The Official Post Your Progress Guild Well this thread is all about our favourite bands and type of music. I personally love heavy metal, techno and rock. Then again, my guilty pleasure is Disney music especially from The Lion King and some other great Disney movies.
So my favourite bands would be Avenged Sevenfold, 30 seconds to Mars, The Medic Droid, Linkin Park, Disturbed, Escape the Fate...etc haha. Record your progress

Damnit woman! Get out of my head!
Anyway, I listen to just about anything as long as it has a good beat.
The main bands/musicians that get rotated through my cd player are Korn, Marilyn Manson, Megan McCaulley, Rammstein, and then various soundtracks and compilations I've made.

Haha I take it you are a fan.
I love a bit of rock/metal. It really the only thing I listen to on my Ipod when Im out and about. I love it when your walking through town and you know people can hear your music blasting out.
Then again, you can probably tell by my sig that I love M Shadows from A7X. biggrin

I used to really love that kind of stuff. My favorite band was AFI, mostly Black Sails in the Sunset stuff. That was right after Sing the Sorrow was released. I still have a soft spot for much of it but when we start to roam into the territory of music that sounds like say . . . Daughtry. . .
I find myself a little nauseated.
These days my favorite band is Hot Hot Heat. I also really like The Strokes. For fun I listen to Gackt, Imogen Heap, Tenacious D, and many others. More and more I find myself drifting towards more lyrically advanced artists like Regina Spektor.

I listen to all sorts of music. My favorite band is currently Dragonforce, they're so epic. If my novel was music, it would probably be by Dragonforce. I guess it's easier to listen to music that connects with what I'm doing.
I wrote a death scene to Caramelldansen this morning at three. Look up the song on Youtube. M's gotten me addicted to it...I'm trying to learn it on the piano now.
Other than that, I listen to most genres if the lyrics connect to my characters and story. Yeah, everything has to be just so with me...

Everything from Broadway to, to classic metal, to Symphonic Progressive power metal, to First wave Black metal--a select few selections of Japanese pop, some classical. And Disney--can't live without Disney.
I really listen to everything, and I can name 21 sub-genre's of metal.

My sister bought The Medic Droid's CD for me for my birthday.
I was so excited when I pulled it out of the bag yesterday.
I hate that it's so short though.
D:
*ahem*
anyways.
Aside from those mentioned above, I like a wide variety of music.
Brokencyde is good, despite my hate for bands that have lyrics I can't understand.
The GazettE is also one of my favorites and have actually inspired me to finish my first short story.
And that's a HUGE achievement for me.
Savage Garden.
And Backstreet Boys is my no-longer-secret pleasure.

Well, for writing I listen to music that either has no lyrics or the lyrics are so soft they're almost phased completely into the tune itself.
Artists I listen to while writing are Frou Frou, Imogen Heap, Sigur Ros, George Winston, and loads of drum and bass.
My favorite artists to just chill to are Foo Fighters, Chevelle, Bleach, Coldplay, Daft Punk, Do As Infinity, Earth Wind and Fire, Fatboy Slim, Flobots, The Fray, Jamiroquai, The Mars Volta, Mika, N.E.R.D., Nightwish, NIN, Panic! at the Disco, The Postal Service, Shiny Toy Guns, Superchick and Yellowcard, just to name a few. sweatdrop

NIN! How could I forget NIN? Who doesn't love to play Closer just a little too loudly? Though one time it came on the radio when I was driving through Ohio with my parents and they listened to the whole thing...that was akward. I remember that back in the day there was one Yellowcard song that I was pretty crazy about. I don't recall whether or not it was ever released as a single. It had something to do with fathers and had a great violin part. That's about all I remember. I kind of stopped listening to the radio in 2004. It was the anniversary of Kurt Cobain's death and all they were playing was Nirvana...and although I enjoy Nirvana I can't do 3 days straight of it. So I turned off the radio and that was that.

My music is constantly described as Gothic though I'm anything but Gothic, more of an eccentric. Anyway my favorite bands are Within Temptation (Our Solemn Hour, Jillian {I'd Give My Heart}, the Howling, See Who I Am, Running Up That Hill, and Stand My Ground are probably my favorites.) Nightwish (Ghost Love Score, Sleeping Sun, 10th Man Down, Planet Hell, and Nemo) Three Days Grace (Animal I Have Become and Time of Dying) Sum 41 (In Too Deep, Open Your Eyes, the Hell Song, and Over My Head) Skillet (Savior, Rebirthing, Comatose, Falling Inside the Black, Whispers In the Dark) I sometimes feel weird listening to a Christian band when I don't see myself as Christian. I also kind of sort of like Evanescence and Linkin Park... but only a couple songs like Taking Over Me/Bring Me To Life and In the End/Points of Authority. Then I have a billion and one songs that I like from random artist. If you lot write epic fantasy or science fiction look up some of the songs I mentioned. Most of them are on my playlist on my profile. Mindscrew Min-Min

M, you may want to look into Rhapsody and Blackmores Night. Rhapsody being Italian epic metal and Blackmore's Night being what Ritchie Blackmore (of Deep Purple) does these days, more a celtic style..
Also, what do people think of the new vocalist of Nightwish?
