kindly invited me along, it would be horribly rude of me to reject such an offer. I would love to accompany you to the water hole!" she said with a little bit of overenthusiasm injected into her voice, grinning as she did so.

Andais rolls her eyes at her. Honestly if she wasn't like dead, she would be all over her. "Oh, really! That is so sweet of you!" She injects just as much sarcasm min her voice. Andais drags herself across the desert knowing she is going the right way. It looks hopeless as nothing crops up on the horizon. But she has traveled this away enough she know it is just this which protects the animals hidden oasis. As she crops above a slight dune a marvelous sight is before them. It is a large lake that you could swim across. Surrounded by ferns and fronds and a palm tree in a corner farthest away. It is currently surrounded by animals all shapes and sizes. Some even Andais has never seen. Andais grumbles and lopes to the edge yelling behind her. "Because you owe me now, help me fight for a spot."

Khatira just grinned wickedly at the younger lioness as she retorted with yet another sarcastic remark. Turning her gaze back to where they were going, she snuck another look at the other lion, wondering if she did in fact know where she was going. It looked to Khatira as if there was nothing ahead but an endless expanse of desert, certainly not somewhere that housed a watering hole. But, she didn't know where any was on her own, so she supposed she would just have to trust that the small lioness did in fact know where she was going.
As the crested a dune, she finally saw it, and it was far bigger than she could have imagined. She stopped, staring at it and could only blink for a moment or two. "It's...huge," she remarked, sounding amazed. She didn't know there were water holes this big! This was an oasis, not merely a watering hole, and from the looks of it, a very popular spot, as all diferent species crowded around it. She heard the redish lioness's request -more like command really- to help her find a spot. Well, she supposed this was where being an adult lion came in handy. A few of the smaller mammels were crowded near one edge, the place was packed really. Khatira went up close to them, issuing a low growling sound in her throat, not threatening necessarily, but making sure they knew she, a lioness was there.
Not wanting to be caught in the jaws of such a creature, the smaller animals quickly bolted off, leaving a fairly wide margin on both sides between her and the other animals, all who had crowded to the other side and were watching her warily. They probably knew she wouldn't attack them now, it was far too hot for that, but they were smart enough not to get too close as well. She turned back to the dark lioness. "There we go, right on the waterfront. Good enough spot for you?" She asked, waiting only a moment before lowering her head to drink.

Andais smiles at her shocked expression, but it quickly turns to a frown and a forced grunt of acknowledgment at her quick clearing. Andais usually gets in a brawl for her spot, I guess being bigger can really be an advantage. Andais goes running straight for the lioness, right before her she bounds over her into the pond. Andais splashes around gaily and doggy paddles back onto the beach to lay down and drink.

She only looked back quickly as she heard the lioness grunt, turning her head away so the younger one wouldn't see her semi triumphant grin. But as she heard something padding rapidly towards her, Khatira's head once again turned back, wondering what on earth it could be. Of course, there really could only be one possibility couldn't there? The dadrk lioness, who was running flat out towards her with no inclination of stopping.
It only took a fraction of a second to figure that out, and then before she had time to decide a course of action, the small lioness was above her, and over her, landing and splashing about in the water much less gracefully than she had been in the air. She watched the red lioness' path, a bemused expression on her face as she backed off a little, avoiding being splashed by the happily flailing lioness. When at last she settled down and decided to drink, Khatira felt it was once again safe for herself to do the same.
"So, what's your name anyways?" She asked, deciding to be sociable, as difficult as it might be with this one. She could at least give it a shot, right?

Now not in this dreaded heat, Andais settles down and decides not to be a wretch because she did help, A LITTLE. "Andais, you?"
