I don't like the photoshopped version one bit. Though, the orginal is sweet, I would have cropped it (where only your faces were present), rotated it, did a little bit of contrasting..and voila.

It does work as far as the "melt into each other" theme but it reminds me too much of a Terminator movie gone scary whee
Have you tried knocking out the background and dropping the subject into someplace else? 3nodding
The most common Photoshop thing I do is to repair ripss and 'voids' in old photos. Lots of Rubber Stamp tool.

It's scary...but for your first attempt, it was a good attempt. Try being creative with what Photoshop can do for you instead of being creative to show what Photoshop can do in general. Does that make any sense?

This is a good attempt, but myself I'd have used the elliptical marquee tool and selected the area around the subject of the picture, copied it to a new layer, then worked with the photo on the first layer. Once the effect for the first layer of the image was done, I'd have softened the edges of the selection in the second layer, so it blended in nicely with the first layer, and adjusted the opacity of the layer. Once it's how you want it, merge the visible layers and save it.

I've never been a fan of that effect so I really like the original version. Maybe if yes a little cropping and contrasting was done.
