Hello,
I have spent some time together with two other guild members working on a system to introduce levels and progress stages in to the guild. Here is the result. Before it goes in to work in the guild I would like to have everyone scrutinize and ask the living bajeezus out of it. So, this is the Q&A place for the new leveling system.

Professions: Wizard • Fire • Water • Wind • Earth • Light Warlock • Demonology • Necromancy • Darkness (Element] • Summoning • Curses Fighter • Defence • Tactics • Stealth • Archery • Melee Crafter • Blacksmith • Leatherworker • Tailor • Alchemist • Potions
Profession Ranks: • Novice – Starting position, 1 in each skill of the selected profession, 5 points overall • Advanced – 3 in each skill of the profession and 20 points overall, may combine 2 skills • Expert – 5 in each skill of the profession and 40 points overall, may combine 3 skills • Master – 7 in each skill of the profession and 65 points overall, may combine 4 skills • Grandmaster – 10 in each skill of the profession and 100 points overall, may combine 5 skills
Guidelines: The maximum amount of points in each skill is 10; Experts may get 15, Masters may get 20 and Grandmasters may progress up to 25. You may learn skills from another one or more profession, however only skills in the same profession count towards profession ranks. For example; only Crafter skills can be used to achieve 20 points for Advanced Crafter. To raise your skill level you must post in your training thread. Every page you complete will give you one point in the skill you were practicing. Only you can post in your own training thread. You may invite someone to spar/practice with; that will mean an announcement of the names of all participants at the beginning and the end of the session. You will get skills equal to the pages divided by the amount of participants. Example: You invite Alex to spar in your training thread. You announce: “Me and Alex spar, I practice archery and she practices fire.” At the end of your training you must post “I and Alex are done.” The spar lasted 6 pages, so you get half of the amount of pages in skill points and she gets half. Another way to get skill points is to participate in RPs specially announced by captain or the guild crew, or participate in a battle/quest where the captain/crew act as a “Dungeon Master” of sorts. PM Lucimorth for farther questions.
Skills: As you create your character, you must choose a profession, you get 5 points to allocate in to the skills in your chosen profession . You are free to practice any other skills outside of your profession. When you fight monsters please refer to the creature guide. When fighting other players, please check their skills and ranks. When crafting items, please refer to the items guide. Your total [all skills in all professions] amount of skills determines your overall level. You qualify for a guild rank upgrade every 15 levels. So, if you get to level 15 you will receive a new rank at the next 2nd of the month. If after that you only get to level 28 [+13 levels] you will not get a rank upgrade until next second of the month, provided you pass level 30. You may only get one rank upgrade every time they are handed out. The last 4 ranks may require more than a month to gain. Every 2nd of the month those who qualify will get a rank upgrade. Rank upgrade will give a bonus of 10 skill points for your main profession. Those who are simply active to the bare minimum will get a rank upgrade every 3 months.

A little Demo:
Lets say I take the Wizard profession. So, my character will have 1 in each skill of the wizard profession as I start in the guild. Lets say I gained 10 points [15 together with the starting 5]of skill by the time it is July 2nd, so I will get promoted to the second rank of my faction and get another 10 skill points bonus.
Now, I have 20 free skills and one skill point in each skill of my profession, so I will use them like this:
Professions: Wizard • Fire - 1 +5 = 6 • Water -1 +2 = 3 • Wind -1 +2 = 3 • Earth -1 +3 = 4 • Light -1 +3 = 4 Warlock • Demonology + 1 • Necromancy • Darkness (Element] • Summoning • Curses Fighter • Defence • Tactics • Stealth + 3 • Archery +1 • Melee Crafter • Blacksmith • Leatherworker • Tailor • Alchemist • Potions
So, I distributed most [15] of the skill point in to my profession. I now have at least 3 points in each skill and I also have 5 skill point in other profession skills; Demonology, Stealth, Archery. Now that I have 20 points overall in Wizard and at least 3 in each skill, I am an Advanced Wizard now and get the bonuses that come with it.
To learn how to gain skill point please read the Guidelines and Skills section in the previous post. Allright, so I hope this helps!

Whoa...confusing...
I read through it many times, kinda answered some of my initial questions, but just to be sure...
You automatically start at lvl 5 when you chose a profession because of the free points you get for each skill in the profession, right?
You said you get 10 bonus skill points for getting promoted to a new faction rank. When you said "You qualify for a guild rank upgrade every 15 levels," by guild you mean faction, right?
I still have questions, but I gotta go. I'll make another post with more questions.

The system seems a little confusing, but it is very forgiving and bendable, so I will answer any questions you have smile

I'm guessing those with superior "Skill Points" in a certain area will provide a better outcome for actions done by the superior SP holder on an inferior SP holder.
However--what do these SP do aside from showing a individual person's might over another. Can we unlock abilities by having 'x' number of SP in a skill for example?

Well, you need to gain a certain amount of skill points to advance in profession ranks, lets say, you get to Master, you can combine four of your skills in one attack, so that means the force of it becomes all the four skill points together.
As a Novice, you can't combine any skills, so basically it is unlocking new abilities razz
Not to mention, some items and other things will require certain skills ^_^

1). Do we get training bonuses from having a sensei/teacher?
2). Can we train in a thread other than our journals?
3). Can we train in our journals and be in a RP at the same time?

Humbra 1). Do we get training bonuses from having a sensei/teacher?
2). Can we train in a thread other than our journals?
3). Can we train in our journals and be in a RP at the same time? 1. Can you elaborate on what you mean? NPC mentors or other people as mentors? Or anything else? 2. Yes, your personal quest (more on that in a few days) will grant you points as well, and sometimes others who participate in it will get points. Also, sometimes I or one of the Crew will RP as a monster you are fighting and you will get points. Another way is I will look around at especially interesting and well thought out posts and will grant points according to that. 3. Yes smile

Like I said, more questions.
What would one do in a training based thread? Would you just roleplay your character training? And what if you train by yourself on NPC monsters? Would you then roleplay with yourself?
Do you have to put skill points into professions other than your main, or can you focus on purely one or two professions?
Would the bonus skill points from gaining a rank upgrade count towards level or simply be bonus skill points?

In a training thread you practice techniques and skills in detail, you develop them and raise your skill through practice. You mainly RP either against a training dummy or magic if you are a mage, or even craft. If you plan to kill a monster, it will first have to be within your power [look at the monster list] and second, if you want, you can ask me or someone else to RP as the NPC critter, that will give you more points [and whoever helps you] You have to put points in to all skills within your profesison [fighter for you] in order to advance in profession ranks. However, you may put what ever amount of skill you wish in to any other skill in any other profession [general limit on novice level is 10 skill points] It counts both towards level and skill points. Your level is the summ of all the skill points you have razz

I'd ask a queston but, in all honesty, it just sorta clicked into place after the first go over. I suppose that I just ... get it.

Hehe, glad it does Kastor ^_^
It depends on the quality of the rp, Humbra, you may not get anything for winning even and you may get a skill or two for loosing, main thing is rp quality. Ofcourse, the evaluation of the quality of your individual RP will be based on your other posts and not on anyone elses posts.
